Introduction:
In 1914 through 1918, the Armenians were trapped in a box where they were tossed and thrown around in until they broke apart. The Turks while they were still labeled as the Ottoman Empire was in a war with Russia was afraid that one of their occupied lands, Armenia, would turn to Russia since they both were Christians. This forced the Turkish to decide it was time to completely get rid of the Armenians. Even without any complete evidence that the Armenians would betray the the Turks, Armenians were still blamed and killed. Even today, Turkey still denies they committed genocide. The massacre that took place in the Ottoman Empire between 1914-1918 should be considered genocide because it went through all eight stages of genocide

but mainly highlighted preparation and extermination. Chunk 1: TS: Preparation was an essential part of the Armenian genocide because it was the stage that initiated all the killing of the Armenians and made extermination easier for the Turks.
CD: They stage of genocide, Preparation began by creating a list of people they need to kill first before attacking the entire Armenian population, “The letters contained the blacklist of Armenians to be arrested - a list which had been compiled with the help of Armenian traitors, and in particular by Artin Mkrtchian as well as the neighborhood littenatist [Young Turks] clubs. Those listed were the Armenians who had played vital roles as social reformers or nonpartisans, and were deemed to be able to incite revolution or resistance” (Crimes Against Humanity 93).
AP: Before the killing started, the Turks assembled a list of important Armenians to remove first to make extermination re-volt free. They were either separated from their families or killed.
AP: Removing the upper class Armenians helped the Turks kill of the rest of the Armenians off because without the leaders and great thinkers, they don’t think about revolution nor do they know how to revolt. The rest of the Armenians, mainly involving old people, women and children, are forced to leave their own

area. CD: After all the greater intelligent Armenians are gone, the Turks began to take the leftover Armenian away from their property and home, “Deportations orders were announced publicly or posted in each city and township. Families were allowed two days to collect a few belonging; their property confiscated or quickly sold off” (Crimes Against Humanity 84). AP: The Turks sold away houses without any of the Armenian citizen’s permission and started deporting the last of the family members.
AP: Taking their homes away made it easier to deport the people because, with their home gone, they’d have nowhere else to go. Without the safety of their home, the Armenians who were not killed were forced to be deported and killed along the way.
CD: And finally, when the Armenians are completely separated from each other, they’re either tortured or killed, “For a moment we were so shaken, we were convinced that we were being taken out to the Sea of Mavmara to be drowned. Many of the men were crying, many were remembering their loved ones as we sailed toward the open sea. In a few months, many of us would regret that we had not thrown ourselves into the sea that night. Because death by sea would have been kinder than the torture the Turks did to us with aces and hatchets in the places they would later take us” (Crimes Against Humanity 93).
AP: A handful of Armenians were taken out to the middle of sea to be tortured without any escape or
freedom. AP: The torture was so bad that even drowning themselves was better than being alive. Many people weren’t given the choice of death; they were killed every single night instead. Finally at the brink of death and the most vulnerable to death, the Armenian had done exactly what the Turks wanted. The Armenians were finally prepared to be completely exterminated. CS: Preparation was an important stage of genocide because it made is easier to attain and start up the stage Extermination, the main point of genocides. Chunk 2: TS: The key point of genocide is the killing itself, how the Turks killed the Armenians was undeniably aimed to completely exterminate the entire race. CD: Extermination was such a huge stage it even overlapped with the previous stage, Preparation, “Deportation was in fact only a disguised form of extermination. The strongest were eliminated before the departure. Hunger, thirst, and slaughter decimated the convoys’ numbers. Thousands of bodies piled up along the roads. Corpses hung from trees and telegraph poles; mutilated bodies floated down rivers or were washed up on banks” (Crimes Against Humanity 85). AP: The Turks had neither reason nor sympathy when killing the Armenian when deporting them, which was already bad in the first place. AP: Extermination was already occurring as seen when just deporting the netizens to stranded mountains and terrains. CD: Death marches easily executed all the Armenians because they were easy to run, and could people without even using a weapon, “After ordinary Armenians were turned out of their homes and sent on death marches through the Mesopotamian desert without food or water. Frequently, the marches were stripped naked and forced to walk under the scorching sun until they dropped dead. People who stopped to rest were sho.” (An Introduction to the Armenian Genocide 4). AP: Armenians were forced to walk through torturous weather without any food, water or rest. AP: This completely exterminated the large groups of people who walked because they were tired, hungry and desperate, since they were in the middle of nowhere but, no one was able to offer help. CD: Even the amount of causalities is evidence enough that all of the Turks doings were intentional to massacre the entire Armenian population, “The [majority of the] Armenians of Constaninople and Smyra also escaped deportation. Lastly, there were cases of resistance (Urdfa, Shabin Karahisar, Musa Dagh) In all including those who took refuge in Russia, the number of survivors at the end of 1916 can be estimated at 600,000 out of an estimated total population in1914 of 1,800,000, according to A. Toynbee” (Crimes Against Humanity 85-86). AP: Even with help from others, freedom of deportation from some, and few resistance attempts, only 600, 000 people out about 1,800,000. AP: With an outcome of barely a handful of survivors and intentional killing, this shows that Extermination was definitely in action. CS: Extermination played a huge part in the genocide because it could potentially erase an entire race which is the whole point of genocide. Conclusion: In the end, the Turkish did fail to annihilate the entire Armenian population. Their attempts did prove that they try to exterminate the Armenians and cannot be denied. With all the planning and events that happened during the Preparation stage of genocide and how the massacres happened during the Extermination stage, the events that happened in Armenia in 1914 through 1918 is genocide.
The book “Forgotten Fire” was written by Adam Bagdasarian as a piece of historical fiction. Even though this book isn’t non-fiction it’s still based on true facts about the Armenian Genocide. Vahan is a 12 year old boy living in Bitlis, Turkey. Vahan lives the life of privilege as the youngest son of a wealthy family. Being the youngest son he has 3 brothers by the name or Diran, Tavel, and Sisak. Also he has 2 sisters by the name of Oskina and Armenouhi. This story was based on a true story about the Armenian Genocide in Vahan Kenderian point of view. Throughout the story Vahan is constantly losing friends and family while running for his life from the gendarmes. The Armenian Genocide was lead by Turkey which started in 1923 and lasted for 8 years. The Turkish government killed one and a half million Armenians during the 8 year process. This is an essay on the story of Vahan Kenderian before, during, and after the Armenian Genocide and how it changed his life.
The Serb peasants risked their lives by helping the downed airmen. They welcomed the airmen and loved them as their own people. If Germans found Serbs helping these men, they would destroy a whole village and take all the people prisoner. The author portrayed this by describing the extremes the villagers took to hide the men. General Mihailovic made sure that his guerilla forces always protected the Serbs and the airmen. They followed the men
Millions on millions were killed and even more were harmed, starved, and worked to near death. Eventually an international effort was created, a war against Germany, The Nazis, and the Axis powers. They were stopped, but only after millions had already been killed. On the other hand, an estimated two million Armenians were killed in the Ottoman empire. At least a million others were deported. After the Central Powers were defeated, the genocide ended because the perpetrators no longer had power. In most cases, these situations are ended by other countries uniting together to end these
In short, the majority of Turkey’s allies did nothing about the ordeal in the end. Basically brushing the entire event off. Eventually, the already small and fragile Armenian republic was given no support from the allies as a whole, and collapsed upon itself. As for the Turkish, in the successful obliteration of the vast majority of the Armenian people, they destroyed many priceless masterpieces, libraries and churches that had belonged to the Armenians. In Turkey, it’s illegal to even mention the topic of the Armenian Genocide.

This was an example of genocide that we can learn from and know what genocide is so we can stop genocide from occurring in the future because we are the next generation of the world..

The first stage classification it is when people are distinguished by nationality, ethnicity, race, or religion. The second stage of genocide is symbolization, which is when people are given certain a symbol or item which helps them identify their ethnicity, race, religion, etc. The third stage of genocide is Dehumanization which is when a group of people deny the humanity of another group which makes them seem like inferiors. The fourth stage is organization which is how the genocide is planned. The fifth stage is polarization which is when everyone is separated depending on their classification. The sixth stage is is preparation which is when the perpetrators begin death lists. The seventh stage is extermination which is when the victims are being killed. The eighth stage of genocide is denial which is what causes the continuation of the intent to destroy the certain group. A stage that was used is stage one, the “us” vs “them” was created because the perpetrator is the Sudanese government and the Darfuri residents are the victims. The fourth stage was also used because the government organized themselves by creating the “scorched-earth” strategy, which is a plan on how to defeat the rebels. In addition, the fifth stage was created because the government starts off by first making a campaign. Finally, stage seven was also used because there were mass killing of Darfuri when the genocide
Genocide, the systematic and planned extermination of an entire national, racial, political, or ethnic group. From 1992-1995 that was happening in Bosnia-Herzegovina. In the Republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina, conflict between the three main ethnic groups, the Serbs, Croats, and Muslims, resulted in genocide committed by the Serbs against the Muslims in Bosnia.
In order to get to American citizen’s responsibility, one must first understand the events of the Armenian Genocide and its cover up. One needs to look at how these events transpired, how the trials were failed trials, and how Turkey has managed to cover up their crimes. While the Turkish people continue to deny it, the events of 1915 were very real. Starting in April 24th of 1915, thousands of important and wealthy Armenian men were either deported or put in detention camps (Knights of Vartan Armenian Researc...
A total of 11 million people died during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was started by the Nazi’s in the 1930’s. It was were about six million Jews were killed. Misinformed individuals theorize that the Holocaust is not a form of genocide but they are misguided. The Holocaust should be considered an example of genocide based on the UN’s definition, the stages of genocide and the specific evidence provided in the memoir Night.
I’s contribution towards the severity of the Armenian Genocide’s casualties, foreign aid, and how the genocide was reported to the world. The main sources used for this investigation are the Treatment of the Armenians by James Bryce, which describes the severity of the Armenian condition in Turkey during the World War I era, as well as the Burning Tigris by Peter Balakian, which emphasizes World War I’s conditions and how they affected the Armenians in Turkey during that time. B. Summary of Evidence There was stirring animosity between the Armenians and the Turks prior to World War I, in 1894, thousands of Armenians were massacred by the Turkish due to their religious affiliation with Christianity, which juxtaposed the Islamic Turks with whom they lived with (Greene 125). The Armenians living in Turkey have been ostracized ever since, and increased tension between the Turks and Armenians was sparked by the beginning of World War I.
“The human race is the only species that can and does think it's self into anger and violence.” (pup.org.uk) In prison camps, Prisoners were forced to do hard physical labor. Torture and death within concentration camps were common and frequent. (dosomething.org) during that time; 2.11 million people were killed during the holocaust, 1.1 million which were children. (dosomething.org) Some people argue that the Holocaust was not an act of genocide because they feel like there is nothing wrong with it but they don't know all the facts behind it. The Holocaust should be considered an example of genocide based on the United Nations definition, the stages of genocide, in the specific evidence provided in the memoir night.

Also, only 25% of Armenians were deported to the deserts of Syria and Iraq. After the war between Armenians and Turks, only 380,000 Armenians remained in the Ottoman Empire.
