The Disdvantages to the Increasing Pressure on Teachers

Today, education is one of the most highly debated areas in America. Schools all across the nation employ teachers to make children and young adults ready for life, college, and the workforce. According to http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/breakdown, the federal government is set to spend 1 trillion dollars on education in the fiscal year of 2014. But the increasing pressure that is put on to teachers is actually harming the education system. The ongoing dilemmas that are the lack of incentive for teachers, the tenures of teachers, and the focus on the “outcomes” of students, are causing the students’ education to be lacking.
One of the biggest hindrances to the learning of students among high schools all over the country is the fact that there is no true incentive program for teachers who have an exceptional teaching performance. Because there is no incentive programs teachers do not commit to their job, and ultimately the students are left to suffer. High school education needs to be quality, not just a required time killer for students looking to excel in sports or any other extracurricular activity. Teachers should be aware of the fact that education is what drives the nation on this day and age. It is becoming more and more difficult to get high paying jobs that do not require a college degree. But the preparation required for a college degree requires a quality education beginning in high school.
The incentive to become a teacher is very low. For this reason, a district in Denver, Colorado has started a program that would raise the teachers’ salary to a median around sixty-thousand dollars to one-hundred thousand dollars. ...erm, then the students end up forgetting the knowledge as they know they will not have another important test to pass using the same knowledge. The drop off of knowledge after the tests is stifling and must be addressed. (Need to embellish this paragraph)
The public education system obviously has some holes that need some work. Tenure needs to be earned and an incentive based career needs to be offered up to the teachers. Public education is without a doubt one of the most important institutions in the United States of America, as it grooms the future’s leaders and great people. If the system could be fixed completely and could give students a better shot at learning the knowledge rather than just memorizing it for a test. The system absolutely grooms some of the world’s best and brightest, but like anything in life, deserves to have a second look for improvement.
