I am influenced to believe that the American Dream is still present today and continues to be achievable. The American Dream was embodied in important historical events that have positively affected our nation to this day. Without the mention of the American Dream in these articles, no one would posses the concept of how we are supposed to be living as American Citizens. The definition of The American Dream is the idea that every U.S. citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. Many people believe that being wealthy is the overall definition of The American Dream. To me, the American Dream moreover includes ideas such as obtaining large amounts of money and being It implies, “With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.” “I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.” King Jr. explains in his opening phrase during his I Have a Dream speech, which is a great example of what our country would eventually become. Martin Luther King Jr.’s I Have a Dream speech was an event that greatly impacted the American Dream. The quote discussed shows a well-spoken example of how we came together to reach one goal, which was to become a better nation. His quote says, During the time of King Jr., freedom was a big part of the American Dream and what most people strived for. As a nation they fought for equality for every man and woman. Martin Luther King Jr. knew that our country was a broken one; therefore, he took matters into his own hands; furthermore, making a way for every boy and girl, man and women to become something great.
