The Crucible is a story about how some girls from the town of Salem were found dancing naked around a fire in the middle of the bush. They were trying to do spells on the men that they love to love them back with a lady named tituba. The man that had found them was the leader of the ton and since his daughter was there she ran and then acted like if she was in a coma so she wouldn't get in trouble. The dad had thought that they did witchcraft in her and they had brought actual police fo a court. The Dying Girl that No One Helped is about how she was murder in the streets of New York in plain day time while 36 neighbors watched and did not do anything and the killer knew they weren't. Turns out that they were scared about being questioned. The stories both have similarities and differences. …show more content…
Some similarities that they had were that they both based on a true story.
They also involve the police because in the dying girl was a murder and they had found the murder that commit the crime. And the crucible they had to try to find who was the one that made witchcraft in the daughter. There was always that the places where they occured were in a small community and also in some way they were related because one The girl was between neighbors and the crucible was in a small town where everyone knew each other.
They also had some differences like they happen in a totally different times and places. In the girl that had no help it was in the 1990 in new york in the crucible it was around the 1600 in massachusetts. So they were in a completely different time era and the plot was different too in the Crucible the main reason the was story was was sort of a fake because the daughter wasn't really in a coma and in the girl that no one helped it was a about how the neighbors watched her get stabbed and heard her scream her all she could but some really thought that she was drunk so that why they didn't
help. In all both stories had some similarities and some differences but they were both interesting stories to read. And it was pretty cool that they were based on a true story it wasn't cool what happen and definitely with that girl that had no help because that was cruel and so wrong for the neighbors to watch and not do anything about but i think it all happen for a reason. And the crucible had more of a suspenseful tone to it because you would just be waiting for what will happen next, is she going to get arrest, the girl that had no help was more of an informing tone.
There are even some small differences in The Crucible book and movie. Such as, all of the scenes in the book are place indoors whereas in the movie there are many outdoor scenes. Even the number of girls with Abigail in the movie is much larger than the amount of girls mentioned in the book.
In both situations people were accused and were found guilty with not much proof. You would think that the judges would dismiss a case when there wasn’t much proof. In The Crucible the children were not acting normal and that scared ...
Besides similarities between “The Crucible”, Salem witch Trials, and the McCarthy Era there are differences. The Crucible/ Salem witch trials had people being hung that were believed to be witches compared to people just being put in prison when they were accused of being a communist in the McCarthy era. Also, anyone was able to charge someone else in “The Crucible” where during the McCarthy Era Joseph McCarthy was the one charging people, and no one else had any say about who was charged.
The crucible and the “Red Scare” are both events in U.S. history that were widely feared by the people. Both the Crucible and the red scare were based off accusations that were taken out of proportion instead of being dismissed like they should have been. Though the Red Scare and the Salem Witch Trials were both times of hysteria, they impacted different amounts of people. The Red Scare was a problem that impacted the entire country, while the Salem with Trials for the most part only impacted the people of Salem, Massachusetts. Another difference between the Red Scare and the Salem with Trials is the reason in which these events occurred. The Red Scare was a cause of many people fearing the rise of communism while the Salem Witch Trials did
The tale of Mary Webster is told by the hour and goes about the transition of her mental state following her hanging and goes on to say how she feels slightly betrayed by those she has helped but understand where they are coming from. While The Crucible follows a specific tale jumping in between the various characters that are involved from Abigail Williams to John Proctor. Another difference is the development of the lead characters in both writings Mary Webster is shown to the readers as a woman who lived alone and own land who was accused of being a witch then ultimately survived her hanging, while John Proctor is shown to the reader as a flawed man who in the end does what he believes to be right. Which leads to the point that both these characters were different yet similar just as the writing that they are featured
The crucible’s setting was in the year 1962, in the small Puritan society of Salem. One night some of the girls in the village were in the woods doing love potions when they were caught. The girls lied and said that witches made them do it. In an extremely religeous society the influence of witches was immensely frightening and as the thought to identify witches arose, so did mass hysteria of the...
The play, the Crucible was based on a historical context which was witchcraft. The setting of the play was in Salem, Massachusetts in the year of 1962. The big phenomenon going on at that time was witchcraft. Witchcraft which is also called witchery
To conclude there are many differences yet also similarities between the two plays. The similarities being the plot, and the situations the characters are in. However, the differences being the culture the playwrite lived in and the effects these cultures had on the plays. Each play was written for a different purpose, to impact a different audience and create different emotions. I preffered the play The Crucible because the journey the characters went on was more interesting and as an audience I prefer to be able to relate to the cha
in the crucible it's about the Salem witch it can be connected to this image because there was a witch in their town and they believe that girl in the image she is one of the witches and they trying to kill her. her dad carry many things I think that's his clothes and he need for his living I believe The theme of the image is exactly connected in the crucible because in the image have a meaning and visual if you watch the crucible they exactly connected how they look how they wearing clothes and how they hurt people. in the image I see old things around like book, wheel, and chair. I think that were an old house and no ones live they are decided to kill the girl there because no-one can saw it. the one guy has a chain on his hand and looked upon the girl maybe they chain on her to not escape ."The Crucible" is about the Salem witch trials in 1692. several girls claim affected by witchcraft. In the crucible In the town, there's a lot of trouble and people who struggled in the town because the people in the town believes there's a girl who is a witch.
The similarities between “ The Crucible” and “ The dying girl that no one helped” is that in both stories there were witnesses that could have prevented the deaths of others. In the Crucible if
The similarities of the Crucible and the dying girl that no one helped is in both the stories they just let them die. Both the stories are true they did happen in real life. 16 people got murdered but the town. They had people that died and they did not care or at least they act like they did not care. They also both had witness but the witness did nothing to stop them from getting killed. It is almost like they did not care because they did not want to get in trouble or be blamed or something.
The Crucible is a complex story about a town called Salem, which lies in the state of Massachusetts. This story is about little girls in Salem lying about witchcraft which is related to McCarthyism which was going on at the time. McCarthyism is about a politician who verbally accused people of being communist, but never had any proof which is a lot like witchcraft because witchcraft is fake and cannot be proven. The Crucible, when viewed through the Marxist, Psychological, and Gender lens, is about little girls gaining power and bringing bad things into this world.
In a society that demands conformity we see the effects on individuals who suffer in both The Crucible and Year of Wonders with their independence. The protagonist, John Proctor in The Crucible shares similar qualities with Anys Gowdie in Year of Wonders. Proctor’s disregard for social and religious customs creates a conflict between him and his community. He fails to conform to the teachings of society and is punished for his sins. He falters when recalling the ten commandments and commits the act of lechery. For this he suffers greatly, hanged for his confession of a lie. Much like Anys Gowdie who also does not attend church or any religious practices in complete disregard for the community’s religious views. For this she also suffers momentously as she is hanged on the accusation of witchery in the
Many different books, plays, and other works of art, compose to make up what is today called American literature. American literature however has no boundaries and has no definite start, and currently no definite end. Today American literature is heavily though of as works of literature composed by all Americans of all kinds. Meaning it has no true boundaries in the form of people. No matter race, location, or religion American literature, has a connection to all. American literature is what defines America and its peoples of all races. The true definition of American literature is vague and uncertain; however American literature exists and is a prominent subject throughout the world. Some of the greatest works of art come from American literature, and within this
The Story of “The Crucible” Correlates With “The Dying Girl” because of the structure of the story. In The Crucible, extreme practices of religion led people to condone the murder of many innocent men and women all due to the false accusations made to them of using witchcraft. These deaths, these punishments handed to them were unjustified. People Stood by and watched as innocent people that they grew up with and knew very dearly get hung by the neck. This Correlates With the dying girl because in the events of her murder, 38 people stood by and watched as a man brutally stabbed her multiple times, this woman died a slow and painful death and no one attempted to do anything to save her. This is just like how no one tried to save the people being hung in The Crucible. They Stood By and watched innocent people die.
