Makeup was introduced into my life when I was a toddler. As I can remember I would go into my mom’s makeup drawers and experiment with different colors of eyeshadow, lipsticks and blushes. I would apply my mom’s mascara on my cheeks, not knowing where any of these products went. Therefore, makeup had a huge impact in my life. Watching my mom, cousins, and friends applying makeup, I couldn’t wait until it was my turn. Encountering makeup in my life came with various learning techniques that today encompass my whole makeup routine. As I grew older, the makeup industry became larger all over the world. At the start of my eighth grade in middle school, I would beg my parents to let me use makeup, but the answer was always a stern “NO, you are too young”. eventually I bought some for my own and starting applying mascara and drawing in my eyebrows without my parent’s permission, but that only lasted me a month until my parents saw me come home from school with a full face of makeup.I was banned from using makeup. I never understood why I couldn't wear makeup yet, but in the Latin tradition you can't wear makeup until you’re fifteen because “ that’s your transition from child to woman.” At that time I was only 13 years old and had two years to go, which was a struggle because I couldn't wait. Starting the process of wearing makeup was a huge transition from learning how to draw in my eyebrows properly not too dark, not too light, just right enough to make them look pretty.
