Oprah has continued to demonstrate throughout her life that it does not matter your color, your gender, your social class, your age, etc. it is all about who you are and want to be as a person. As a young minority African-American girl, Oprah’s life was indeed a struggle, but with her smartness, she managed to gain the confidence and courage to move past her hurdles. Today, not only is Oprah a well-known role model to other women around the world of all ages, she is also a famous leader with strong influential skills to make positive changes in peoples’ lives everywhere. Oprah achieved many honors and awards in recognition of her extraordinary achievements and contributions, including several other prestigious awards. Oprah’s main purpose is to inspire and encourage her followers to provide a high level of performance and, in turn, support their followers to grow and identify their own leadership style. The Color Purple by Alice Walker is an emotional retelling of the life of a young African American girl named Celie growing up in the South. Celie’s psychological traits and morals can be traced to her physical, cultural, and geographical surroundings. Walker skillfully demonstrates how her environment shapes Celie as a person. These unfortunate surroundings help to explain Celie’s opinions of the world, especially those of men.
She did not even let people get in the way of her dreams. She had trauma along her journey but she looked passed that. She got rejected multiple times simply because she was defined as an African American but, again, that did not stop her from following her passion. Winfrey even donates money to help those in need, and so with this, she chased her dream until she got what she wanted. Oprah Winfrey is an inspiration to not just me, but to any girl who has been rejected and has gone through a non consensual sexual act - nothing stands her way as a woman. The Color Purple by Alice Walker was a particularly enjoyable book. One reason is because the book relates to my own life in some ways. The main character, Celie, feels isolated because her father abuses her. She writes letters to God because she has no one else she can connect with. “Long as I can spell G-o-d I got somebody along” (Walker 17). Celie writes to God because she feels loved by him and she needs a companion or a friend to talk to. I, myself, am a Christian and I feel the same way. Although I am not abused, I feel her sense of loneliness. Sometimes I feel as if I have to go through all of the stress of school and studying alone, but then I realize many of my peers are feeling the same way.

The Color Purple is a very influential novel. It describes the hard times African Americans went through and Alice Walker felt very strong about this subject. Although she didn't let that get her down. She overcomes all her fears in the novel and stands up for what is best for her. Alice Walker really catches the readers with the strong words and many problems throughout the story.
In The Color Purple, there is another meaning for love. While the dictionary definition is not false, it does not fit into the theme of the book. The correct definition for love according to the book would be a selfish desire to be around someone who treats you right and allows you to have freedom. Do not be dependent on those who do not give you your freedom. Instead, find love out of the friendships that you have.
