The Causes of the 1911 Revolution
The Chinese revolution broke out in 1911 under the conflict of
manzhous which were the Qing and the revolutionaries. The revolution
broke out with the uprising of Sichuan province. The Qing government
nationalized the railway in Sichuan province. The students were
angered at the government’s action and protested on the streets for
delaying the nationalization. On August 24 1911, between the conflict
of protesters and the government troops, 32 people were killed and
many were injured. More and more people hated the Qing government as
the government shows no consideration towards the peasant’s financial
concerns. With Sun Yi Xian’s three principle of to make China free of
the rule of Manzhous and foreigners, to make China a democratic
republic, to give everyone land and a fair wage and the inconsiderable
actions of the government encouraged the people to revolute against
the Qing. The revolution was mainly caused by the internal and
external factors.
There were many internal factors that sparked off the revolution. One
of the internal factors was the Tai Ping Rebellion. During the Tai
Ping rebellion, the government was in war with the Tai Pings. As a
result, the rebellion destroyed the economy badly and caused many
internal problems of the country. Most of the country was at war and
trades were not safe to be made where economy was stroke badly since
goods were not imported or exported. There were many internal problems
caused by the rebellion which include famine, harsh peasant lives,
economy breakdown etc. These problems lasted in China as the years
passed which was one of the factors that trigg...

... was the scramble for concessions.
After the defeat of China in the Sino-Japanese war, the foreign powers
began to demand more from China. These concessions allowed foreign
countries to establish their spheres of influence and some degree of
political or financial control that minimized Chinese government’s
power, taking over China in another way. These concessions made the
living conditions of peasants harsh as the foreign countries were
mostly in control. Therefore most of the external factors that caused
the 1911 revolution were China failed to modernize, unequal treaties
created as a result of the opium war, China’s cause of the defeat of
wars and the scramble for concessions.
In conclusion the 1911 revolution was caused by various internal and
external factors accompanied with the three principle of Sun Yi Xian.
Consequently, no particular warlord was able to unify and stabilize China. A third reason was continued intervention of the foreign powers. Since the 19th century, the West had intervened in the affairs of China, forcing China to open up its ports and trade with them. Their exploitation caused many people to think lowly of the central government. Their continued presence after 1911 revolution caused a lot of resentment amongst the people.
result of the industrial revolution's effects on society and politics. Reform was needed and it
During the 19th Century, China and Japan each responded differently to western penetration. China was against industrializing and did not want to create an empire like those of the western empires. Japan however learned that if they wanted to survive they had to adopt the changes that the western empires were adopting. Japan began to create an industrialized society and soon became one of the major industrial powers. China went through many rebellions and finally decided to industrialize just enough to be able to fight off the western empires. However, they did not industrialize fast enough or big enough, and they could not defeat the west. Although they responded differently, both China and Japan were affected by western penetration economically,
The French Revolution started during 1789, it allowed for the people to have a better government that actually protected the natural rights of the people. This toke a nearly a decade of rioting and violence for the Third Estate to have their way and get the rights they deserved. From all the causes like the famine of wheat, long debts because of wars, the heavy taxes, and their rights not being protected, some causes stood out more than the others. It is noted that these reasons had to play a major role in order for the French Revolution to occur. The three most important causes of the French revolution are the ideas that came from the Enlightenment, the Old Regime not being an efficient class system, and the heavy taxation.
Japan and China reacted differently to the reforms of Imperialism. When put under pressure, Japan succumbed to the power of Western Imperialist ideas. Conversely, China, resisted for a long time. As a result, Japan had more technology, while China was unenlightened of the new advances. Japan also gained more respect from other countries, that China did not have.
The Chinese empire had once been one of the greatest and most powerful empires in the world. Before the 19th century, China had a large population and was ruled by families or dynasties. It was considered technologically advanced as China had a history of many miraculous inventions, such as: writing, magnetic compasses, movable sails, porcelain, abacus and paper money. Although China was isolated from the rest of the world, it coped well on its own, and saw no need to begin trading with the west, (as Lord McCartney proposed in 1793), since it was a self-sufficient nation. At that particular time, the Chinese empire was still able to exclude the ‘barbarians’, thus forcing them to only trade at one port. However, China soon took a turn for the worst as important ...
British Imperialism in China and Africa The treatment of the Chinese by the British, during the takeover of their country, was just like that of the Africans. The British took over the land and the government, took advantage of the people and exploited them for their resources. The English accomplished these things differently in each situation, but each time, the results were the same. One of the most important aspects of imperialism is the takeover of government.
The connection between Britain and the English colonies was that of the ruling of the colonies by the king of Britain, King George III and his parliament. The king’s ruling was very unfavorable for the colonists because of his tyrannic dictatorship and unjustly taxations. The mere thought of an island ruling an entire continent thousands of miles away with poor communication and lack of supervision of the colonies by the king, did not work in favor of the colonies nor for Britain. Three contributing factors for the outbreak of the American Revolution were (1) the king’s taxes, (2) neglect of the 13 colonies and (3) England’s mercantilism policy. King George III and his decisions were one of the major causes that had the English colonists fumed with anger towards Britain and this eventually led to the American Revolution.
The relationship between Britain and her Americans colonies slowly deteriorated between the 1750s and the beginning of the American Revolution. When the first British immigrants settled in America, the relationship of the colonies and their mother country was somewhat peaceful. In the following generations, however, their relationship became tenser as Britain imposed policies and taxes on unrepresented American colonists. The British believed they were right in doing so because they had large debts to pay from ongoing wars with France. These taxes caused uprisings among colonists which contributed to British occupation in America, leading to more rebellions. Eventually, the rift in the relationship between the colonists and the British led to the Revolutionary War and the formation of a new country.
True the ideas that were promoted by the philosphes were a contributor to The French Revolution but they were not the cause. The cause was the economic and social problems that faced France in those years of turmoil. There are many people who choose to disagree the Peyre thesis, I included. I believe that The French Revolution was caused by The Social and Economic woes of the days.
One of the most powerful countries in the 18th century established colonies across the sea. Great Britain established 13 colonies in North America as other nation started joining the race to own more land, causing controversy between both France and Great Britain. Great Britain finished, winning the war but ended with so much debt. Great Britain looked for a way to pay of the debts by establishing taxes on the 13 colonies. With the amount of power Great Britain had over the colonies, people started to go against them. The Declaratory Act of 1766 show the amount of power Great Britain had is the main cause of the American Revolution occur.
The discontent of Russian industrial workers was an important cause of the 1905 revolution. Moreover, it was the most important reason behind the 1905 revolution. However, many other factors also played a major role in the lead up to revolution. The discontent of the Russian industrial workers caused father Gapon to make a petition for the tsar asking for more rights and improvements to the system and the march to the winter palace with the petition ended up causing bloody Sunday another major factor in the revolution. Russification was also one of the main causes of the 1905 revolution as several minority groups in Russia were very unfairly treat and many wanted this changed and joined revolutionary forces. The other causes of the 1905 revolution were the failures of the Russo Japanese war, the policy of Russification and Bloody
Historians have often been perplexed by the fact that the industrial revolution began in Great Britain and quickly spread throughout Europe, but did not develop in any other regions around the world, which is odd because we have seen such equally important advancements in fields like agriculture which developed in various places around the world independently because it was an important new source of energy that was needed to sustain larger communities. (2) This paper will focus on the circumstances of Great Britain how the revolution spread throughout Europe and why the revolution didn’t occur in the relatively advanced country of China.
That was one really bitter downfall for China. They basically had to pay for their own war for a total of $21 million and opium was still traded, not even stopped. I think Britain making those conditions was an act of karma for China’s part. Once the five new trading ports opened, China was confined to learning how to trade with the rest of the world. That was how China became what it is today, rich, powerful, and large.
The 1911 Revolution kicked out the Qing Dynasty and broke the barriers to different developments in China. However, the 1911 Revolution has only provided a framework of a republic and made changes in some particular aspects related to immediate problems and difficulties in society. Hence, the relationship between the revolution and the subsequent development of China was very weak. On one hand, I do not agree with the latter part of the statement that the 1911 Revolution brought new problems to China. The conflicts and problems that China suffered in the early/ mid 1910s were mainly due to the weakness of the military force, conflicting political organizations and disorder in society. On the other hand, I agree with the first part of the statement that the 1911 Revolution did not bring peace to China afterwards. In the following paragraphs, I am going to focus on explaining the reasons of emerging new problems in China and also illustrate my points on the factors of the 1911 Revolution which could not bring in peace to China related to the conditions of the country.
