Imagine the death that occurred on the massacre on September 11, 2001, and multiply that number by 100, that is how many deaths occur every year from obesity. The foremost cause of those horrific deaths is junk food. Junk food is remarkably bad for your well-being and creates many concerns for yourself and society. Junk food leads to a strikingly toxic lifestyle, concerning anyone who chooses to consume more than a healthy amount. People today are heavily exposed to junk foods and other unhealthy foods, such as a candy bar, soda, chips, etc. “Using a random poll of 391 school officials in from public elementary, middle, and high schools, the survey estimates that between 26.6 million and 30.3 million students are exposed in school to advertising of foods of minimal nutritional value or foods high with fat and sugar.” (Davis, Michelle R. "Junk-Food Advertising. page 2") That shows when people are exposed to an unhealthy amount, it does more harm than good. It is best for people to stay away from the junk food and get on a diet, or start eating nutritious foods. “A healthful sports diet can target 85 to 90-percent of calories from quality foods and 10 to 15-percent from “whatever.” Some days “whatever” might be blueberries and other days it might be (guilt-free) blueberry pie with ice cream. Athletes choose not to eat what they love, to stay in shape and stay fit.” (“Should Athletes Eat Junk Food” Team USA, paragraph 3). Dark chocolate and many other foods have small benefits to a person's health but many people abuse them in large amounts which is extremely bad for a person's health.
