Global warming is a war that we should not get involved with because we will lose if changes aren’t made soon. Global warming is the rapid increase in earth’s average surface temperature over the past century due to the fact that greenhouse gases are being released into the atmosphere increasing the earth’s average temperature (EarthObservatory.NASA.org). There are many contributing factors that play a role into the cause of global warming. Greenhouse gasses are gasses such as Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Nitrous Oxide, and F-gasses that trap heat in the atmosphere. The heat that is trapped in the earth’s atmosphere is a slowly melting glaciers, cause sea levels to rise and is messing with the weather patterns. People need to get educated and recognize that global warming is a problem and it might not affect us in our life time but if we continue to ignore the problem out children will be greatly affected by the threats we are seeing right now. Slowly sea levels are rising over time. In the past century sea levels have gone up an average of 4 to 8 inches, and scientist believe that this change is accelerating over time. They predict that by 2100 sea levels will have risen an average of about 10 to 23 inches (nrdc.org). Between the months of January and March of 2002, a piece of the Larsen B shelf in Antarctica collapsed. The Piece of the ice shelf was the size of Rhode Island, scientist found this surprising
and alarming because it just proves that global warming is really affecting us even if we can’t see it happening.
There are many contributing factors in what is really causing global warming. Scientist believe that the number one cause of global warming is humans. Humans emit different greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. Som...

...tinue to rise in the future. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reported North America, Latin America, Europe, Arica, and Asia will be the most impacted regions of global change. North America will have a 5-20 percent decrease in snow in the western mountains, and the cities with heat waves will continue to have longer and hotter heat waves. Latin America eventually lose their tropical forest to savannahs in eastern Amazonia. Many animals will become extinct over time, and humans will suffer water shortages. Europe has an increased risk of flash floods, coastal flooding’s, and the loss of some species. By 2020 Africa food will have become an issue because crops productivity will be compromised. Asia will suffer from fresh water shortages. By 2050 people will be at risk of catching a disease due to flash floods and in some places because of the drought.
Global warming is a scientific, political, and controversial topic. Some believe it is catastrophic, a slow moving killer hiding in the shadows. Others do not even think twice about it as they race by in a Hummer. Global warming is the gradual increase of temperature throughout different climates. It is caused by the greenhouse gas effect in which greenhouse gases, like methane and carbon dioxide, reflect sunlight back and forth. This reflected ultraviolet light bounces between the earth and the ozone layer and becomes trapped, resulting in a gradual rise of temperature. Over time, the slow rise of temperature causes new climates throughout the globe. The article “What Megablazes Tell Us About the Fiery Future of Climate Change” by Tim Dickinson
Global warming has been going on for one to two centuries now. It has affected the earth a lot and not only that , it has also affected the air. Global warming has consequences as stated before , and it usually happens with solar and terrestrial radiation. Even though people believe that all of this is caused by humans. Scientists believe that global warming was going to be caused by sickness or in other words by diseases but it turns out that they were wrong. Not everyone believes that global weather is a bad thing but they just haven’t realized how bad it has affected us. As long as global warming is around the temperatures will keep on rising, animals will keep on decreasing, and the atmosphere will keep on trapping heat. That’s what global warming is all about. It’s all about warming up the atmosphere and affecting those around them.
For a significant number of years it has been evident that global temperatures were rising and that human activity is a major contributing factor to this rise. The rise in temperature is not only heating the planet but having an adverse effect on the global climate.
Global warming is an increase of carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane disrupting the earth’s ecosystem ultimately causing climate changes, this is just one of the tradeoffs of the modern life we live. Some doubt that global warming is a real issue despite the increasing natural disasters, freak weather and populations of species becoming extinct. Global warming is one of the challenges that we are facing today, it is much like the climate changes faced in the past but our climate is changing more rapidly. Wi...
The effects of climate are felt throughout the world, all living things are affected with it. The effects of climate change are affecting directly the human life. It has been noticed that around the globe, seasons are shifting, temperatures are climbing and sea levels are rising. The world compares to century ago, it has changed drastically and it is becoming worse with climate change. Climate change will rapidly alter the lands and waters which we all depends upon for survival which will leave our children thus the future generation with a different world. In the time to come if not much is done for the case of climate change, There will be shortage of food and drinks, many new illnesses and diseases and some part of the world will become in appropriate for living things to live due to natural disaster. It can be that with the rapid Global warming and climate change, one-fourth of Earth’s species could be headed for extinction by the year 2050.
The main cause of global warming is because carbon dioxide and other warming pollutants are gathering in the atmosphere and laying over it like a thick sheet, as well as its effect on the ozone layer. This is trapping the sun's heat and causing the planet to grow increasingly warmer, as well as a variety of other weather shifts.... ... middle of paper ... ...
Climate change has the potential to bring profound consequences to our world if we continue to ignore it. In our times, serious climate changes have been witnessed all over the world. The most visible climate change events that have taken place is global warming, destruction of the ozone layer, irregular climate patterns, increase of major storms, flooding, and erosion of coastlines. These events have affected all nations in the world. Our food supply is directly related to our climate and irregular climate patterns have resulted in a shortage of food in some parts of the world, as farmers are not able to predict the climate and the farming land can become infertile.
On the basis of the evidence, it is accepted that climate change is occurring and the climate will change even further due to our fossil fuel based economy, the increasing number of people and their increasing wealth. The increase in greenhouse gases has already started having impacts on the climate, natural ecosystems and human societies. It is clear that the average surface temperatures have increased and it will continue to do as more carbon dioxide gets released into the atmosphere. The recent warming is unprecedented in both magnitude and speed. The projected warming for the 21st century will expect to create severe problems for natural ecosystems and human societies. Water resources are already suffering from increases stresses, and are likely to be reduced. This will inhibit the growth of crops and adversely affect other water uses such as water use for industries and the water supply for the human population. This will lead to more severe food shortages. The glaciers and ice sheets are already retreating, and will retreat more which will lead to changes in the total and annual cycle of river flow in some rivers, threatening water supplies further. Impact on the ecosystems will affect the distribution and productivity of plant and animal species and water supply. A loss of biodiversity is likely to be accelerated by climate change. There will be an increase in extreme weather events such as increases in flood magnitude and frequencies, increases in drought intensity, frequency and duration as evaporation rates will be greater. Higher average temperatures and possibly increased variability are likely to lead to increased frequency and severity of heat waves, causing additional deaths due to heat stress and vector-borne disea...
One of the most important issues lying in our world today and in the future is climate change. Whether you’re a denier or an acceptor, several scientific studies have found that a storm is coming for us in the future, so to speak. We often ask ourselves, what are these effects we hear of? This leads us to the purpose of this paper, to show that climate change will have drastic effects across the globe. As time progresses, these effects that are constantly spoken of on national news as well as through documentaries have grown to become reality.
Nowadays, climate change is became a major global issue which are affecting our life such as global warming ,mean sea level changing and more extreme weather events etc .According to the research of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2007 ,it showed that the global mean temperature rose by 0.74 °C during the hundred year period from 1906 to 2005. Between 1956 and 2005,the rising rate was 0.13°C per decade in this 50 years , nearly twice the rate in the past 100 years. Eight (2010, 2005, 2003, 2007, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2004) of the last ten years (from 2003 to 2012) rank among the 10 warmest years on record. It seems that climate change is potentially affecting our life.In fact, human activities and natural effect are the causes of climate change.Generally, most of the scientists and government agree that human activities is the main causes of climate change rather than natural causes. Therefore, this essay is going to discuss why human activities change the climate more seriously than natural effect.Afterward,I will also present some possible solution to reduce the climate change.
The subject of global warming is as popular as the president. These both topics have always been hot subjects in everyday life. Global warming is the biggest storm headed in our way. It is also the most important issue of our times. Those ads or public service announcement on TV about global warming might not be the most attractive but the cause behind it is very important. Global warming is one of the major threats our planet is facing. Most scientists prove the fact that global warming is mainly caused by human activities rather than natural cycles. To simplify it, most mechanisms that we use are affecting earth. These mechanisms are created by humans. Therefore, humans are affecting earth.
Climate change is an inevitable phenomenon that is being experienced globally in various forms such as temperature rise. Sea level rise, droughts, floods, hurricanes, landslides, etc. According to the forth assessment report of the IPCC project even with immediate implementation of mitigation strategies global climate change will continue for decades. Climate change is inflicting serious consequences on human wellbeing and will continue to inflict damages in the future. It is estimated that mean global temperature will rise by 1.8 ºC - 4.0 ºC by end of the 21st century (Izaurraade, 2009). A new global climate model predicts that in the coming decade the surface air temperature is likely to exceed existing records (Smith et al., 2007). Growing season temperatures in the tropics and subtropics by end of the 21st century will exceed the most extreme temperature recorded in the history (Battistic and Rosamond, 2009).
Global warming is one of the biggest threats to human kind. It is caused by the raising of earths temperature in the lower atmosphere. Since the industrial revolution the temperature has gone up by 1 degree Fahrenheit of what it has averaged to be for centuries. Doesn't sound like much and your right, but for every degree it goes up already 500 feet of snow won't fall. As in our earth is heating.
There needs to be a reduction if not extinction with the increasing amounts of carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), per-fluorocarbons (PFCs) and nitrous oxide into the atmosphere because it is directly affecting global warming. The combustion of fossil fuels and greenhouse emissions mainly contribute to the increase of these gases. The longer we go without solving this global problem the more conflicts we will have in the future. Although global warming does make the earth warmer there is more to worry about than heating to death. Major concerns revolve around effects on agriculture, water resources, ocean level and coastal regions, and disease. Many scientists and experimenters still disagree with global warming using excuses such as ‘primitive’ climate models, which predict global warming trends, can not accurately simulate the Earth; it is too difficult because there are thousands of variables to consider. With the issue of global warming alternative sources of energy are looked for. “Data indicates that hydrogen is [the] only suitable future fuel.” (Williams, 102). Many scientists agree, but how long will it take for us to get there?
As Robert Frost once said, “ Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire.” This excerpt can relate to the idea of global warming. Global warming can be defined as an increase in the earth's average atmospheric temperature that causes corresponding changes in climate and that may result from the greenhouse effect. During the past 10,000 years the earth has been in an ever-growing cycle that has significantly changed the climate. These changes are becoming more prevalent in our world today in the past 150 years. Scientists have been analyzing the causes and effects of the greenhouse effect and many other issues that global warming has presented. As John Houghton states in his book, Global Warming the Complete Briefing, on page 2 “ The 1980s and 1990s were unusually warm. Globally speaking, the decades have been the warmest since accurate records began somewhat over a hundred years ago and these unusually warm years are continuing into the twenty-first century.” There are countless records that show that our world as a whole is getting warmer, and the facts cannot be disputed. Everyone in the world today is experiencing the effects of global warming. These effects might be small now, but if we don’t protect our planet now then the consequences will greatly be increased.
