Friday was not just any ordinary day at Smirk linVille Jr. High. This was the day of the big science fair I was so excited the night before I laid out my clothes, Had the cereal Out and My Toothbrush out (with toothpaste on it). Sadly the excitement as bad as I laid up in my Bed listening to my playlist on my IPod until it died. The morning that laid ahead of me could not have gone worse. I woke up 20 minutes late, only to notice that my kakis had a stain by the upper left pocket. I Rushed downstairs and poured my favorite cereal LIFE just was I was about to grab the milk and pour it I realized it was empty. “Wow this could not have gone worse” I shout at myself in anger I look over to see my brother slurping the milk through a straw. I finish up everything and rush to the bus stop down the block barely making it. I look around for Ferris (my best friend) but no sign of him. I ended up sitting next to Chris P. Bacon. “I don’t know Bobo he is probably late and got a ride from his dad” . We sat and said nothing for the whole ride, right as we pulled up hoards of kids tried to get out of the bus at the same time which caused a huge traffic jam. “I am gonna be late again” said Chris with a moan “It’ll clear up soon” I say to kinda cheer him up As the day went on no Ferris and I began to get worried. I didn't see him at Lunch nor at FC/S but come Science time I began to worry that he wouldn't show up. He was my partner. I sweat bullets waiting to go into the science class. The teacher Immediately told us to grab our project’s and meet in the Gym in 5 minutes I go to my locker and I open it to find it completely empty; tears slowly start to roll down my cheeks. “It will be okay” said Chris “You can tell Mrs. Kapper-Snapper that Ferris has it. “Thanks Chris but no” I said “Hey Bobo we have a Science Fair to win” Shouted Ferris from down the hallway He begins to sprint down the hall holding a green sheet of
In the competition known as Science Olympiad, there is an event build called “Boomilevers.” This event is comprised of building a structure to be attached on one side to a wall and bear the maximum weight possible on the other side, while the structure itself weighs as little as possible. The Boomilever is a long standing Olympiad Event and requires acute attention to detail and a critical mind in architecture in order to achieve the maximum efficiency score possible. There are many limitations and guidelines set forth in the Olympiad rules, defining how tall and long the boomilever must be and how the boomilever must attach to the wall. This leads to construction much like a real life situation, where resources must be utilized efficiently.
Ferris Bueller is a young, rebellious, high school senior who gets away with just about everything. One day, he decides to play hooky and skip school for the ninth time. He tricks his parents into thinking he is sick with his signature fake stomach cramp and clammy palms. After his parents leave for work, Bueller calls up his rigid, hypochondriac best friend Cameron to join him on his day off. Initially refusing to leave the comfort of his bed, Cameron finally is persuaded to not only join Ferris, but to also bring his Father’s precious Ferrari out on the town. The first stop on their rebellious journey is to bail out Bueller’s girlfriend, Sloane, from school. They do so by calling Ed Rooney,
One of the key questions raised by Rupert Sheldrake in the Seven Experiments That Could Change the World, is are we more than the ghost in the machine? It is perfectly acceptable to Sheldrake that humans are more than their brain, and because of this, and in actual reality “the mind is indeed extended beyond the brain, as most people throughout most of human history have believed.” (Sheldrake, Seven Experiments 104)
Every evening after school I would flee home to the confinements of my room and bury my face in the bright white light of the iPad; and everytime I put it down, there was this biting restlessness to pick it up again. My social life diminished as my hours wasted on the iPad began to rise, and I began to feel the lost energy from many late nights. Though after months, an epiphany came. I awoke to find a naive middle schooler whose life was filled with nothing but the waste that fills much of Netflix and YouTube. I then asked my Mother to take the iPad away and almost magically my quality of life improved: I did better in school, went out with friends, and felt energized throughout the day. Yet, I worry. Not for me, but for those who are one step from the trap I fell into. An author, many years earlier, had the same worry. He explored this worry

The unpolished floors and graffitied lockers with pictures of the Beatles glued to them indicated to me that no summer cleaning had been done at school, for what seemed like several years. As I walked, a neatly folded piece of paper, which I placed in my pocket earlier this morning, grazed my outer thigh was not letting me forget its purpose. My palms were sweaty and all I could think of was that on the first day of school, I had decided to tell my crush that I liked her. What a stupid decision. I decided to wash my hands and then put my plan into action. My walk across the hallway continued till I reached the guy’s bathrooms. Just as I was about to push the door, it opened and out ran a blonde and petite girl. My crush. Her face was surprised and her hazel eyes were
On the bus ride home, I noticed that my sister wasn’t there which then triggered sceneries of what could've happened to her, all with unpleasant endings. On the bus, I saw my brother and felt relief that it wasn't him. My sister was still nowhere to be found so I asked him if he knew where she was but he also didn't know.
When it was time to pick throwing partners, Sid and I were like magnets and found each other in less than a second. We started to throw the neon yellow ball to each other for a boring fifteen minutes and began the dreaded small talk. “How has your spring break been treating you?” I asked. “Good,” she answered. I could tell she wasn’t going to ask me, so I screamed “Mine has been amazing,¨ If only I knew that in fifteen minutes my life would take a turn for the worse.
I walked in and my stomach made a flip-flop like riding “The Scream” at Six Flags. Everyone was staring at me! With their curios eyes and anxious to know who I was. I froze like ice and felt the heat rise through my face. My parents talked to my teacher, Ms.Piansky. Then my mom whispered “It’s ti...
I walked in, to find a place to quickly hid and I did. It was in small fit inside a kitchen cabinet under the sink. There was a small hole I could look through. I heard the front door open and quickly shut. I prayed that those killers, whom I could no longer call a brother, would never find me. I heard heavy breathing, but not a single word. They were panicking and out of breathe, running towards one of the bedrooms. I was shocked, I didn’t know there was someone who was able to escape those heathens, but then I realized I was one of them. I told them about the party, and they started to plan about killing everyone, I said nothing to the police and it was my fault. Then the door was swoon open again, and I knew, that was my brother. He yelled out that the others had left from the woods and searching for not me but someone else. I’ve only heard footsteps afterwards and I could see someone sprint toward the living room and got an object, which looked like a radio. I was sure that my brother was knocked out since, the person who had the radio was talking with someone for at least 20 minutes and then ran out the door. So, I went out of my hiding spot, and quickly ran to the door, but it
I always had trouble understanding others. Growing up I never played with the other children. My grandfather said it was because my mind was too busy thinking of brilliant idea to actually talk to the others. I believed him. I believed in him for 17 years, that all stopped today. It all ended when I was riding my bike to the local market so I could pick up scrap parts for my grandfather. He said they were for his hovertech76 His prized antique hover car. As I made my way down the pavement I saw the market coming up from the horizon and suddenly everything freezes The birds in the sky, the leaves in the air, my bike, everything. I can’t move my head. I am paralyzed. “What’s happening?” I thought frantically to myself “Someone help! Someone please!” But just a quickly as I was put into this horrifying state I was snapped back to my bike. Birds chirping the leaves hit the floor but something is different, I am in the market that was barely in eye sight just moments ago. I slam my brakes. Directing my unblinking eyes towards the ground I start to breath heavily. “What on Earth just happened?” My thoughts scatter, my heart begins to race, Darkness.
I let out a withered sigh, which caused me to choke in the middle of yet another sob. I had had enough. I weakly pulled myself out of the pool and walked to my towel. I grabbed the huge, orange and white stripped thing and wrapped it around my shivering body, hoping to find some warmth and comfort; but even my monstrous beach towel could not cut the chill I felt inside. I started to walk to the changing room past the hundred faces I knew nothing of, but by now were familiar. I had searched each face a hundred times hoping to see someone I knew. Finally, I realized that I knew none of them, and the person I was looking for just wasn't coming.
They are heading down aisle 11 then aisle 9 until they lost sight of the cart when the cart they were riding on stopped for 12 packs of soda. Patrick starts to cry due to the loss of his parents. Brandon the Bagel walks up to Patrick and told him “you should never give up there is always another way”. Brandon then grabs a piece of a paper and draws out his plan on how to save Patrick’s family. The only thing that is bad about Brandon's plan is it risks his life.
As I clamber off the bus, the grouchy driver grabs my shoulder. “What in the bloody heck were you thinking!” she hollered “I don’t get paid enough to have to deal with idiotic boys who risk their life on my bus!” I retorted, “I shouldn't have to put up with a snitch who is a…” I stopped myself before I said anything I would regret saying. “I got to go,” I said with haste and ran away before she had anything to say.
...e greatest prank in our school’s history. And she stopped Mrs. DeCostia from stealing from Mrs. Redrik” Then he took my hand and led me down the hall, past all of my friends, to the stairs. I stopped. “What was that for?” “I was just giving credit where credit was due.” He slipped his hand into his pocket and pulled out a rather large ring. “You knew the whole time?!?” “Yeah when we and Matt moved the desk it fell out and I picked it up, I was waiting to give it back until DeCostia got busted.” “Oh my god…” “Anyway, what are we doing tonight? Movies, ice-cream, maybe some pizza?” “We’re hanging out tonight?” “Yeah I have to hang out with my girlfriend to celebrate the undermining of our psycho home wrecking teacher.” “Your girlfriend?” “Yeah...” He said into my hair as he put his hands around my waist and pulled me closer to him “Who else would I hang with tonight?”
