Autumn Smith Ms. Marton Language Arts 7-1 16 November 2017 The Best Candy Bar Ever! “I have a surprise for you!” My dad said, turning the corner into my bedroom. “You will find out soon,” he added, leaning onto my bed. Yay!” I yelled, jumping out of bed. It was about 1:30 p.m on a warm, summer day. It was the day after we got home from Florida really late and that's why I slept in so late. “I bet I'm getting my new kitten,” I thought, but then I remembered we were not supposed to get him for another week. My dad popped back into my bedroom and said, “Okay let's go.” I wondered why he was wearing a jacket in the middle of summer, but I was so excited to get my surprise, it was irrelevant. We got into his red car and we were off. …show more content…
“If I tell you that would give away the surprise,” my dad replied as he pulled out of our garage. I look in the back seat of the car and there were three bags with big letters saying “Pet Supply Plus” on them, and there was a grey blanket sitting on the chair but I still didn't know what was going on. “ We are almost here!” my dad stated, turning the corner of my favorite restaurant. “What, I have no clue where we are,” I said to myself. We pulled into my dad friends house named Debbie, she breeds kittens! “We are getting my kitten,” I shouted, “Thank you so much.” It all made sense now, the pet supplies plus bags were supplies for the kitten, my dad was wearing a jacket because Debbie keeps her house colder for the cats, and finally the velvety grey blanket sitting in the back was for me to hold the kitten on the way home. We stepped onto her porch and knocked on her door, “bang bang bang”... my heart was racing I was so excited. “Hello!” she said, inviting us into her house. As we walked into her small, but cozy house I was greeted my three cats. Debbies house always smelled like a pumpkin candle she had...I loved that candle it was my favorite
Madelyn McQueen - Twin Falls Idaho Have you ever wondered how the delicious, classic treat came to be? Well, any event you can think of after the date of 1938, the cookie was bound to be there. Several stories about how the country’s favorite baked good came to be, have been spread and believed by thousands. For example, Ruth Wakefield unexpectedly ran out of nuts for a regular ice-cream cookie recipe and, in desperation, replaced them with chunks chopped out of a bar of Nestle bittersweet chocolate. Another story is said that the vibrations from an industrial mixer caused chocolate stored on a shelf in the Toll House kitchen to fall into a bowl of cookie dough as it was being mixed. Sadly, all of these stories are false, says Carolyn Wyman in her recently published “Great American Chocolate Chip Cookie Book.” In her book, Wyman offers a more believable version of how the cookie came to be. Wyman argues, that Ruth Wakefield, who had a degree in household arts and a reputation for perfectionism, would not have allowed her restaurant, which was famed for its desserts, to run out of such
Susie’s mother opened the door to let Molly, Susie’s babysitter, inside. Ten-month old Susie seemed happy to see Molly. Susie then observed her mother put her jacket on and Susie’s face turned from smiling to sad as she realized that her mother was going out. Molly had sat for Susie many times in the past month, and Susie had never reacted like this before. When Susie’s mother returned home, the sitter told her that Susie had cried until she knew that her mother had left and then they had a nice time playing with toys until she heard her mother’s key in the door. Then Susie began crying once again.
The novel, Of Mice and Men, is one that takes place during the Great Depression. It is a story of the struggle to survive and live on your own in a vicious world where every man is fighting for their own successes. One of the many characters who this applies to is Candy, an old swamper who has been working on ranches his whole life. In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, Candy is a futile part of the ranch. As he is getting older, he is becoming increasingly weak around the ranch and now fully realizes how expendable he is. Candy is living in a time period where there is no sympathy for the weak. Jobs are hard to come by and hope is at an all time low. Throughout the novel, there are an abundance of instances where Candy comes to a cognisance of the loneliness he is facing
My favorite child hood snack was Hershey’s Cookies and cream white chocolate candy bar. I couldn’t get enough of them when I was younger. So I was thrilled with this assignment to see what ingredients this delicious candy contains. The five interesting ingredients I found in this candy bar is Vegetable Oil, Cocoa Butter, Folic Acid, Shea, and Corn Syrup.
I woke up my dad and told him that it was already light outside. He jumped out of bed and said we had to go. I went outside and started up the truck while my dad was getting dressed. When I opened the door to the trailer I noticed clear blue skies and a light frost that covered the ground. I jumped in the driver's seat of the 1990 white GMC Sierra, pushed in the clutch, and turned the key. The truck hesitated for about ten seconds and then started. I turned on the defroster and the windshield wipers so we wouldn?t have to scrape the frost.
Marie’s grandparent’s had an old farm house, which was one of many homes in which she lived, that she remembers most. The house was huge, she learned to walk, climb stairs, and find hiding places in it. The house had a wide wrap around porch with several wide sets of stairs both in front and in back. She remembers sitting on the steps and playing with one of the cats, with which there was a lot of cats living on the farm...
As my brother, sister, dad, and I pull up to the house, I look at it with uncertainty, not knowing what to expect. It was a small blue house and had flowers planted around it. We walked up to the house with me in the lead. That didn't last long though. I was too nervous, so I stood still and turned around, waiting for my dad to get ahead of me.
Although this experience left Donna fearful of large dogs, 10 months later as Donna and Ramona are walking in the park they come across a Pitbull mix puppy that has been left for dead in the bushes. Donna and Ramona took the puppy to the Guilford County animal shelter in Greensboro, North Carolina. The puppy had severe second and third-degree burns over most of her body; her ears were burned off, and she had a broken jaw and teeth. Initially, they were going to euthanize the puppy; however, when Donna went in to say goodbye, the puppy licked her hand and this melted her heart. The vet had informed Donna that it would cost $17,000 for the puppy’s care; nevertheless, Donna found a way to acquire the funds. Donna and Ramona went on the evening news with the story and photos of the puppy. When the news anchor asked Donna the puppy’s name, she replied, “Her name is Susie.” Shortly thereafter funds came rolling into the animal shelter for Susie’s Miracle
When the lonely puppy got to his new home, he was scared. He wondered, “Where am I? Where is my mom? Are my brothers and sisters here? ”. Aden's house was huge. There were so many things to sniff, and lots of items to chew on. The lonely puppy started to cry. Aden picked him up and brought him to his mom. “Mom, why is he crying?” he asked. “He’s sad that he’s away from his family. Maybe you can cheer him up by giving him a name,” she suggested. “Great idea!” he

As my Aunt and I entered Judy's house which was a fifteen minute drive from where I live, I noticed cut black and white cat long haired cat with a pink nose and mysterious slanted eyes sneaking up on me near the corner of the hallway of the house. Judy shared with me that Katie was spayed, what foods to feed the cat and that she was tramatized. Judy had shared with me that she took Katie to the Shelter to try to find the owners but to no aval. You see, Katie had showed up at Judy's arcadia door so Judy took her in and kept her for several months before deciding to give the cat away.
As I waited outside my mother’s home on a chilly afternoon, I had seen a dog barking at an innocent white cat. Of course my mom lived in a neighborhood that was polluted with animals. Maybe, it was because she grew up on a farm with about five dogs so for her to see animals was a normal thing. Somehow, she was gifted to love and nurture. The vibe she gave was natural and impossible to miss.
The dark, black sky was covered with a million bright shining stars. The moon shimmered above a small town in the suburbs of London. The gentle wind swept past the bare trees and danced with the leaves below it, creating a colourful array of orange, yellow, red and brown. Across the street, a light was on in a small house where a tall, dark haired woman stood, talking to her two children Nicola and Erin. While she was tucking them in Erin asked, “Mummy, will you tell us a story please?” “I’m sorry but its time to go to sleep now,” she said. “Please mummy,” begged Nicola “Okay but only one story,” she replied “This story is about how I got lost when I was a young girl and how I met an incredible man. It all began when…”
A spattering of dark, ominous storm clouds, the foretellers of calamity, marred the peaceful blue sky. And yet, desire to obtain companionship blinded our family from seeing any warnings on the horizon. A feline companion, was what; my sister and I, who; to alleviate the lurking loneliness, why.
That One Night Ever since I was a kid, my parents always told me to never steal anything or commit piracy. This is one thing I will always follow for as long as I live. I remember when I was 7, I stole a candy bar, my parents caught me and I got in an immense amount of trouble. It's strange how I can still recall this event, even to this day.
