That One Night Ever since I was a kid, my parents always told me to never steal anything or commit piracy. This is one thing I will always follow for as long as I live. I remember when I was 7, I stole a candy bar, my parents caught me and I got in an immense amount of trouble. It's strange how I can still recall this event, even to this day. My week has fairly normal, I come home around 7 p.m., then attend the bar. I usually go to ¨Kevin’s Bar¨ and buy myself a 20$ drink, despite having only $30 left before I go broke. All the ladies avoided me because they saw how miserable I was, buying that expensive drink for myself with the little money I have left. The rest of my money was gone within the next 10 minutes. After drinking the last of my beer, I started to feel ditzy. Drunk, I approached the girls in the V.I.P. area, but they all ignored me. Before I knew it, I was being dragged away by two large men. Slowly, I felt myself blacking out, and the last thing I heard was female distress from the doors behind me. Before I got dragged away, someone placed items in my hand. I called my wife to bring me home later that night, and when I was home the last thing I remembered was using the copying machine. Then I blacked out. …show more content…

I had got some sleep when Boom!!!. “What's wrong” I cry out hoping for an answer. It never comes. I run out to the hall with my belongings. “Hey lady” I hear from behind me.
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck follows the life of two men trying to achieve the American Dream. A recurring circumstance that affects many of the characters in this historical fiction novella is injury. One of these characters impacted by an injury is Candy. Candy’s injury demonstrates his decreasing chances of living the American Dream as time goes on through its location, cause, and permanence.
I am not the type of girl that gets startled easily but, you can’t help but to get chills when you watch the film Candy Man and read the novel The Forbidden. Both perspectives of this scary yet insightful figure is enough to keep you on your toes while following each story. The Candy Man and The Forbidden keeps you intrigued with its turns and twist to the story. I found it hard to follow the story line but, this worked to the writers benefit. The twist and turns forced me to pay attention to things I would have missed if everything was clear. One aspect of both stories that was clear was, the difference between the image of the Candy Man in the Candy Man and The Forbidden.
On 11/23/17, at approximately 1718 hours, I escorted Inmate Lemke, Tyler T372795 out of Durango 6 for questioning. I read Inmate Lemke his Miranda Rights from the standard issued Miranda Rights Card. I asked If Inmate Lemke understood his rights? Inmate Lemke stated, "Yes." I asked Inmate Lemke if he was willing to answer any of my questions? Inmate Lemke stated, "Yes." I asked Inmate Lemke If he knew if there was any known contraband discovered in his cell (#17) on 11/22? Inmate Lemke stated, "No." I asked Inmate Lemke if he was sure he had no idea that there was a shank in his cell? Inmate Lemke stated, "No." I asked Inmate Lemke If he knew who the shank belonged to? Inmate Lemke stated, "No."
Candyman (1992) directed by Bernard Rose tells the story of a graduate student whose research on urban legends becomes reality and consumes and threatens her life. The viewer of this film is not able to reconcile whether Helen Lyle, the graduate student, or Candyman is the perpetrator of the kidnapping of baby Anthony McCoy, the murder of Helen’s friend and fellow graduate student Bernadette Walsh, or the brutal gutting of Helen’s psychiatrist. Is Candyman real or a figment of Helen’s obsessive research and interest in the legend? This uncertainty roots this film in “the fantastic,” a phenomenon discussed by French theorist, Tzvetan Todorov. Todorov declares “the fantastic” to hinge on “the reader’s hesitation.” In other words, when the viewer has “nearly reached the point of believing” but hesitates, that is when a story becomes fantastic (Todorov 31). This paper will discuss hesitation within the film Candyman. The film’s greatest linchpin to “the fantastic” is the indefinability of Candyman’s monstrosity. Rose’s “monster”
What do you think of when you hear the word kiss? Milton Hershey did not want you to think of the romantic gesture of lips smacking together. Instead he invented the Hershey Kiss. This great invention is mouthwatering, milk chocolate that millions of people consume every year. The famous Kiss was invented in 1907 by Milton S. Hershey. Hershey wanted to intertwine romance and his passion of making chocolate. This chocolate sensation became popular for its odd tear-shaped piece of chocolate. Hershey Kisses have evolved into the fascinating chocolates people continue eating today. The multimillion dollar company continues to expand its candy making. The Hershey’s Chocolate Company took time to develop, but once they came
"Many years ago a bunch of girls in my house [supposedly] were drinking and celebrating a girl’s 21st birthday party.” She went on to explain that drinking in sorority houses is forbidden by the university, and that a sorority would get thrown out of their own house if the university or the police ever found out. My friend told this story very well. I felt like I should turn out the lights and give her a flashlight to hold up to her face. She went on to say that, according to the legend, everyone was very drunk and pushed the birthday girl to keep drinking. It is tradition that the birthday boy or girl takes 21 shots on his or her 21st birthday. Unfortunately for this young woman, she passed out before she made it to her benchmarked 21st shot. The women, terrified that if they brought her to a hospital they would get into trouble for drinking in their house, took the birthday girl to her bed and tried taking care of her themselves. Before midnight (when she would have turned 21), the young woman died of alcohol poisoning. Ever since that night, the sorority house has been haunted. The storyteller told me that a friend she knows once had her keyboard pulled out of her desk in the middle of the night and the keys mysteriously started moving on their own. She said that toilets inexplicably flush and the sinks in the house sometimes turn on without anybody touching them.
That night I was disoriented. My mother wasn’t home and I wanted to call her but I couldn’t recall her number,
Many people experience tragedy in their lives and tragedy can change someone forever. The change could be a positive change or a negative change depending on the choice of the individual. One woman, Candy Lightner, had three tragedies occur in her life that not only changed her and her family and friends forever but also pushed Candy to make a positive change in this great nation.
On 1/27/17, I, Deputy Mathews and my co-Deputies Deputy Ray and Deputy Clindaniel were dispatched to the high risk section of the mental health jail, in the back of Eastland Sheriff’s Department at 1:36 P.M.. Deputy Ray, Deputy Clindaniel and I arrived to the jail cell at 1:38 P.M.. When we arrived at the scene, we put on our personal protective equipment and noticed that the lights were turned off inside the cell and the cell door was open. Shortly after we arrived, Deputy Clindaniel turned on the lights inside the cell. Soon after, I went inside to take pictures of the crime scene. I first started in the right corner of the cell and went counter clockwise, taking pictures from the corners of the cell. Next, I took close up shots of each of the evidence. Lastly, I stood on the outside of the cell to take a picture of the whole crime scene.
Meta: Candy is the theme of the moment within the world of slots, with Mobilots jumping on the trend with its latest release. Promising to deliver a taste worth savouring, is this game as sugary sweet as it proclaims?
I awake to lukewarm water dripping down my forehead from a damp towel. I feel a thick liquid against my back. I scan the area, Unfamiliar. I find myself lying in a cot in a filthy room. The sight room itself was depressing, not that it was in extremely bad conditions but it was all…brown, the kind of brown that makes you feel depressed. It reeked of fish and motor oil, one of the queerest combinations of scents I have encountered. My ears start to pick up the deep monotones of a man speaking in other room. In my drowsy state I couldn’t make out exactly what he said but I did manage to g...

As we entered the emergency room, I could smell alcoholic based cleaning fluid and sterile, latex gloves. We made our way over to the counter. I was dragging my feet. When the woman at the reception desk asked me what was wrong I broke down. I couldn’t answer. Ami stepped in and whispered to the woman that I had been “sexually assaulted.” Paleness took the healthy glow from the woman’s face.
