Right now in the United States there is a war going on - a war between US Americans and Illegal Mexican immigrants. It has been an increasing problem in the last decade and when asking Americans, especially in the south, what problem is the biggest threat to national security, one of the first mentioned are “Illegal immigration”.
Every year, over a million illegal immigrants try to cross the border between the US and Mexico. A lot of them get caught and some even dies in the attempt.
The problem is so comprehensive that the border patrol can’t handle it. Therefore a group of, mainly, senior citizens have gathered to help the border patrol. The seniors are often former police officers or soldiers.
The creators of this project, started in Arizona, Jim Gilchrist and Chris Simcox is seeing this as some kind of their “national duty”.
But what happens when somebody, so patriotic, willing to defend their country with their life crosses the road of immigrants with eyes filled with sheer desperation, willing to do anything just to stay alive?
The rumor says “murder”.
It surprises me that the vigilantes, as the Minutemen are called by the state, can’t see this in a bigger perspective, and solve the problem without guns and killings. Even the Border Patrol is some kind of tired of these “Border protectors”, because they are a danger to all – untrained civilians trying to perform law-enforcing functions.
Even though the law-enforcers are against this project, it has been very successful and “The Minutemen Project” is planning to expand to other countries with similar problems.
The problem gets into some kind of loop, because those who avoid such a violent circumstance and get caught anyways are just transported back to the Mexican side of t...

Of course the immigration needs to be legal, but if it is good for both sides of the border, why not make it legal?
I bet a lot of those who are being this patriotic; defending the “true Americans” and the constitution would be sad the day that their beloved country United States of America was declared bankrupt.
Why not be open-minded and profit from those who want to live and work hard, especially when your country’s economy depends on these illegal immigrants?
America is based on immigrants – why are the new immigrants suddenly an abomination?
I think, that this extract of a quote makes my point quite clear:
“A free America… means just this: individual freedom for all, rich or poor.”

In Borderlands, the realities of what happens by the border instill the true terror that people face every day. They are unable to escape and trapped in a tragic situation. After reading my three classmates’ papers, I was able to learn a lot more about this piece than I originally encountered just on my own. I was able to read this piece in a completely new light and expand on ideas that I did not even think of.
Recently illegal immigration has become a very pressing issue among people. Many people around the borders are being greatly affected by the issue and think immediate action needs to be taken to put a stop to the issue. The Documentary Border War: Battle Over Illegal Immigration takes a stand on the issue using many examples of pathos, ethos, and logos to try and persuade people that illegal immigration is a very serious issue and we need to put a stop to it. This documentary follows the lives of people who have been affected by illegal immigration, and explains how they feel about the issue. Another way that people can look at the issue of illegal immigration is through the eyes of the immigrants, and the reasons why they might be trying migrate to another country. The documentary Wetback: The Undocumented Documentary focuses on the issue from this point of view. This documentary uses pathos and logos to show the lives and hardships of those people who are trying to migrate to a new country. Although Wetback used many examples of pathos and logos to show the struggles of the migrants, Border War did a better job showing pathos by following the lives of people who were affected by the illegal immigrants they were also very persuasive with ethos by following credible people.
The primary function of the Border Patrol Agency is "Line Watch"(web), which involves the apprehension of terrorists, smugglers and illegal people at the border. The book ‘Border Patrol nation’ by Tod Miller is a classic example of the Border patrol agency day to day activities and work culture. Tod Miller has researched and written about US-Mexican border issues for last 15 years. The book contains eleven chapters, which are well structured and inter related in respect to the arguments, evident and stories. This makes the book well
The minutemen and their world: As the title says "their world" this is exactly the basis that Gross take when he wrote the book. Rather than focusing on the war during that time like normal American Revolution stories, Gross focuses on the people as a community and life before, during, and after the war in the community. Gross presents himself as one who lived in the community because he seems to know a lot about the community as he was present in it.
Joshua Davis writes how on a drive back to Phoenix there was an immigration checkpoint, “Everybody’s heart rate kicked up…and Oscar prepared for the worst. He imagined being torn from his family and dropped across the border” (107). This is a constant fear illegal immigrants live with. Since my parents and oldest brother had no papers, I lived with constant paranoia. I was scared that from one moment to the next my family will be taken from me, and that I would have to grow up in a foster home without them. This fear was always there whenever I saw police, no matter the reason police was there. Illegal immigrants wake up every day with the uncertainty if it will be last day they see their families. I felt the same fear Oscar and the boys felt that day, because it will be horrible to be separated from a
In “The Border Patrol State” Leslie Silko makes accusations of the border patrol’s mistreatment of American citizens of Mexican decent, making the argument with almost evidence. Silko, a critically acclaimed poet, sees the border patrol as a governmental assembly addicted to interrogation, torture, and the murder of those they see fit.
...The hard work of their labor should not be overlooked, for such a small group of people they cover a lot of ground. Border patrol will continue to change as different concerns arise in around the world. It is part of being in such a culturally diverse nation to deal with these kinds of issues more then others. As the world changes, our values must remain the same.
However, not everyone that travels into Texas and into the US crosses in hopes of establishing themselves here. A large part of them actually flee their homes in order to escape the violence that has erupted within their countries.(Source 5) As long as the violence continues in Mexico and Central America, people will continue to flee to the Texas. Bigger border walls will not be able to stop this. However, ending the drug war will. It will also undoubtedly decrease the amount of drugs that enter into our country as well.

Once they realize resources are being consumed more than the production rate, implementing new laws to produce more resources can easily be done. Also, legal immigrants pay taxes, meaning the government receives more funds when immigrants are coming legally. With more funds, the government can provide better to the needs of citizens, eliminating the fear of running out of resources. Another argument is that immigrants who are living in a country illegally are wasting the government’s money. An example is that the children of illegal immigrants attend schools that are funded by tax paying citizens, the loss of money could go to getting new books rather than to be given to students who do not pay taxes ("Negative Effects of Illegal Immigration").
The Mexican-American border barriers were originally built as part of a three-pronged approach to diminish illicit contraband, drug smuggling, and illegal immigrants. This operation would curtail drug transport routes from Central America. Three headquarters were established along the Unites States border: operation gatekeeper in California, Operation Hold-the-Line in Texas, and Operation Safeguard in Arizona. These strategically placed headquarters have done an outstanding job securing our borders the past decade, however with drug smuggling on the rise, they require much more support from the government. Regrettably, adversaries of the barriers claim that they are more of a political gambit to instigate foreign affairs and a complete waste of taxpayers’ money. These opponents see the United States-Mexico barrier as an unsuccessful deterrent to illegal immigrants and unwanted drugs that ultimately and inaptly endangers the security and wellbeing of immigrants seeking refuge in the States.
As anyone can be charged of participating in suspected criminal activity, the common questioning glance that all have witnessed is especially detrimental for illegal
The issue of unauthorized immigration through Southwest border crossing has been debated for years, however, it has recently been brought to the spotlight with the presidential election of Donald Trump, as he persistently promises the public that he will stop the flow of illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central American countries by securing the borders with a massive wall. Most Trump supporters believe that immigration is a “big problem” because of the negative views they hold against undocumented immigrants. Some of these views include that undocumented immigrants take American jobs from citizens, are less hardworking and honest, or commit serious crimes (Doherty). A significant percentage of of these Trump supporters are in support of
Within the past few months since President Trump’s inauguration, many have become worried about what this means for those who have arrived undocumented. He has promised mass deportations of illegal immigrants and even to build a massively expensive wall to “help” protect us from the rapists and criminals from entering our country. There have already been numerous raids happening throughout the U.S., but these individuals are not the major criminals that the media wants us to believe, many of which have only been convicted of minor things such as a traffic violation or shoplifting (Press, 2017). However, there is another group of individuals who have journeyed to the United States out of desperation, who are under attack by the government with the threat of deportation:
