Global warming has been the biggest climate change crisis nowadays. The main reason of the crisis is large-scale use of fossil fuels causing emissions of large amounts of greenhouse gases nearly a century. Consequently, the global precipitation has been distributed and glaciers and permafrost melt. Other than that rising sea levels will results in unbalance of natural ecosystems threatening human food supply and living conditions. However humans are increasingly aware of global warming would bring catastrophic changes to the Earth so that many solutions have been discussed nowadays. In this paper, Beijing will be the major player and initiatives for global warming will be discussed and analyzed based on Beijing as the background.

In fact the electric vehicle has been regarded as the best alternative to fuel cars in the future. Because the electric vehicle will not run by fuel which has been considered by many experts in many years later will be exhausted. As a result, world’s auto giants competitively invest heavily in electric vehicle research and development. For instance Tesla Motors which has been the pioneer of electric vehicles in the world is now gaining ever-increasing popularity globally. Tesla Motors change the global energy structure and provide a paradigm shift to the automobile industry. Other than that it contributes a lot to solving dependency of global transportation on oil which is one of the most important culprits for global climate change. However Tesla also suffers from some flaws that hinder the development of electric vehicles. For example the expensive production costs make the market price of the Tesla is difficult to achieve expected standard. Consequently the electric vehicle is difficult as popular as a normal car. In fact ordinary consumers will pay more attention to the economy of a vehicle but not whether it is environmental friendly. In addition the low battery life cannot meet the needs of people travelling long distances. Actually Tesla Models has promised that they would establish rapid charging stations network across the United States and all of Tesla 's electric car charging stations can be quickly filled with …show more content…
However catalytic converter has been the most effective way to reduce harmful emissions. It can reduce the overall activation energy to improve the probability of reaction which the exhaust gas is converted to harmless gas. Other than that Catalyst itself remains the original state after the chemical reaction, which avoids the possibility of blocking after long-term use and also this can increase its service life. However the high cost of the catalytic converter hinders its development. Moreover the catalytic converter actually does not contribute to solving the global warming because it converts the exhaust gas into carbon dioxide and water which is culprit of global warming. Therefore, although the catalytic converter can decrease the harmful of emissions but it cannot solve the problem of global warming.
From the aspect of policies and regulations, also the solutions can be divided into four respects.
• Levy a tax on car pollution
Car pollution tax can be levied to the size of the car engine displacement which means the greater the displacement, the higher tax credits will
The Automotive, or electric car industry particularly, comprises all those companies and activities involved in the manufacture of electric motor vehicles (EV), including most components, such as engines, bodies and rechargeable batteries or another energy storage device. The industry’s principal products are passenger automobiles. Despite the fact that the first electric cars were produced in 1880s , the advances in internal combustion engines, especially the electric starter, soon diminished the relative advantages of the electric car and became the dominant design in the market. Due to this the EV was almost a forgotten industry staying in the early stage of development, conforming to less than 1% of the automotive stock
...ese dangerously harmful gasses would be released into our atmosphere by all combustion engines. Although the catalytic converter when operating at its optimal temperature can break down over 95% percent of the harmful gasses produced by the engine it does not do a well at all when not at high temperatures. It takes about five miles of driving for most vehicles to reach a temperature at which the reactions will reach near completion, before this temperature the catalytic converter does practically nothing to convert these harmful gases. Some catalytic converters now have coils running from the engine to the catalytic converter to heat the catalytic converter to its optimal temperature soon after the engine has started to produce harmful gasses. With this improvement the catalytic converter can effectively reduce almost all of the carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide.
When the Tesla Model S was first released, Consumer Reports named the Electric Vehicle (EV) the most remarkable auto ever tested. The consumer protection publication; that has been looking out for their readers since 1936; said that the Flagship vehicle from Elon Musk’s Motor Company, was essentially flawless. Its performance on the track and in safety testing was second to none. However, due to a drop in quality class; from average to below; the Tesla Model S has been removed from Consumer Reports’ Recommended List.
Tesla Motors Case Study Tesla Motors is a company that produces and sells automobiles. Tesla is not an old automobile company. Tesla specializes in all electric cars that run 100 percent on battery and focuses on the future. Tesla is looking into the future and realizes that fossil fuels will eventually run out. Tesla is moving toward a zero-emission future for the better.
“What we need to do is really improve energy efficiency standards, develop in full scale renewable and alternative energy and use the one resource we have in abundance, our creativity.” (Lois Capps) There are many ways we can utilize our abundance of creativity. Some have yet to be discovered, but some are being sought out today. One of these is the rise of the electric car. Despite a rough start competing with petroleum cars, electric cars will see a spark in popularity in the automotive market within the next few years with new models being developed and more charge stations being installed world wide. With more efficient ways of harvesting energy, the electric car will see more practical use and make its way into the lives of the average
Imagine that you’re driving on an open highway in the middle of summer. All you see in front of you is asphalt for miles and miles. The windows are down and your favorite song comes on the radio. You’re behind the wheel of a Tesla Model S, the newest electric car that can go from zero to sixty miles per hour in 2.4 seconds. This will soon be the future of all motor vehicles. Electric cars are beginning to have colossal impacts on our society because of their energy efficiency, performance benefits, and the fact that they are less harmful to the environment. In the near future, electric cars will dominate the road and eventually the planet’s overall need for oil will decrease immensely.
In the recent past, Tesla has been noted as a great competitor in the automotive industry. This is attributed to its three huge competitive advantages. Generally, the advantage lies in its ability to bring about innovative disruption in the industry. This include; a strong battery supply chain that is sustainable in itself, a supercharger network celebrated by the customers and a software system several leagues ahead of its competitors (Zach, 2015).
The future American commuter will undoubtedly have to transition from the use of fossil fuels to new alternatives due to the diminishing availability of the nation’s oil resources. How will America respond to this upcoming issue? It is difficult to predict which alternative fuel source America will ultimately choose, but with the premier of Nissan’s electric powered Leaf and other companies; such as Tesla Motors and Chevy, with their electric cars ready for market, the electric car may be winning the race to become the new standard for the gasoline alternative. Electric cars resolve long standing environmental issues, but it will need to maneuver around many roadblocks to become a marketable consideration for the general public. The cost of electric cars, currently on the market, makes them an impractical purchase for the average consumer. If cost is not the growing concern in today’s economy which prevents the consumer from considering this option; they may deny the technological advance due to battery storage capabilities and the inadequate infrastructure in place to refuel and provide for them.
Environmental concerns have been raised from time to time because of the dependency on the gasoline-fueled engine as the chief auto powertrain technology. This has resulted in exposing many automobile users to unpredictable prices of fuel. These issues were, however, the reason for the inception of Tesla Motors so as to bring into existence another set of automotive which serves the similar purpose; but uses another form of energy that being electricity to drive them instead of the disadvantageous gasoline-powered engine. This invention was influenced by a number of factors in terms of their planning and performance (Hunger, 2010).
Portfolio Project: Tesla Motors Case Study Tesla Motors (Tesla), founded in 2003 by Elon Musk, is an automotive company focused on enhancing Electric Vehicle market by creating optimum performance, all electric, vehicles for every class of consumer (Tesla Motors, 2015). In order to achieve such ambitious goals, Tesla Motors not only designs, but also manufactures, and personally sells the company’s electric vehicles (Hirsch, 2015). As additional quality assurance, Tesla Motors also designs, manufactures, and sells, electric vehicle power-train components, and battery products (Hirsch, 2015). Yet, despite the pivotal role Tesla’s self curated products play in the success of Tesla’s vehicles, the socially responsible company does not privatize Apart from Musk’s concise vision statement Tesla has a truly inspiring mission statement, “At the core, Tesla Motors believes that electric cars should not be perceived as a sacrificial mode of transportation. Tesla Motors has brought the best of both the automotive and technological worlds together by permanently etching the image of electric cars being a step backwards in performance, efficiency, and design” (Tesla Motors, Chiefly, and most apparently, it is the goal of Tesla Motor to generate demand for Tesla vehicles (Andrade, Holloway, Payne, Roy & Sheffield, 2015).
...n the auto industry, the government, consumers, and environmentalists have indispensable roles to play in fulfilling this agenda. Though some opponents of this idea have cited a potential lack of a ready market, it is clear from the discussion that resources can be marshaled towards making new cars affordable. Efficient cars will promote clean and efficient transportation. Alternatives such as hybrid and electric vehicles and technologies such as aerodynamics and direct injection gas engines can be harnessed to make this venture a reality. The economy would benefit a great deal from saving a lot of money that goes into oil importation and many job opportunities would be created. The costs that have resulted from the impacts of global warming are an enormous burden to the economy. It would be a relief to the economy if more efficient cars are produced.
Tesla will help improve the environment by reducing air pollution and by reducing fossil fuel usage by using electricity instead of gasoline. This will make the world a safer and more efficient environment. This will further improve how our future
Tesla is highly recognized for its excellent lead in the enhancement of a sustainable future. In summary, there is a need for protecting the environment to become cleaner, greener and sustainable one. With the number of vehicles that operate globally on petroleum and diesel, the environment will be wasted and totally degraded in a short time. It is important to apply such new technologies for the better of the future. Tesla been a pioneer in this industry has brought about changes that can be applied to change the world. For this reason, as many companies as possible should embrace the strategy of Tesla in the development of a sustainable future.
There is no doubt that electric cars are the most appealing from of transportation in the world. They provide two of the most important key points of good transportation: reliable and efficient. They are reliable due to their simplicity of their power trains and the advancement of technology they have. They are efficient because they don't use any gasoline and because their motors can pass the zero-emission standard. Even though they may seem like a boring form of transportation, they offer good features that help keep the Earth's air clean and they help reduce pollution.
In this case study I will be discussing advantages and disadvantages of electric cars. Electric cars are cars that are powered by electricity. Electric vehicles are an important part of cutting emissions and reducing global warming. The battery of an electric car stores electrical energy. The electric motor is coupled to the wheels through gears; it converts 59-60% of electrical energy into the wheels. The battery runs the motor which allows the car to move. Electric cars are necessary as they will save money, because electricity is cheaper than gas. Also electric vehicles will help reduce global warming and pollution. However, some people say that electric cars still have environmental costs. The electricity used to recharge EV batteries has to come from somewhere in the world, and now, most electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels. Although electric vehicles are classified as green cars, purists will not appreciate the toxicity of the batteries.
