Lost at The Sea

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you were stranded at the sea? For most of us, it’ll be an absolute nightmare. Many would probably think they wouldn’t survive it. But some people who have gone through this are still alive and well. In two cases, the survivors were able to tell their stories to the world. Although they’re not entirely similar, they do share this: the terrifying thought of being lost at the sea.

When she was just 11 years old, Terry Jo Duperrault drifted alone on a small raft in the Northwest Providence Channel. Similar to this case, three cousins named Filo, Etueni Nasau, and Samu Pelesa spent days in a 12-foot boat in the Pacific Ocean with no food or water. All four originally went looking for adventure. Terry Jo went to spend a week on a yacht, headed for the Bahamas with her family. The boys, two of them 15 and one 14 from the Tokelau islands, were traveling from one island to another. Even though they were all very young when they went through this, they showed strength. The fishermen who rescued the three boys stated in CNN’s “3 Teenage Boys Rescued After 50 Days Stranded at Sea,” that the boys were “…mentally strong as strong as an ox.” …show more content…
