Termination Activity The termination activity I felt was a very good and straight forward activing, involving a peer for firing a subordinate. In assuming the role of the supervisor I felt it was good practice for empathizing and relating back to the subordinate who is being terminated. Also this helped for giving these types of conversations with your “intellectual self” to avoid an emotional conversation. The process I followed in was started with a clean statement of “unfortunately, we are going to have to terminate you…” After this I tried to make sure the subordinate didn’t get to emotional as calmer heads prevail in these types of situations. Also I made sure to control the conversation as the manager and not have the subordinate lead
In the personal essay "Unemployed", by Kenyon MacDonald, (2016), MacDonald claims that his termination that he viewed as one of the worst experiences in his life, to be a pivotal moment where he changed job careers and went back to school. He asserts that this termination gave him a new appreciation for what he has and he develops this idea by giving us background concerning his job employment. He then tells us what led to his being fired and how it made him feel. His purpose is to let young people know that in this world of change, it is important to appreciate what you have because it could change at any moment. His intended audience is other young people.
through a public way online, which seemed very unprofessional. I think the outcome of her getting fired
Dr. Efraim Zuroff is a Nazi hunter who started the organization Operation Last Chance which focuses on punishing Nazi war criminals while offering monetary rewards. Dr. Zuroff writes about his experiences as a Nazi hunter in his book Operation Last Chance: One Man’s Quest to bring Nazi Criminals to Justice which came out in 2009. (Dr. Efraim Zuroff OPERATION LAST CHANCE) The Houston Holocaust Museum invited him to come speak to the community on November 23, 2015 to discuss his experience as a Nazi hunter. Dr. Zuroff is not only a Nazi hunter but, also a historian and throughout his speech he often referred to the history of the Holocaust and how the travesty is presented in different countries. Dr.Zuroff did not use much technology throughout
Imagine taking a test that impacting one's life greatly and made a huge decision for their future. In the state of Oklahoma, High School students are required to take and pass EOIs in order to graduate. An EOI (End-Of-Instruction) is an exam that is based on the Oklahoma state standards, which define what students should be learning each school year. It helps the state determine what the teachers need to focus on and it shows the weakness of different areas of specific subjects. It also gives the state of Oklahoma a ranking compared to other states. Students must take all seven EOIs, but only need to pass four specific exams to graduate. Despite the fact that everyone is different, an EOI should not determine whether a student graduates.
...r me to express how I am doing. The best way to utilize supervision is to know how to debrief effectively. Knowing what is triggering, what is stressful, and if the coping techniques are working, are important things to discuss during supervision. Utilizing colleagues within the agency is also a great support system. Even if you are not able to discuss the case, coworkers can still understand and help debrief feelings related to a case.
I would spend my time talking to mangers and understanding their major fears and insecurities against the organization. I was aware that the CEO of the organization had the power to terminate an employee. In that case, I tried to ensure that I provided solutions to solve this matter with the CEO in order to see ways in which employees can be punished instead of being fired. Having been assigned as the toxic handler, I would alleviate organizational pain in five major steps. One of the major steps is to listen empathically, suggest solutions, work behind the scenes to prevent pain, and carry the confidence of others (Bennis,
Summarize the end-of-interval status of your goal and the process you used to support the growth of your target population.
Be honest as possible. If the employee is on the verge of being fired, let them know. This might wake them up to the reality of their actions. If you feel a certain way about someone don’t try to be the bigger/better person and stay quiet. Be honest and say “Hey, I think you can do better.” Or whatever is on your
Supervisors are ultimately both ethically and legally responsible for actions of their trainees (Corey et.al, 2011). Supervisors should specify the responsibilities and expectations of both parties in the supervisory relationship in order to avoid boundary issues (APA, 2014). The supervisees and supervisor expectation for the supervisory relationship should be discussed and agreed upon. Ethical considerations need to be address to provide behavioral guidelines to supervisors, to protect supervisees from undue harm or neglect, and to ensure quality of client care (Corey et.al, 2011). The style/quality of interactions between supervisor and the practicum student is important in establishing a collaborative working relationship that encourages self-reflection and evaluation for the supervisees. As a result, the supervisor must make time to evaluate, give feedback, and process information after supervisory
It is imperative for supervisors to focus on what is required in order for his/her employees to accomplish their job. They must be supportive of their employees and provide continual feedback on their job performance .Supervisor need to include their employees when making changes that effect they way they perform their jobs or finding new way to do things that were problematic. Supervisors should give their employees more responsibly to make them feel more valued and powerful. There is also a major need for promotion, pay increase and compensation system (educational reimbursement, vacation incentives etc.
Once an issue or problem officer is identified, the supervisor must take a proactive approach to resolve the problem. The supervisor, if appropriate, could start with alternatives to discipline. These alternatives most often come in the form of coaching or informal counseling/training. According to Laurence Miller, "The difference between coaching and counseling lies in their focus and emphasis. Coaching deals directly with identifying and correcting specific problematic behaviors." (Miller, 2006) Counseling, on the other hand, is more of a collaborative approach where the supervisor and employee resolve the issue together.
Imagine living your everyday life, when a fiction like phenomenon occurs. The Earth’s surface is fried up like a bead of sweat drying on your arm in the heat. And on top of it all, an outbreak that spreads like wild fire that eats your brain away. The young survivors in, The Kill Order, have faced the odds and survived. Mark and Trina are teenagers that have abandoned their home in New York City in search of a safe haven. When the youngsters stumble upon an older man, Alec, he helps them escape the insidious subway system filled with dangerous men. The small band of survivors builds a village outside the city that was destroyed by invaders. Most of the inhabitants were infected with the virus in the invasion. Mark, Trina, Alec, Deedee, and
I would also warn him that not everyone on staff will be happy for him, but not to take it personally. I would tell him to be empathic but not to get drawn into a conversation about their hurt feelings. I’d tell him to instead, discuss with them their individual goals as well as the goals of the department. I would advise him to include the staff in the decision making process whenever appropriate, but always maintain a professional relationship with them. I would tell him to treat everyone with respect and expect them to do the same. I would also tell him that I would be available anytime he needed my input.
Joni Mitchell once said, “You don’t know what you got till it’s gone.” Odds are, you knew what you had, but you thought you’d never lose it. In this world we often take things for granted, people and possessions. We fall short of realizing the true value of things around us. We do not realize that we need to acknowledge the things we have before they become the things we had.
Don’t forget you work. Sometimes my classmates forget their homework in class. Right after the teacher gave out. And they do their homework due day. How? In class, in the early morning before class begins.
