Going back to counseling Romeo Friar say,”Therefore love moderately: long love doth so; Too swift arrives as tardy as too slow.” In the line he is telling Romeo that he should take the marriage slow instead of rushing things so Romeo would have a good long marriage instead of ruining thing early. The family feud causes them to keep their love a secret and therefore only Romeo, Juliet, Benvolio, the Nurse and Friar Lawrence know of their love. Romeo and Juliet are able to look past the feud and let themselves fall in mad love with the other. They let themselves do almost anything for the other and at times it seems like too much to do, even for the one they love. Although fate and character traits play a key role in the play, ultimately Rome and Juliet’s personal choices lead to their downfall.Fate originates all of the conflicts in Romeo and Juliet, from when they met until they die.
Love, what a small word for being one of the most powerful and complicated emotion someone can receive. Love grants people an experience of other emotions such as, sadness, happiness, jealousy, hatred and many more. It is because of those characteristics that love creates that make it so difficult to define the emotion in a few words. In the play, “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, defy their parents in hopes of being able to be together and live a happy life. The characters in “Romeo and Juliet” show the characteristics of love through their words and actions throughout the play. In Romeo and Juliet it stays true that the noble character Benvolio knows the diversity between what to do and what not to do. Benvolio is the character to help others out of situations that can be heated, and offering guidance when needed.Although in Act 3,of the play during the fight between the Capulet and Montague it drove how Benvolio was a deceiver to his friends. Benvolio's character reflects on many people today, showing that there is good and bad in the world;and as people we need to learn how to help each other when situations go
The Friar knows that this is an impossible situation, which if made possible by himself will without a doubt end up in tragedy in one way or another. Under these conditions, as the Friar predicts, Romeo sinks into a deep depression as a result of the fact that he cannot see his wife. Similarly, Juliet becomes depressed and is grieving over the truth of her and Romeo's separation. Without the Friar the two lovers would not have been married, which would have prevented both depressions and future problems to come. The Friar is responsible for many problems as well, as well as assisting Juliet with her "death" plan.
Conflict has many different meanings for both physical and verbal abuse. Conflict could be a viscous feud or a full on physical fight. These days in television soap dramas we intend to see more verbal conflict than physical violence. But over the last couple of years new television programmes have been released which contains a lot of action-packed fighting and physical conflict of some kind. Some programmes include physical and verbal conflict including, “Eastenders”, “The Bill” and other programmes similar to these. The releasing of films such as, “Indiana Jones”, and “Rambo” catches the audience’s attention by involving action-packed, exciting features such as heavy arguments or thrilling battles. Some films are made to include action and excitement but when audiences watch it they cannot help feeling sorry for the victim or just generally sad for the people having the fight. In the same way Romeo and Juliet presents conflict more intense than most soap dramas. When the play was first performed in “The Theatre”, in Shoreditch in the mid 1590’s, the Elizabethan audience was shocked at how Juliet disobeyed her father and also how Romeo and Juliet disobeyed their families. Sympathy must be felt for the audience because they would have never known the idea of a son or daughter disobeying their father. The law at that time stated that the daughter was the property of her father until the daughter got married then her husband “owned” her as property. From this sympathy must be felt for Juliet because she is a victim of arranged marriages. When the play was first performed it got massive great responses which then lead to the play being transferred to The Globe theatre at the start of the 1600’s. Props and different costumes helped ...
In William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, Benvolio and Tybalt are portrayed as characters with distinctly opposing personalities that is apparent in many different instances throughout the play. Romeo's best friend, Benvolio is depicted as the classic nice guy, incorporating all the personalities necessary to be one. He is calm, patient, an advocate of peace between the two rival families, and always viewing the cup as half full instead of half empty. During the first quarrel between the Montagues and the Capulets in the play, Benvolio tries to bring peace by saying " I do but keep the peace. Put up thy sword, / Or manage it to part these men with me " ( , , 62-63). It is apparent that Benvolio has good intentions and that he favours peace over mutiny. In addition, his control over himself allows him to carefully analyze the situation. Shakespeare intended for him to be the typical protagonist that tries to save everyone from a crisis, where in this case the crisis is a civil battle between two noble households. Furthermore, Benvolio has the ability to empathize with people and understand their feelings. Proof of this is shown when Lady Montague questions Romeo's missing to which he responds with "So early walking did I see your son;/ Towards him I made, but he was 'ware of me/ And stole into the covert of the wood; / I, measuring his affections by my own,/ Which then most sought where most might not be found,/ Being one too many by my weary self,/ Pursued my humor not pursuing his, /And gladly shunned who gladly fled from me. ( , , 117-124). Benvolio was able to figure out that something was wrong with Romeo, and that he wanted to be alone, and so Benvolio responded with just leaving him alone. He shows all the ch...

Shakespeare cunningly gives the audience an early indication of Benvolio’s personality through his name. Benvolio translated literally means “good-will” or “well wisher” a role he consistently fills, although sometimes unsuccessfully throughout the play, striving to keep himself and others around him out of any conflict. In the very first scene of the play, Benvolio quickly establishes himself as the peacemaker as he tries to stop the fight between the Montague and Capulet servants by saying, “Part fools! Put up your swords, you know not what you do.”(I.i.64-65) Wanting peace he warns them to stop arguing before things evolve into a grave situation. In that statement, Shakespeare references the Gospel of Luke “Father forgive them for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34), using his skillful use of the written language to allude that Benvolio was taking on a Christ like peacemaker role in the play. Benvolio’s moral convictions do not change over the course of the play. His stance on peace is evident in all three scenes. In Act III, as Mercutio and Tybalt begin to fight, Benvolio once again attempts to be the voice of reason, “We talk here in the public haunt of mean: eithe...

In the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare there are many examples of: lack of commination, lack of mutual respect and absence of trust. Although, the adult figures in Juliet’s life try to guide her through life, they instead become negative role models and are the biggest contributors to her death.
Furthermore, Benvolio is calm and calculating, but persistent in achieving his goals. Benvolio recounts on how he approaches Romeo, stating “Being one too many by my weary self,/Pursu’d my humour, not pursuing his,/And gladly shunn’d who gladly fled from me.” (I.i 122-123) Benvolio is a logical man, and will approach things with caution. However, he is relentless in trying to help his friend Romeo, despite Romeo’s attitude. This proves that Benvolio wants to make everyone happy, and will do anything to help solve everyone’s problems. However, Tybalt is a passionate and stubborn man, and will strike anyone who opposes his beliefs. When Benvolio tries to dissipate the tension, Tybalt then refutes that “What, drawn and talk of
First, as an introduction to the character of Benvolio, he breaks up a sword fight between Abraham and Samson, servants of the Montague and Capulet households, respectively. He warns, “ You know not what you do” (1.1.65). To add, when he confronts an angered Tybalt, a devote Capulet who despises all Montagues, Benvolio sets the family feud aside, turns down a duel, and claims to attempt to keep the peace while asking, “ Put up thy sword, or manage it to part these men with me” (1.1.68-69). Also, when Romeo’s distressed parents notice something wrong with their son but are unable to receive and answer from him, Mr. Montague has faith in Benvolio that Romeo may tell Benvolio of his woes exclusively and to bring peace among the Montague family. Moreover, as Mercutio and Benvolio encounter Tybalt and other members of the Capulet family, in an instinctive manner, Benvolio tries to prevent a duel from occurring and gaining negative public attention, especially from that of the upset prince. Unfortunately, this is in vain as Tybalt and Mercutio agree to fight each other anyway. As they fight, Romeo tries to stop the fight, but Tybalt stabs Mercutio and he dies. To avenge his friend’s death, Romeo decides to have a sword fight with Tybalt and
First, as his cousin, Benvolio is part of the Montague line and has familial ties to Romeo, driving his urge to be the voice of reason in Romeo’s life in particular. Due to this connection, he likely feels a responsibility to look out for his cousin and keep him out of trouble. This instinct is apparent when Benvolio acts as Romeo’s right-hand man. He is constantly at his side and tends to offer Romeo advice during his times of need. His guidance is especially evident when he tries to convince his cousin to attend the party at which he later meets Juliet.

For these reasons, the rivalry between the two families lead to death and conflict.
