Ten-Minute Play Analysis & Evaluation
Analysis is examining something in pieces and parts to understand it as a whole.
Evaluation is making a judgement, or a claim, and supporting it with evidence.
After reading the plays Sure Thing and Trash Anthem, I want you to analyze each play's structure, characters, and dialogue; then write an evaluation of which one is the more effective play. Your paper should be roughly 2 pages in length.

Similar But Different Two different stories, one with unreliable character, the other with nonhuman personification of betrayal. One with a pending story the other with a compelling background and a lot of mixed emotion. Two different stories,

They introduce their characters, their setting and they even establish a well rounded conflict. However, one,“The Sure Thing”, had a very interesting conflict, one that not even the protagonists could solve. The characters, in “The Sure Thing”, where fighting against precision, perfection, and of course the right dialogue. Unknowingly, they were fighting against the action of improving something until it was completely good. The other play, “Trash Anthem”, had a very homogeneous conflict from every other play. Man vs. Conscious. This story was far from unique. The protagonist even said as she conversed with the audience, “ Wish to god this story was more original, folks, but it ain’t.” She knew what I know, this story was not different. Trash Anthem had the best introduction and the best ending, but sadly it didn’t have a good conflict, its weakest link should have been it strongest. Therefore structurally, The Sure Thing, was most …show more content…
Their interaction should not be rush, it should be develop, not slowly, but piece by piece. Each piece of dialogue should tell us something about the character and from that a story can be made. Both, Trash Anthem and The Sure Thing had a good protagonist and antagonist, maybe even too good protagonist or too good antagonist. Both those plays had good develop characters and these character each had different background and personalities. They were the protagonists of the story and they were each other’s antagonist. Yet the play that we saw this the most was The Sure thing. In the Sure Thing, BETTY and BILL, the characters were the only two mention in the story, which makes them the protagonists, and they were also each other obstacle to getting what they wanted , either to be left alone or to be friendly. Hence, The Sure Thing, was the most effective with character
It was very nice to read something that had a lot of drama and suspense. This story has a mix of everything. It has a bit of suspense, drama, and comedy; therefore, it led it to be a very nice play. The people that would most like this play, has to be people who like suspense, drama, and thriller. These people would like it, because this story has a mix of everything, so the people who like to have a mix in their stories, they will love this story. It will suit them, and will give them a pleasure of reading a nice
The basic premise of the two plots is the same. Both stories deal with the capture of a young person who is to be groomed to live in a private, controlled environment to make them happy, but where they are never able to leave.
In most stories we enjoy, may it be from childhood or something more recent there is many times a theme that shows a clear hero and a clear villain. But ordinarily this is not the case in real life, there are few times that this is quite that simple. There are many sides to each story, and sometimes people turn a blind eye to, or ignore the opposing side’s argument. But if we look at both sides of a situation in the stories we can more clearly understand what is going on, moreover the villains in the book or play would seem more real, instead of a horrible person being evil for no reason, these two people have their own agenda may it be a ruthless vengeance or misplaced trust.
Both stories are one of a kind and deserve to be read. They share both common and uncommon ideas, but in the end, both are nice.
works of literature have tremendous amounts of similarity especially in the characters. Each character is usually unique and symbolizes the quality of a person in the real world. But in both stories, each character was alike, they represented honor, loyalty, chivalry, strength and wisdom. Each character is faced with a difficult decision as well as a journey in which they have to determine how to save their own lives. Both these pieces of literatures are exquisite and extremely interesting in their own ways.
There are two stories this semester that have been particularly interesting. ‘Paul’s Case’ by Willa Cather is a turbulent story about Paul, a young man who eventually spirals downwards into his eventual suicide. ‘The Yellow Wallpaper’ by Charlotte Perkins Gilman is a story about a woman forced into the resting cure by means of her husband until being alone with her thoughts drives her to insanity. At face value, these stories have vastly different plots and outcomes. How are you able to compare stories with different plots? When the ideas behind the stories are similar, it becomes possible. These two stories have many parallels which will be discussed in detail throughout this essay.
reach into the ideas and themes of the play so we will have a good
Often, when a story is told, it follows the events of the protagonist. It is told in a way that justifies the reasons and emotions behind the protagonist actions and reactions. While listening to the story being cited, one tends to forget about the other side of the story, about the antagonist motivations, about all the reasons that justify the antagonist actions.
Both narratives compare as timeless tales of reputable heroes. They both include similar plots of long journeys back home. The main characters’ flaws are arrogance which is the source of many of their troubles.

There are many meanings inside stories; “Gregory” by Panos Ioannides is a heart-wrenching short story that follows the protagonist through the execution of his friend. E.M. Forster explains a want to keep friendships strong even at the expense of one’s relation to one’s country. The main character in “Gregory”' has multiple thoughts showing a tie to what Foster explained, as well as the internal fight that happens when one has two forces pulling at one. The Narrator wants to follow his gut and skirt tragedy, but in the end he wants to save himself from his superiors.
The differences of these two plays, gives one a sense that any general idea can be broken into a distinct one and not sway away from its intended idea. This means, a comedy can be made into a tragedy, romance, and other themes, and yet still maintain the purpose of providing laughter to the audience. This shows the development of literature over the years, as many more subcategories result because of the contrasts.
In the beginning of both of the pieces of literature, the main character(s) have not had the experience that will shape their values yet. Rather, as time moves forward in the stories, the
Whilst both authors put forth an opinionated view of moral issues, the opinions presented leaned more traditionally. Immorality in every instance was analyzed through an inherently negative lens. This biased exploration of moral issues leaves the reader with a conflicting mindset. One might like the characters and disagree with how they acted, or the bias put forth changes how the reader views the characters as a whole. Looking through the inner conflicts and external conflicts present in both works one can see the similar methods authors take to examine moral issues as well as the difficulty of removing a personal investment an author might
