Have you heard about kids or teens changing the world? Changing the world is a hard process, but teen activists make it look easy, speak for what they think is right. Becoming a teen activist takes a lot of motivation, so to get to where some teen activists are right now takes bravery and courage. All teen activist fight for different things and along the way they have some tough obstacles that they have to overcome. Teen activist push themselves, that’s what makes them so inspiring. All teen activists fight for different things. For example, a 16 year old girl named Malala Yousafzai is fighting for girls education. Malala lives in Swat Valley which is located in the country Pakistan. According to the interview with Jon Stewart she fights for this because at her home the Taliban have made a rule that no girls were allowed to go to school. The Taliban is a Islamic terrorist group that thought educating girls is “un-islamic.” In addition, Iqbal Masih, a boy that fights for child labor because he went through it for years. At the age of 4 Iqbal was sold by his parents for 12$. …show more content…
As stated before Iqbal was sold at the age of 4 for 12$ from his parents. This wasn’t easy of Iqbal, but he soon escaped and started speaking. Malala is another great example of this. As mentioned before she was shot by the Taliban on her way home because she was speaking, but she didn't give up or let the Taliban make her stop,in fact it made her want to work harder. Malala had bad experiences with the Taliban, even her dad at one point wanted her to stop, but Malala refused because she had no fear. Alex Libby had some bad obstacles as well, he got called names and hit. At one point he had said “I craved friends. I didn’t have any friends. That was all I wanted, some friendship.” Alex Libby’s obstacles and all the other teen activist were bad, but they all overcame them in some way, even when it’s not
All over the world, there are terrible things that have happened, but some people actually see them and have the courage to make the right change. Some of these people have even changed the way the world looks at things. Some great leaders and examples were Harriet Tubman, Melba Patillo Beals, and Malala Yousafzai. All of these characters had big motivations in their lives and felt the need to enact change. Harriet Tubman had lived through slavery herself and wanted to give other slaves the freedom they deserved. Melba was simply a highschool student who chose the long path of integrating an all white high school. Finally, Malala was a young girl who was determined to give women and girls the same chance at education
Iqbal Masih started his child labour journey at a very young age. At just four years old he was forced out of his home, away from his family, to work for a wealthy carpet maker, to whom his family owed a total of six hundred rupees, sixteen Canadian dollars. Iqbal and a large amount of children were forced to work more than twelve hours a day, six days a week. The over worked children were treated like rubbish. They were beaten regularly, verbally abused, and worst of all chained to their looms by the carpet factory owner. If that wasn’t enough the poor clueless children were cheated into working insane hours and were paid twenty cents a day, and that’s only if they make a certain amount of product. If that wasn’t awful enough, the children had to pay for their own food. Leaving the children to starve and pay off their debt sooner, or slave for more money so they can eat a meal of rice. After eight years of being over worked and beaten Iqbal ran away from his master, to the police, after learning child labour was illegal, Iqbal went back to his owner’s factory with police reinforcements. Iqbal was astounded when he saw his master bribing the police. Iqbal expressed to Francesco D'Adamo how he felt his stomach tighten and how fear took over his body because he knew he would be in trouble with his master. Iqbal was punished severally for his escape attempt but this only motivated him more. He escaped once more and this time he knew he had to make it count. Iqbal ran off to the BBLF, the Bonded Labour Liberation Fund, here they offered Iqbal a safe place to stay. Although Iqbal Masih passed away at a young age, he nevertheless left his mark on the world by travelling around the world to raise awareness for child labour, insp...
Trying to make the world a better place, you would think would be coming from adults but most of it is coming from teens. These teens are called teen activists. I think that the good things they are doing, are for someone else, not themselves. The first reason is, Hannah Taylor, she created the Ladybug Foundation for people who don't have a home. She wasn’t doing that to draw attention to herself. She was doing it because she thought homelessness was completely wrong. The second reason is Angela Zhang “found a potential cure for cancer.” (CBS News) She wasn’t doing it to show off. Alex Scott had a lemonade stand and the money she raised, she gave to her hospital and didn’t keep it for herself. The thing they all have in common is that they are just good people. Those are the good things about all the teen activist I researched.
When he was four years old when he was called in from play to be sold from his parents for extra cash for his older brother’s wedding. His family had to sell him to a rug maker to work off a loan of about twelve dollars in U.S. cash. Iqbal had to work a year entirely without pay, then after, he was “paid” twenty cents per day, that means if he made a mistake, he was fined so he didn’t really make any money. Then, by the time he was ten, his loan grew to about two-hundred sixty bucks. During work which is six days a week, fourteen hours a day, They had poor conditions like poor light, no ventilations, heat, unfiltered air, and many more. Even Iqbal himself explains his work explained in the article, Pats Eduent, “Even sick children were not allowed to rest. They also hung children upside down until they got sicker. Children were beaten. If children fell asleep or were slow in their work, they would be punished by being beaten or starved.” Then in 1992 the Bonded Labor LIberation Front let him free at age ten. When he was out, he was sick and frail, half the height of a ten year old, and stopped growing. Iqbal also had arthritis with kidney and breathing problems, plus his spine was permanently curved, with scars and cuts from the tools. He then became an activist against child labor and risked pretending to be a factory worker so he could get information about the children working there, or to even help escape. Iqbal also helped free about three thousand child laborers from all sorts of factories, and became a good speaker and explained his experiences in BLLF meetings and journalists. He also visited the U.S. from Sweden to Massachusetts. But when he arrived back in Pakistan, his life, was cut short. Some people say the carpet factory worker murdered him, but nobody really. Iqbal was an inspiration to many people, plus some people planned to build a school in his home area to
But even today, Malala still speaks out against the Talibans and stresses her and every female’s rights and opportunities. Works Cited Bubar, Joe. Young people of every language and culture a high and exhilarating task awaits for them; that of becoming men and women capable of solidarity, peace and love of life, with respect for everyone. Teens need to become craftsmen of a new humanity, where brothers and sisters, members all of the same family, are able to live in peace. This is a possible goal if teens are willing and wanting to make a change.
Teen activists fight for something they believe in And every teen activist does it in a different way. For example Malala Yousafzai fights for women’s education rights by speaking out for her cause. She began her mission after her education was taken from her. There are other ways to fight for what you believe in. Alex Lin an environmental activist began to take charge when he realized that e-waste is destroying the environment is one of these people who fight in a different way. According to Takepart, Alex takes action to help his cause and does manual labor like collecting E-waste or refurbishing old computers. Although taking action is a great way to solve a problem most teen activists seem to use
The last person how overcomes challenges and obstacles by phisical and mental violence is Iqbal Masih because he was sent to work a slaver at the age of 4 years old because he mom and dad had to pay of a $12 dollar payment. As he was working he relised that he whant to have other kid how work as a slave to be abel to learning opertanieti. So then he whent to Massachusetts to talk to a group of 6th graders about child labor,Five mounth later he was muredred an unknow person or gourp .Later the group of 6th grades made a website to rasie money to build a school just like Iqbal whantined they rasied anougth money to bilud a school so they did they buildet the school in Pakistan for former child labor kids.I found this informatinon “On the website Child Labor Around The World and Child
Teen Activists are brave. They show courage helping others and fighting for what they believe in, sometimes risking there for others. Being a teen activist, you can expect to fight through many obstacles as you advocate for your cause. Malala Yousafzai and Faye Carey, are both teen activists whose lives inspire and give hope to others who have a passion and wish to make the world a better place.
Malala is the most inspirational teen activist ever. First of all, according to wikipedia she is from SWAT village a tropical place in Pakistan. First major event in her life was when the Taliban was blasting schools. So she decided she didn’t know she loved school until it was taken away so she started doing speeches to get school back. She loves school and wants all kids to go to school. According to abc news her biggest
A big question asked amongst people sometimes is “Can a teenager make a difference, and if they do is it positive?” a lot of people just brush it off sometimes and think that because they’re young and don’t have the same experience as some older people, they are bound to make mistakes. This is not always the case, as some teens can make a difference, whether it be in large scale that affects the world or in a smaller scale affecting the community or society. There are a couple kids that have make a difference, although some of the things they have done might be greater compared to others, they still have made a difference in where they live and the people in their communities.
Teen activists are determined to change something that is happening or going on in the world that is not right to them. Teen activism is where someone wants to change something to make a difference in the world or the community they live in. To become a teen activist you need to have a plan or a goal on what you want to change and how you're going to do it. Some examples of teen activists are Faye Carey and how she is determined to stop animal abandonment, Alex Libby and how he wants to stop bullying, and last but not least Malala Youtifanzi and how she helps girls right to an education.
Topic: Recently much has been made about the effects of mobile media on youth activism. Critically evaluate how mobile technology has been used as a platform to mobilize society in both physical and virtual spaces. In this period of the advancement of technology, mobile technology has allowed a person to overcome the obstacles of time and s pace, which increases social interactions among people. People use mobile technology more progressively with the intention to alter the way they interact with others in public spaces and this engagement level is higher among youth.
This leads them to feeling and acting ardently about improving the world for victims of a particular global issue. “Then, when he was twelve years old, he was murdered. I had never heard of child labor and wasn’t certain where Pakistan was - but that day changed by life forever. I gathered a group of friends to form an organization called Free the Children” (Kielburger, 13-18). This proves that people are influenced by the stories of victims of intensely impacting world problems, and because of this, they establish the decision to do everything in their ability to change the world for the better.
Malala Yousafzai, a women's right activist and one of the bravest women in the world. Malala is a hero that stood up for what she believed, that all women should have equal education. She sacrificed her life when she was shot in the head by a Taliban just to get her point across. ¨I am only talking about education, women's rights and peace. I want poverty to end in tomorrow´s Pakistan. I want every girl in Pakistan to go to school,¨ said Malala Yousafzai. She's an amazement because she wanted to modify the world by making women have equal education and rights. Malala also wanted to end penury in Pakistan for a better life with good economy. On October 9th, 2012, Malala was shot in her school bus for speaking out that women should be equal in education as men. Even though she almost risked her life,
