Taking Responsibility For Mistakes

When people make mistakes, they can either take responsibility for that mistake or they can lie about it. When people choose to take responsibility for their mistakes, it reveals good character. The only way to really learn from your mistakes is to take full responsibility for them. For people to become better, they have to make mistakes; it is inevitable. It is not good if they don't make mistakes, because then they aren't learning anything. This is the story of how I made a mistake and learned from admitting my wrongs.

When I was a senior in high school, I got a new job at a dentist's office. I worked there as part of a work release program for my school. On my first day, I had to watch videos that informed me about the workplace. My job consisted of cleaning the dentist's and hygienist's tools, running them through a sterilizer, and putting them away in the rooms. I also had to keep track of laundry and occasionally clean rooms after a patient had been in them. In the sterilization room that I worked in, one side was called the "dirty side" and the opposite side was called the "clean side". However, this was the day I made the mistake that I would admit to and eventually learn great things from. I took a bag from the dirty side of the sterilization room and put the already sterilized tool inside it. This made the tool contaminated. I then proceeded to place it in the cabinet full of other tools that were sterile. Because of my actions, the entire cupboard of tools was contaminated. The dental clinic could get in lots of trouble if they were to use that tool on a patient. Later after I had made that mistake, one of the other workers discovered it. Being the newest employee, she came and asked me if I had made the mistake. I agreed and admitted I did it. She informed me about the contamination and how it shouldn't happen
