A system consists of a logically organized set of interrelated and interdependent methods designed to reach a common goal. The systems framework helps us identify the main components of the health system. It also helps us to understand the infrastructure of health care services in a country. The main elements that make up the systems framework are system input (resources-human, institutional), system structure, system processes, and system outputs (outcomes). A systems theory will encourage forming long-term solutions. There are five principles in systems thinking. These include purposefulness, composition, connectedness, perspective and finally, emergence. There are 2 principles that determine the characteristics of marketing. The first of which is fulfilling the needs and wants of target markets. The second of the two characteristics involves the creation of a space where the seller provides and makes available goods and services to buyers. The buyers should be able to locate and choose these products and services. There are 5 key elements that must be considered when discussing marketing. Firstly, there must be a need or service to be fulfilled in order for a marketing transaction to occur. The goods and services that are needed must then be valued and priced. These are the first two elements that make up the marketing process. Channels for communication, and a method to assist in the transaction process round out the remaining components that make up the process. Quality management and marketing is based on establishing long-term relationships, which are grounded in trust, mutual respect, and enduring values. Another concept that should be understood when discussing marketing in health systems is health promotion. Health promotion plays an essential role in marketing in health systems. It can be used to educate individuals through the media and other means of communication to prevent disease, illness, injury and advocacy for health and wellness.
