Introduction Zinc is a chemical product with symbol Zn and atomic number 30. It is used with copper to form brass, and it is hard and brittle in it's natural state, less dense than iron and used to make many alloys. Characteristics It is a bluish-silver, lustrous metal that tarnishes in moist air, producing a layer of carbonate. Zinc reacts with both acids and alkalis. Zinc is a fair conductor of electricity and burns in air with a bright bluish-green flame producing white clouds of the oxide. Without loss of its physical or chemical properties, it can be recycled indefinitely. Supply and Demand In 2008, the global zinc supply rate had increased by around 2.7 percent over the previous year. China remains the world's largest zinc producer,
and it is also the world's largest consumer and largest refiner of this metal. In 2010, the rise in world zinc mine production was primarily influenced by higher output in Australia, China, India, Mexico and the Russia.

According to Smithson, Walmart can expand its markets to new and emerging markets especially in the third world countries, which can significantly increase its revenues. Secondly, the company can reform is employment practices and improve the quality standard and in doing so, attract more customers and improve its brand image. On the other hand, the company faces threats such as the rising healthy lifestyle trend I that the company in most cases does not provide customers with healthy goods. At the same time, the company can capitalize on this aspect and increase its revenues. Aggressive competition from other discount retailers such as Target creates a great threat to the company (Smithson, 2015).

This element when becoming an isotope can become radioactive due to its high activity as a metal. In its natural state it is a soft metal and it has a shiny “ wax “ like silver/white color to it, it is so soft that a knife could cut through it without a problem.
This Experiment is a way of successfully viewing the emission spectra for metal carbonates. By heating the carbonates electrons go from there normal state called ground state to a higher energy state called excited state and the difference in electron energy gap of each metal carbonate makes up the difference of colours. This excited state is not a stable state but while in this state the atom gains additional energy but the variation of energy emitted is a characteristic of that in particular element. In this state the electrons emit photons which is the energy that corresponds to light wavelengths and therefore produces the different light emissions.
Pounding metal and fabricating metal in thin sheets and sections that humans need or want has a long history. The discovery of how to make and control fire made extracting metals form or more efficient instead of having to find almost pure nuggets of metal. In many civilizations copper was the metal they used but that was succeeded by bronze eventually it is made of copper and tin.
By adding up to 2%,of carbon it makes the steel tough and strong. Although it’s tough and strong, it is able to bend. To make sure that the metal doesn’t rust, it has a zinc coating on it. Iron is 26 on the periodic table, and considered an “transition metal,” meaning that it is ductile and malleable, and conduct electricity and heat. ... “Some other elements that are similar to iron are cobalt and nickel. They are the only elements known to produce a magnetic field.” Zinc is 30 on the periodic table and it is also a transition metal like iron. “The first iron used by humans is likely to have come from meteorites.” A meteorite is a meteor that survives its passage through the earth's atmosphere such that part of it strikes the ground. More than 90 percent of meteorites are of rock, while the remainder consist wholly or partly of iron and nickel. Meteors are believed to have been from the asteroid belt of Mars and
test whatever it's a bad effect or not. So when it used on humans, we
Aluminum is one of a number of soft metals that scientists call "poor" metals. It can be shaped and twisted into any form. It can be rolled into thick plates for armored tanks or into thin foil for chewing gum wrappers. It may be drawn into a wire or made into cans. Aluminum is a generally popular metal because it does not rust and it resists wear from weather and chemicals. (Bowman, 391) Aluminum is an element. Its atomic number is thirteen and its atomic weight is usually twenty-seven. Pure aluminum melts at 660.2ºC and boils at 2500ºC. Its density is 2.7 grams per cube centimeter. Aluminum is never found uncombined in nature. (Bowman, 391) Aluminum is a very useful metal that is light, easy to shape and can be strong. This makes aluminum one of the most used metals in the world, right behind iron and steel. (Geary, 185) In its pure state, aluminum is quite weak compared to the other metals. However, its strength can be greatly increased by adding small amounts of alloying elements, heat-treating, or cold working. Only a small percentage of aluminum is used in its pure form. It is made into such items as electrical conductors, jewelry, and decorative trim for alliances and cars. A combination of the three techniques has produced aluminum alloys that, pound for pound, are stronger than structural steel. Some common metals used in alloys for aluminum are copper, magnesium and zinc.(Walker, 31) The added elements give the aluminum strength and other properties. (Newmark, 41) Aluminum is one of the lightest metals. It weighs about 168.5 pounds per cubic foot, about a third as much as steel which weighs 487 pounds per cubic foot. (Neely, 214) As a result, aluminum has replaced steel for many uses. For example, some ...
The SWOT analysis is a useful tool for identifying our personal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to our plans and goals. According to a “Fuel My Motivation” article (2010), this analysis considers internal influences that can positively or negatively affect our ability to achieve our goals. The internal factors are our strengths and weaknesses. Also considered are opportunities and threats, which are external influences that can have a positive or negative impact on the ability to achieve our goals. I will share how the self-assessment instruments and self-exercises in this course have contributed to assessing and understanding my strengths and weaknesses. I will also discuss techniques I will use to leverage my strengths and understand my weaknesses. In addition, I will consider opportunities that I can take advantage of and the threats that can possibly impede my progress.
Platinum is an extremely rare, precious metal whose value exceeds that of gold. It is the most widely used of the six platinum group metals that includes palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium, and osmium. It is very heavy, lustrous, silver-white in color, and does not tarnish or corrode. Pure platinum is soft and therefore must be alloyed to increase durability. In the jewelry industry, platinum is alloyed with its platinum group companion, iridium in a nine to one ratio. With its excellent properties of strength, tarnish resistance, and workability, platinum lends itself to the fabrication of intricately designed jewelry items and gem settings. Platinum may also be used in the electrical industry for contacts and resistors, in the glass industry to make dies for fiber glass, and in the automobile industry for use in catalytic converters.
Zinc is an essential trace element for many living organisms. While this can be said about other essential metals, zinc is unique in its physiochemical properties that give it the ability to interact with donor groups of different ligands, resulting in a broad range of stability constants and diversity of the biological functions and processes that zinc is involved in. It was discovered and recognized as a new metal in the eightieth century, While its biological essentiality was found by Raulin for the growth of Aspergillus niger In 1869 [1]. In 1933 Zinc was found essential for the growth of animals while studying its effect on rats. [2]
