Introduction of the Company
Yum! is an American fast food company and one of the world’s largest fast food restaurant companies with presence in over 125 countries, operating the licensed brands which are famous worldwide e.g. KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, A&W Restaurants, Long John Silver’s and the Wing Street.
The company was founded in year 1997 as Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc., later in the year 2002, the company acquisition with Lexington, Kentucky based Yorkshire Global Restaurants post that it reframed as YUM! Brands LLC.

STRATEGY
The Strategy plays an important and vital role in the 7-S’s Model as the strategy is the detailed plan devised to maintain and build the competitive advantage over the competition for achieving and accomplishing the targeted common goals.
Yum! Believes in the strategy to make a positive difference in the lives of the people with a clear focus and commitment for better by understanding the “know how” of the people.
The company’s strongest impact and contribution to sustainability lies in the critical parts of their business which leads to the success and diversity of our associates (customers), food safety, health and nutrition, strong supply chain, environmental factors, and community/stakeholder engagement and impact of the people along with the CSR initiatives.
The Yum! Brand strategy centers on four key important pillars:

1.1 Brief History Chipotle Mexican Grill was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1993. In 1998, McDonald’s became the majority shareholder; however, in 2006, McDonald’s divested its controlling interest. Chipotle became a public company listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2006. It currently has 1,083 locations across the United States and Canada. Internal resource is the first consideration that can lead to sustainable competitive advantage and Resource –Based View (RBV) is a theory that usefully helps a firm focus on internal resources (Kraaijenbrink, Spender & Aard, 2010). According to RBV (Valuable, Rare, hard to imitate and non-substitutable), companies have different tangible and intangible resources, these resources can be transformed into unique ability, this special ability cannot flow between firms and rival firms and difficult to reproduce. These unique resources and abilities are the source of enterprise sustainable competitive advantage. In this part, Starbucks and Apple are worth to be analyzed by RBV.

Innovation is an important aspect of business today. It is important for companies to be innovative in order to stay competitive with their competitors. Innovation can come in different forms depends on the company’s objective. KFC, one of the most popular fast-food restaurants by the Yum! Brands, chooses to be innovative for their business model. Although, there is a huge amount of fast food chain available in the global market, KFC found the key to stand out from the intense competitive environment. By expanding the business to China, KFC learned unprecedented success by being different, not by being the same. The company’s business model is all about adapting to the local culture and understanding the needs of the Chinese market. Three main innovative strategies of KFC in China are localizing the menu, understanding the Chinese culture, and hiring local management.
