At Eastampton Community School, our assistant principal is also the director of curriculum. Working along the superintendent/principal, she is taking on his philosophy of seeking teachers input on new curriculum implementations. Each year, I meet with the curriculum director to discuss my goals for the upcoming year, how I am going to obtain them, discuss curriculum changes and ordering. By having the teachers put their import, they are more inclined to put forth more effort when implementing change since they have more ownership in the …show more content…

As now it can be concluded that to make a supervision session effective it is essential to have a deep understanding of these facts and theories. Characteristics of both supervisor and supervisee are equally important. As supervisors must know their roles and responsibilities at the same time, supervisee should have interest towards reflective practice. Supervision is an opportunity where supervisees are able to review and reflect on their work in order to do it better. Supervisors bring their actual work practice to another person (individual supervision) and can help review what happened in their own practice in order to learn from that experience. Supervision is for better quality service. In a relationship of trust and transparency, supervisees talk about their work and through reflection and thoughtfulness learn from it and return to do it differently. Supervision is based on the assumption that

The role of a principal is a vital function of the school. The manner in which a principal performs determines that success of the school. The school principal reports directly to the pastor. The principal acts as the administrator of the school and sees to the day-to-day operations of the school. Personal Philosophy of Supervision Beliefs and Philosophy School administrators are important in setting the path for a successful school (Glickman, et al., 2014). The principals could play a dynamic leadership depending on how they exercise their beliefs of the organizational and social environment (McNair, 2011). The principals are the primary facilitators for developing the foundations in learning that will last, to manage the student’s performance at schools, and seeking the improvement at school that will cause great impacts in school‘s education (Gordon,1989). In the recent years in the U.S., education has change in a more cultural diversity population, it is imperative that school supervisors, are trained to encounter this cultural issues, but also assisting others with the opportunities to develop appropriate abilities to deal with different cultures (Glickman, et al., 2014). Even though this increasing awareness of the multicultural issues, many supervisors are not being trained how to deal with this issues in the daily practice.

When it comes to implementing a curriculum everyone has an opinion. Whether it is the organization of the curriculum or the evaluation of the curriculum, everyone from administers, teachers, and parents will have their opinions on the new curriculum. The curriculum development group has many difficult decisions to make. They have to decide when and how to implement, who will be in charge, what data will be collected, and how will the curriculum be evaluated.
While, I aspire to be a great supervisor most importantly above all else I will strive to be a better resource of support for staff. The supervisor possesses the qualifications and understanding of effective practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, but the most essential and valuable role is for the instructional supervisor to provide direct assistance to teachers in order to ensure student learning for a successful school. In all of the schools I have had the opportunity to work in the successful ones had principals that provided direct assistance to their staff through mentor teachers, master teachers, team leaders, and coaching specialist. Those are the principals that I most remember and hope to become in my quest as a future
