Although most of the schools in this neighborhood have their own school yard where students can play during recess there are also parks around the neighborhood where students can take walks, explore and discover at. In this neighborhood, there is a big park called Sunset Park. This park consists of two avenues and three streets, in other words it is a really big park. I grew up in this neighborhood so I use to always come here to play. There is a swimming pool, basketball courts with six nets, handball courts, soccer field with net, a big play area for children, swing area, bike paths and an extremely wide area full of grass where I see children run freely. This park offers a variety of opportunities for students to be physically active because there is a wide range of space. Sunset park is the biggest park in this neighborhood.
I also see a lot of parents and elders in the park who are watching over the children and also playing with them. I also see a lot of young adults in this neighborhood where they take a walk around the park. The streets are extremely crowded on the weekend in this neighborhood because a lot of families are outside shopping, eating, or going to the park. When people become physically inactive, this will result in impeding of health. According to Physical activity improves quality of life it stated, In addition to the health benefits listed above, moderate exercise, like brisk walking, can have other health benefits such as: Improves blood circulation, which reduces the risk of heart disease. Keeps weight under control.” Therefore, if adults and children wants to improve their health they must do exercises such as taking a walk around the community or even going to the park. Physical activity will improve health also, physically activity such as play is a child's work, they should always be doing
As a child, I attended a school located in Corona by the name of Washington Elementary. The school did have a playground, but only children under the third grade were allowed to play on the small structure. The older kids, such as my best friend Alondra and I, had access to a basketball court, a few handball courts, and a grass field. I was not a fan of competitive sports so Alondra and I were often found hanging out in the large grassy field or in a teacher’s classroom.
Pate et al. (1995) stated that physical activity is needed for health promotion and disease prevention. They also stated that every adult should do at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise everyday if possible. Moderate intensity exercising includes activities such as brisk walking and cycling as stated by the Department of Health (2011). They also state that regular physical activity will improve a person’s mental health as it will increase self esteem and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. Physical wellbeing is also enhanced by an increase in physical activity. The World Health Organisation (WHO) (2002) found that in developed countries 20% of heart disease and 10% of strokes are due to physical inactivity. Furthermore a lack of physical activity is found to cause 3% of all diseases.

Within the neighborhood of Los Feliz lives the famous land mark Griffith park. The creamy white building with three prominent black domes, attracts many men, women, and children, which includes locals and tourists. Since it is free admission, people of all social classes are welcome to take advantage and utilize it. Its location can allow it to be well suited for multiple purposes in which different types of people can utilize it for today. The Griffith park provides the Los Angeles area with the opportunity to see beyond what meets the eye while having fun and spending quality time with friends and family.
The Recreational Precinct, within the area there are many parks, facilities and recreational centres, which are all
Willow Glen is a beautiful community located in San Jose, California. It is a favored neighborhood to many because of the local independent businesses, specialty shops, the amazingly diverse architecture, a wide variety of restaurants, and the outstanding downtown area that many are fond of visiting. While many find Willow Glen a wonderful place to visit, it's also a spectacular place to live because of the defining Willow Glen real estate market and a true feeling of community.
Gorsebrook park is a park off of Robie street that offers lots of activities and benefits to the community. It was built in the 1800s and renamed after Gorsebrook in 1824. (Landry,2005) The park comes with tennis courts, basketball court, ice hockey rink and tobogganing hills. It is a great place for walks and to play recreational supports for free, to anyone that visits the park. It is a large land mass and is covered mostly by grass along with a tree line across the sides. I chose the property because of the tennis courts and because I also did a previous assignment on the lot, where I had to volunteer to clean the park so I have sufficient knowledge of the park. Other than that, the park had all of the requirements for the assignment, so it was a good fit. Gorsebrook park has
Parts of Stoner Park are designed as a skate park, which could prevent older adults from visiting due to distaste for the younger generations’ skating interests or danger of accidents with the skaters. However, the Japanese Garden is a tranquil place with beautiful Japanese foliage, which could provide an enjoyable environment for those looking to unwind and get away from the urban atmosphere that is eminent throughout Los Angeles. Stoner Park is, however, the only park in Sawtelle (“Parks Sawtelle, Los Angeles, CA,” n.d.). If residents such as older adults do not live near it, its accessibility is less convenient, and because it is the sole park, it may see a lot of traffic which could also ward off seniors. More parks, regardless of size, should be introduced throughout the neighborhood to offer relaxing, open-space environments for the residents to use as a safe place for exercise, activity, and mental
Sometimes sitting at home gets boring, and sometimes your front and backyard are also boring and little kids have a ton of fun at parks. In Council Bluffs I have not come across a park. Which would help because it can be two things dog park and children park.
Different intension drives people to take part in physical exercise. According to a research (Lowery et al., 2005), it shown that most of women are not confident to their body image due to the definition of the idealized standard beauty on media or in public eyes; It also stated most of men are not satisfied to their muscle tone because of the pressure from culture. So this is one reason why people would like to do physical activity. Regarding to the intension of young people, the website of CDC.gov (1997) illustrated that to have fun and develop some skills is the significant intension for them. However, for the old people, exercise is the good way to kill time and communicate with neighbor, in other
American children many of whom is -> are overweight, are often forced by their parents to exercise. This may seem like a good idea, but it can cause some trouble later on. For example, children, who do not enjoy team sports, should not be pushed to do them because their aversion may later translate to a total refusal to exercise. A number of non-competitive sports is better suited for such children. Dancing, hiking, jogging and kayaking burns calories just as well, and may prove to be more relaxing to a non-competitive child. If either a friend or some family members also participates in the sport, most of the children likes that kind of activity. A lot of children loves being outdoors, if the family are there as well. Everyone think that

Physical education in schools improves children’s physical health. Getting the recommended amount of exercise can combat obesity. “Regular physical activity can help children and adolescents improve cardiorespiratory fitness, build strong bones and muscles, control weight, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and reduce the risk of developing health conditions” (CDC.gov). PHIT America states,
A Surgeon General's report (Anonymous,1996) addresses the finding that continuous and consistent physical activity is proven to enhance longevity and the quality of life for people of all ages. Furthermore, the report notes that although it has been recognized for years that regular physical activity can lead to substantial health benefits, 60% of American adults are not regularly active, and 25% of the adult population are not active at all. Paffenbarger (1996) states that physical fitness and exercise can reduce the risk of diseases such as heart disease, non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, some cancers, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, and obesity. Studies also show that exercise can promote psychological well-being and reduce feelings of anxiety and depression (http://www.medgraph.com/aboutexercise.html).
Exercising outdoors will increase one’s adherence to physical activity. People’s fascination and attention increases when outdoors, which will raise their motivation to exercise. Statistics prove that people today in North America are going outside and exercising less, so the extra motivation is needed. Promoting exercise is one of the best ways to combat obesity, and outdoor exercise should be a priority. One can also find mental health benefits from exercising outdoors; such as higher feelings of restorativeness, which reduces stress. If runners choose to run outdoors, they will have greater geographical awareness. Exercising outdoors has greater benefits than being trapped indoors to
