Do you believe that a law should be made to make a restaurant place food nutritional information on all menus? In my stance of opinion a restaurant should not be made to post nutritional information. Food should be enjoyed the way it is, and not everyone would read the post, therefore, it would take up that space for no reason. People should be allowed to run their restaurants the way they want them, and no different. If you ordered a healthy meal the price would be higher than a regular meal. Many people believe that the restaurant foods are healthy, but they still make the food with oil and seasonings. On the passage, "We Don't Need Labels" the story says, "The words "Lite", "Low fat", and "Heart Smart" do attract buyers. Restaurants are free to group selections according to reasonable health standards. This would probably mean more to the average consumer than trying to sort through the difference between 1350 and 1375 calories." Restaurants have a greater possibility of getting more money if they have "special" nutritional labels. Many people dislike the food label, yet some people are for them. They should get to do whatever they want to do, have what they want on the menus. Fast foods would not be the same with the state controlling what is in their menus nor how they operate the menus. The owners should do what they want to, and the state should not be involved with everything that happens in the restaurant because they have the right to do it on their own! The owners of the restaurants open restaurants to be able to gain responsibility and to operate them how they want to, so if they do not want a nutritional menu they should not be made to have them. While shopping at a local Trader Joe’s, Freedman spots a bag of peas, which have been breaded, deep-fried and then sprinkled with salt. Upon seeing this snack, he is in shock to know that this same store, which is known for their wholesome food, would sell such a thing. With a tone of exasperation, he admits that, “I can’t recall ever seeing anything at any fast-food restaurant that represents as big an obesogenic crime against the vegetable kingdom.” It was such an unexpected situation for him to come across this small snack that represented the opposite of what the wholesome-food movement is for. To settle his own confusion, he clarifies that, “…many of the foods served up and even glorified by the wholesome-food movement are themselves chock full of fat and problem carbs.” This further proves that just because a certain food is promoted by a health fad, it does not validate that it is genuinely better than fast-food itself. The book also informed me of the deceitfulness of people in order to make a profit. A prime example in Chapter eleven is the Kraft Company. The Kraft Company state they want to decrease the amounts of salt, sugar and fat in their products. On the other hand, Kraft creates new products with an increased amount of these ingredients. The article states that now obesity has affected many kids in America. Due to obesity affecting many kids in America the argument here is that, parents are not thinking about their child’s health and how it affects their body. Zinczenko’s main idea is that fast food companies should have warning labels on all the food they supply. By labeling or judging others, a person gains a better sense of that individual without actually getting to know them. The behavior has become so common in society today to the point that it happens naturally without one realizing it.
