Patricia Hill Collins in Black Feminist Thought uses the methodology of combing several other works of literature, personal experience, music, fiction, and poetry to expound the theory of black feminism on breaking down myths to reveal the experience of African American women. Not approaching the traditional look on feminism but looking on the internal approach of gender and races roles. Portraying that literature, media, and language crafts a specific story to reveal a universal truth, with a collective feel but remaining true to the individual experience as a perception of reality. Being a Black women living in white supremacist patriarchal society, she uses critical race theory, feminist theory, post- modern theory, Afrocentricity, and a combination of other theories to form her theoretical framework. The claim that the internal, psychological, emotional, and personal experiences of black women are inherently political and societal because of the fight with derogatory assumptions about their character and identity. Black feminist thought consists of ideas produced by Black women that clarify a standpoint of and for Black women. Black female-centered analysis is significant for not only Black women but for men, minorities, and white counterparts alike.
