The conflict in “Being Prey” and “A sound of Thunder” is different and similar in multiple ways. There are many differences and similarities that you can find in these stories. When you go hunting or exploring, you should know who you are going with, have experience, and know where you are. Here are some differences and similarities in these short stories. One of the differences between “Being Prey” and “A sound of Thunder” is in “Being Prey” she knew what the risks were and didn’t care. In “A sound of Thunder”, Eckels had no idea what he was doing at all. It was Val’s choice to go do what she did a second time and she also knew about the paths but she didn’t listen. Eckels had a choice but he didn’t know what he was doing and he knew not to go off the path but he did because he was being chased by a dinosaur. When you go back in time to hunt something you need to be experienced and know what you need to be experienced and know what you are doing. Val had the experience as where Eckels did not have anywhere near the experience as Val did. Before Eckels should have been allowed to go back in time he should have learned how to use the weapons to protect himself. Val had known that it was risky but she wanted to go and take that risk to have a second experience. In “A sound of Thunder” when they went back in time Eckels had stepped off of the path without knowing. In “Being Prey” Val knew what she was doing and did it anyway because she wanted to. When Val got attacked by the crocodile she knew it was her fault and in “A sound of Thunder” Eckels knew about the path but didn’t know where it ended so he kept going. Both of them, Eckels and Val, both got attacked by something even though Val ended up getting hurt worse than Eckels. They both wanted to have a fun experience so they went back in time and on a
