Summary This paper analyzes a product launch for the United Soccer League (USL). The product launch is a promotion and relegation system, which would be installed by the USL expanding by launching a division three professional soccer league. The USL currently already has a league at the division two level. There are several important factors involved with this product launch. The professional soccer environment in the United States is difficult to navigate, and it’s important that USL doesn’t lose its position in the US Soccer pyramid. In addition, with the expansion, it is important that the new league and new teams understand what factors make franchises stable financially at the lower levels. The USL also has an opportunity with its product launch to bring a new concept to professional soccer in America with promotion and relegation. This is a system that can only be achieved with multiple leagues working together, and with the USL launching a second league, they could be the first professional soccer entity in the United States to have promotion and relegation, which is used in every European country in regards to soccer. The NASL had a unique structure with no salary cap and very small fees for expansion teams, which meant growth with new teams was relatively easier than most leagues and if owners wanted to spend, they could attract players financially without any limits. The league aggressively went after attracting stars that weren’t just second tier players as well. Real Madrid legend Raúl, Barclays Premier League veteran Joe Cole, Niko Kranjčar, and Georgios Samaras are just some of the names that played in the NASL between 2012 and 2015. The two essays’ “Usl at the Stadium” by Rivka Galchen and “From is Shaming Necessary?” by Jennifer Jacquet express that society should not shame individuals if it is something that is not sever. Because the shamers’ tend to shame others because they feel like there is no other alternative or way for people to see or understand them. Shaming others can put them in dark spot that can be hard for them to get out of. If shaming is to be used as a punishment then it should be used for serious problems like drunk driving and criminal offenses.
Some of the most prolific franchises in sports, like the Oakland Raiders and Baltimore Colts of the National Football League, have moved to other cities breaking off their loyalty to the hometown fans. More important than the actual moves are the more frequent threatened moves. When teams “play the field” and explore the option of playing in other cities they are able to lure interested cities into giving them just about any royalty they want. New stadiums are only the beginning. The willingness to threaten departure has secured for teams a variety of land deals, lower taxes, more revenues from parking and concessions, control of stadium operations, guaranteed ticket sales, renovation of stadiums with luxury seating, control over neighborhoods and transportation systems, and that’s only the beginning of the list.

I have choosen to use th XFL as a marketing vehicle for my energy/supplement bar. The XFL has been able to position itself as a fast paced hardcore football league. The nature of the leage would compliment the nature of my product in that people will assosiate my product with the action on the field. The league is focusing on a younger active audience and that is the same target market that I am looking to reach with my product. The high awareness and anticipation for the league makes this an ideal time for my product to be introduced to the market.
Soccer (Football) is said to be the world’s most popular sport in the world, USA are one the few countries where soccer isn't the main sport. The beautiful game is a game of passion; fans coming together to form a ‘religion’ but all this fun and excitement come down to money. The football business is one that generates a great deal of revenue from betting to tickets, TV and shirts sponsorship and transfer deals. You can argue it’s the richest sport in the world. Here in America we are late boomers to the soccer craze, which is why our league isn't as strong as other like the Barclays Premier League, LA LIGA, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Serie A etc. In the year 1996, MLS was founded and the association was not favorably disposed to by the general public. As time went by, more Americans accepted and grew interest in sport. The Major League Soccer and United States Soccer Association (USSA) have since had hard time attracting revenue due to numerous problems.
New entrants into this industry are unusual since NBA League approval and a sharp franchise fee stand in the way of potential new team owners. Moreover, attempting to deceive the NBA would put the following difficulties into an entrepreneur’s path are: massive capital costs, lack of brand reputation, lack of TV revenue, and steep competition for talent. Extension teams occasionally do get approval, like the Charlotte Bobcats founded in 2004. Though, the competition that so many different industries face from new entrants is practically non-existent in professional basketball.

Globalization is erasing country borders. It’s expanding something to a worldwide scale, and generally making the world a little bit smaller. When you think of globalization in terms of sports, the best example is soccer. Soccer is something that started in 1863 as a simple game played in England by people of humble beginnings and not long after that turned into a worldwide phenomenon (Parrish). Soccer has over 3.5 billion fans worldwide. When you really think about that number you realize how big of a deal that is. That’s about 50% of the world’s population. Meaning that 1 in every 2 people watch, play, and generally enjoy soccer. The globalization aspect of it comes in when you know that its regional popularity is in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas: basically, almost the entire world.
Soccer is a religion to many in the world. It is interpreted in many different ways, became a lifestyle and family to millions of people. If soccer is a religion, money has become it's undisputed god in the 21st century. Money lives and thrives throughout the sport of soccer in many ways. Whether people like it or not it is on jerseys and stadiums, in the player's mind, and the owners grasp. Some of the biggest clubs in the world are products of brilliant branding of the club's name. This is achieved through lucrative owners and presidents, but when does money become too much of a distraction and a problem for the sport? There is a very fine line between using and abusing money in the sport today.

The number one recommendation for American teams is that they should focus on building teams to which players and fans would be loyal to, and then they will build success and gain revenue in the process. This can definitely be a changing factor for sports in America.
