Looking at the issues with constructing a new stadium in the city of London the main issue was finding the perfect location that can support our plans of having a multi-purpose stadium with 100,000 seating capacity. We found two possible locations that were completely different in geographical positioning. The first location we found was about twelve miles outside the city of London, which is not bad in a sense because it was a cheap plot of land. Then we came to a realization that our potential fans would be passing the new state of the art Wembley Stadium. Since the stadium is brand new and holds up to 90,000 soccer fans, we decided that we needed to find an area to build within the city of London itself that would be different to Wembly …show more content…
Stadium. We discovered a prime location located near the one of the largest mass transportation stops in the city of London. The first issue with the property is 1.4 million square feet. Now that may seem like a nice piece of land, that is right in the center of London, but it cannot support the local fan base that we are attempting to draw in. The other growing concern is the price of the land. Since it is in a heavily populated area, with scenic views, it is priced at $425,000,000. The issue with this is if we are going to buy this property, we are already taking a massive hit without even starting to build. Our plan to ensure that we would not pay this price is to make a deal with the company that is selling the property. In order for us to attempt at not making a substantial increase to our costs, we decided to make a deal with the London and Regional Group Holdings Company. We decided to offer them a naming rights deal that would essentially cancel out the price that we would pay for the property itself. The deal we drew up would be for the exchange for the property for free. We would offer them to put their companies name on the front of the stadium that would be there for 20 years. Another industrial concern we would have is the river we are located next to. Since our stadium would be located next to the River Thames, our facility would be endangered of being subjected to flooding every once and a while. Overview: The main goal of our stadium is to create a one of a kind experience where the fans love to have a good time and interact with one another. Fans are the reason for professional team growth and we realize that fans need to fall in love with a venue to continue to come back. Another goal we have when building this stadium is to maximum revenue by having an event daily, making the stadium a multipurpose venue is huge in that respect. With all of the innovations to the playing field for the games themselves we will be able to house almost any event that would like to be held in our stadium. The last major goal we have for our stadium is to Go Green and be spending no money and having our renewable resources paid for in ten years. Our mission statement for our stadium is telling of what we want to stand for and what we mean for the community around us. The mission statement “First class experience for first class fans”. This to us represents the loyalty of the fans to our teams that will be housed in this stadium. London’s fans are passionate and it will show from the large outpouring of fans to catch events. We want the fans to be the focal point of our stadium and they will be rewarded for coming with an absolutely beautiful facility, along with state of the art technology to help with the experience. The values of our facility are to be as followed. With our population being so large surrounding our stadium of 8.5 million, we want to ensure we can accommodate all fans looking to attend an event. We want to provide a safe and friendly environment for families to enjoy. We will always provide our best quality service to our fans, as well as a trained staff to be mindful to the fans. Draw in a diverse fan demographic and bring them together in a fun filled enjoyable atmosphere that will provide memories to last a lifetime. We will stay competitive in the market while also keeping the venue affordable for fans. Our stadium is built to accommodate a large fan base while also accommodating the smallest request.
We have a multifaceted facility to attract every fan around the city of London. We plan to host multiple sports within our stadium. We are including but are not limited to Football, Soccer, Rugby, and Track and Field. This facility will be able to host an event daily to maximize the profit and the fans experiencing our facility. The stadium will feature a new state of the art Kentucky bluegrass surface that will maximize the play on the field. This grass will be manicured daily to ensure that the field is top of the line. The track aspect of the stadium will be suspended in the air and when needed will be able to be dropped down into place to compete on. This design helps us maximize the space for the fans due to being able to have seats closer to the field. The other major aspect for fans is a video board that wraps around the whole inside of the stadium, creating an encompassing atmosphere that allows fans to see from anywhere. This aspect is unlike any other stadium around the world and revolutionizes fan experience. Within this stadium we will also have a fan section for our soccer fans to be together during games, this atmosphere, The Tea Time Crew, will give the soccer fans a place to be wild while also connecting with people around them. The energy and resources for the whole stadium is going to be renewable and be the main reason why costs will be so high …show more content…
in the beginning. The roof is going to be a main reason for the renewable energy, being made of almost 100% solar panels to create the energy to power the stadium. The construction for this stadium is going to break ground in 2017 after the deal is signed off and the details are all made final.
Once ground is broken on this stadium we have a timetable to be finished within two years. This will give us time to set up our headquarters for the football team and allow us time to have our season ticket holders a time to come in and get acquainted with their new home for years to come. Once 2019 rolls around we will be fully functional for all events and ready to start a new chapter in London
sports. All of this will be possible because of the support we have received from the city of London, they are ready to have a Football presence in their city and want to make a mark on the sports worlds in general. We have the land being sold to us through a deal at which we will not have to spend any money up front. The construction of the building is being done so fans have the best view from any seat on the city of London and can experience what they can be a part of with these teams coming to stay in this stadium. This project after the land being built is funded with 500 million dollars from the city of London, along with private funding of another 1 billion dollars. The total projected cost is around 2 billion dollars. Construction Plan: The property is located in down town city of London next to the River Thames at the Waterloo Site. The stadium will sit on 1.4 million acres with a beautiful scenery of both the city of London and the River. To ensure there is no damage to our facility a flood, we would implement a three part plan. First we would put up a stone barrier that would be about three feet tall and about two in a half foot wide. This would ensure that the current of a minor storm would not be able to knock over nor would the water over flow. In case of a severe storm, we decided to have a separate glass structured wall to be placed on top of the three foot stone wall already, but only two feet in width. The addition would give the already standing wall another five feet in height. Now to install this, there would be pillars attached in the center of the glass pillars that would slide into already redeveloped holes within the stone wall. This would help keep the wall sturdy and ensure that the water would not over flow nor would the additional barrier fall over. Next, turning a bad situation into a good one we would have drains behind the barriers as an extra insurance because we would be able to filter this water to be used throughout the stadium. Once the tanks of recycled water is filled, the drains would automatically close off then our last resort would fall be in place. We would have a “Topmix Permeable” black top that would be able to soak up water 600 liters every minute for every meter squared (Watch: This new 'thirsty' concrete absorbs 4,000 litres of water in 60 seconds , 2015). This would help us ensure the safety of our stadium. The reasons for the glass wall being put up before a storm and not left their permanently is so fans would have a chance to take pictures, fish, and hangout by the river. This provides a better experience for fans if they do not feel like they are in an enclosure. Within the walls, our stadium is going to be five levels that includes the following, club, luxury, group seating down by the field, and regular seating for fans. In addition will have a retractable roof for climate control of games so fans do not suffer through rough weather. It will be able to hold around 100,000 fans comfortably and will ensure the “Going Green” outlook. To be considered as an ecofriendly stadium we will have as followed: first we will install enough solar panels that will be covering the entire roof along with the retractable part. This will draw enough power to generate fifty percent of our electricity usage. Too add to that, we will have wind turbines that will be able set up around the edges of the roof. This will be able to collect enough energy to power our stadium the remaining fifty percent. In addition to this, since we are using recycled water due to the drains located all throughout the outside of our property, this will provide our stadium with clean water and reduce our usage by as much as sixty percent. For the layout of the facility we will have an overview of the stadium so the fans will have a general view of the stadium from and can see how beautiful the view is. Going along with the overview of the stadium we will also have a layout for the seating chart. This will allow the fans to see where their seats would be, and see what kind of view they will have while attending our home games. We will also have exits signs throughout the stadium so our fans know where to go out if an emergency would occur during an event. Having this signs will allow the fans to get out in a proper manor without anyone getting hurt during the exits. While we implement the charts and the exit signs, our facility layout will also consist of signs for parking around the stadium and how to exit the parking lot, along with the signs well have employee’s direct traffic entering and leaving the stadium lots. So we can avoid any traffic or delays that could possibly occur following our sporting events. Financial Plan: Our financial plan well is based off of each team renting out the stadium for their schedule events, so we’ll be able to fairly share the stadium for our teams so that there are no conflicts with our teams on planning their sporting events. The way we would have to figure this out is making sure that when our seasons start, if we have multiple games at home during one day we would need to implement a plan which will give us enough time to switch he field logos for the other team and clean up all the garbage from our first event. Our stadium will mainly be for the London Chaps, all the other teams that we will be holding in the stadium will have to pay at least a fee to use our facility, it will be a minimally payment for the year of $250,000 just so it will offset our payments for all our facility fees we would have to pay.
Cubs and moved his new team to the three year old stadium. Later that year
The multi-purpose arena that I have chosen to evaluate is Boston University’s Agganis Arena. This arena is considered to be the next generation of Boston sports and entertainment by incorporating the latest multimedia technologies and providing the finest possible sight lines and views of the action. The arena is located within Boston University's new $225 million John Hancock Student Village, a 10-acre hub of activity designed to be the thriving center of student life and athletics, Agganis Arena is a state-of-the-art, multipurpose sports and entertainment center scheduled to open in January 2005. A 290,000-square-foot premier venue with 6,300 seats for hockey and ice shows, the Arena is expandable to over 7,200 seats for concerts, sporting events, and family shows.
The two essays’ “Usl at the Stadium” by Rivka Galchen and “From is Shaming Necessary?” by Jennifer Jacquet express that society should not shame individuals if it is something that is not sever. Because the shamers’ tend to shame others because they feel like there is no other alternative or way for people to see or understand them. Shaming others can put them in dark spot that can be hard for them to get out of. If shaming is to be used as a punishment then it should be used for serious problems like drunk driving and criminal offenses.
The Dallas Cowboys, America’s football team, one of the most well known professional football franchises in the sport’s history. The Cowboys own five super bowl titles, which were won in ’71, ’77, ’92, ’93 and ’95. They are also home to 19 renowned individuals who have been inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame including standout football stars Tony Dorsett, Emmit Smith, and Troy Aikman. Established in 1960, the Cowboys have been a dominating force on the field and still continue to produce to this day. Forbes wrote, “The Cowboys franchise value reaches over 1.85 billion and are listed as the third most valued sports team in the world”, (Page 1). With all of this hype and world wide recognition the powerhouse from Dallas needs a venue just as prominent as the team itself as well as having the capability to hold all the weight the Cowboys name carries.
Communitas can be considered an important value to the world of sports. However, some people do not understand the concept of communitas. According to Victor Turner (1969), communitas is “an unstructured community in which people are equal, or to the very spirit of community,” (New World Encyclopedia). Trujillo’s study of baseball showed what he thought of communitas. In his periodical, Interpreting (the Work and Talk of) Baseball: Perspective on Ball Ballpark Culture, Trujillo (1992) said that ballpark community results in the development of interpersonal relationships at yearly “family reunions,” known as employee orientation (Western Journal Communication). Communitas is thought differently by other writers and scholars. However, they all come to a Turner’s conclusion that it deals with a temporary community that is equal in every way and is there for single purpose.

In the heart of downtown Los Angeles nestled within the valley of Chavez Ravine lies Dodger Stadium. Overlooking green valleys and rolling hills with the skyscrapers of the city behind it, Dodger Stadium appears as the epitome of peace in bustling Los Angeles. Few would fathom that beneath this sanctum of the Los Angeles Dodgers resides a village of Mexican Americans. Critics ranging from muralist Judy Baca, to academic writers Tara Yosso and David García, to the people displaced themselves argue that the creation of Dodger Stadium can never be justified because it destroyed a village. The construction of Dodger Stadium served the common good according to the definition given in the International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences. The demolition of Palo Verde, La Loma, and Bishop was the fault of the City Housing Authority (CHA), not owner Walter O’Malley who capitalized on Chavez Ravine at the right moment. O’Malley was primarily a businessman who was in charge of the team to make money in order to satisfy thousands of customers while supporting the club’s workers. Finally, the majority of people living in Los Angeles supported the addition of a baseball team which would in turn benefit the city itself.
The Texas Rangers were absolutely abysmal last year, garnering the worst record in the AL, and in no way looking like a postseason team. Rangers manager had two options, and neither looked like a winning situation. He could blow up the team and try and rebuild it over the course of a couple years. But that wasn’t good enough for Daniels, he trusted his work years and years before, and he knew he had something with this bunch. So he stuck it out, made some minor moves, and boy has it paid off.
1. In what ways, do sport and physical activity serve as a microcosm of society? (Chapter 1) Sport and physical activity serves as a microcosm of society in many ways. Mirroring the values and beliefs of a cultural group, they reinforce what we are committed to as a society.
Gage Park is number sixty-three of seventy-seven neighborhoods that make up the city of Chicago. According to the Chicago Park District (2014), the Gage Park area received its name in honor of Commissioner George Gage who was a respected prominent business man and attorney in the late 1870’s. Located on the southwest side of Chicago; Gage Park is a community that is known for its cultural history and diversity over the years. Many different races have lived in this community from the time it was developed, and this trend continues to evolve. As mentioned in the Encyclopedia of Chicago (2005), the Germans first settled in Gage Park in mid-1800s. Later in the 1920’s, the area became populated with the Polish population who migrated for employment.
Change is often met with opposition, skepticism, and even euphoria. All three of these feelings have been expressed with the announcement of the Atlanta Braves Major League Baseball team’s search for a new stadium to commence their 2017 season. The Braves current stadium is known as Turner Field, which originally completed construction in 1996 to host the 1996 Summer Olympics, is scheduled for demolition in 2017. The Braves announced that they are pursuing the construction of a new stadium in Cobb County, located in the northeast suburbs outside Atlanta. The new Cobb County stadium location far out weights the inner city location of Turner Field.
There is a nationwide trend in which taxpayers are asked to pay for new stadiums these stadiums benefit a single corporation. A sport construction boom has started, these new stadiums cost a minimum of $200 million to build, but usually cost much more. New stadiums have been built, or are underway, in New York, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Seattle, Tampa, Washington DC, St. Louis, Jacksonville, and Oakland. This competitive trend replaces old stadiums with high tech flashy stadiums used exclusively for one sport. These stadiums are unnecessary, and not cost efficient. Most of the time new stadiums are not used for multi-purposes, they bring in money exclusively for the professional league and not ...
In Major League Baseball, stadiums can affect the game dramatically by the size and by the way the dirt is laid out and how the weather is as well. The baseball teams and players can be affected by this in their major life physically and mentally. Major League Baseball is a prominent organization in our daily life. The game is very important for most people. The game is a lifestyle to people as well. Baseball has changed over the years. For instance, Pete Palmer states, “The way baseball is playing right now is completely different from the past” (Palmer, summary, 2014). A very helping part of baseball are baseball stadiums. For example, ballparks of america says, “... ballparks are amazing, they help us play” (ballparks of america, summary,
From 2001 2002 there was a 23% increase in the construction of sports stadiums and arenas with costs of those facilities upwards of $7.8 billion. The growing global sport industry requires that sport facility and event management keep current of new and proven management techniques.
