month of October 73% of minors go to Munchy’s studies have shown. This means more minors go to Munchy’s while school is in session. This issue affects teenagers who eat at Munchy's because minors who try to eat there can not. This can cause problems business that are not getting enough money can go bankrupt because they are only serving adults. Yajaira Lopez Introduction: “The ad claimed that high school students are noisy, play loud music, and are on their cellphones all the time.” (Munchy’s ban students) Which is trying to say that teens are very loud and disturbing, but not all teens are the same. This is a problem because it affects the business company since they would lose profit. Belinda: The business analysis shows that 80%of adults eat more during July. But it also shows that 73% of teenagers eat during october and only 27% adults. The issue at hand is that restaurant wants to ban teenagers. This affects the teenagers Efrain Arce: “ Discrimination on the basis of age is an outrage and a violation of our civil rights.” It’s trying to say that it’s discriminating all teens. The issue affects the business. If Mr. Jones would ban the teens the business will get less money and business will get you. Josie Uvario Was not here yet. Michelle Moso Conclusion: In Conclusion Munchy’s should really let teenagers eat at Munchy’s because they also contribute money to the store. Mr.Jones should let teenagers contribute to the company because it will really benefit the owner and the company as well. Yajaira Lopez Conclusion: Mr. Jones should not ban teenagers from his restaurant because they can also bring in business with Mr. Jones and they can control their level of maturity just like adults. When Mr. Jones allows teens to contribute, he is able to make more money faster rather than just waiting around for adults to come in the restaurant and be waiting for less money. Teenagers are part of society and have the same rights as anybody else, therefore, if Mr. Jones wants to make business, he needs to think twice and allow teens to also contribute because by doing this, Mr. Jones will make a better profit faster than he would with just allowing adults. GROUP #4 Keeping Teenagers Intro Paragraph Josie, Aw’jae, Efrain, Yajaira, Michelle, Belinda Section 1. Lead Section 2. Follow-up Section 3. Issue at hand Section Thesis Food business bans hungry hard working students from his restaurant at lunch time. Munchies owned by Mr. Jones bans students from his restaurant from his restaurant from 123 because he thinks they are loud and messy. The problem is that Mr. Jones is banning students from his restaurant during lunch time this affects the students because they can't go eat lunch.Even though Mr. Jones the owner of Munchies thinks banning students will bring him more business, banning students will also make him lose money in the long run because students also contribute, adults can be loud and messy too, and adult customers coming back is not promised. Body Paragraph #1 Topic sentence #1 - What does the evidence say/show? What does this evidence mean/prove? Why does this evidence matter? Many adults hold the belief that teenagers just go to Munchies to hang out; however, they also contribute money to the business. While teenagers are in school they often go to Munchy’s to “hang out” but normally they are doing both. Once school starts Munchy’s business goes up because students are contributing money as well. Taking away the students will make Munchies lose money also. Business Analysis (Source 2), there were 73% of minors who went to Munchy’s in the month of October. Meaning that while school is in session there is more customers in Summer than any other. This matters because students are not just there to hang out but there to contribute money as well. Body Paragraph #2 Topic sentence #1 - What does the evidence say/show? What does this evidence mean/prove? Why does this evidence matter? Many adults/ business people may argue that students are loud, obnoxious, and always on their phone; however, many adults are worst than the students, they have bad attitudes, and they can also be loud and messy too. “The last time i was at Munchy’s , ALL the noise came from loud, annoying business people who were either on their cell phones or arguing with each other.” Meaning that teenagers are not the only ones on their phones, adults as well can be noisy and messy. This clearly states that teenagers shouldn’t be banned because adults can also be immature.
Everyone should have the right to do or go wherever they want they are not the ones to blame. Body Paragraph #3 Topic sentence #1 - What does the evidence say/show? What does this evidence mean/prove? Why does this evidence matter? Some may say students will not make Munchies restaurant grow in business; however, the less customers they allow, the less money they make, and Mr.Jones banning students will not promise that adults will be back. Basically what Mr. Jones is trying to do is get rid of all teenagers just like other business are driving away customers. What Mr. Jones is actually doing is losing business faster as he tries to get rid of teens who can also contribute. Meaning that Mr. Jones needs to make different choices by allowing teens in the restaurant, otherwise his business will not be any good and the restaurant will lose profit causing it to shut down. Allowing teenagers to his restaurant will make him gain more money if they are allowed to always eat there. This will help his business grow knowing a lot of customers will go and eat there since it has been known as a popular place to eat . Conclusion: What did you say/show in your
essay? What does all of this mean/prove? Why does any of this matter? Mr.
Stephen Boos has worked in the food service industry for over 30 years. He started as a bus person and subsequently trained as a chef’s apprentice. Steve’s mother believed that a college education was something that everyone should receive. She felt that a college degree was a good investment in Steve’s future. In 1976 at his mother’s insistence, Boos moved to Northeastern Ohio to attend Kent State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After graduation, Steve began working for East Park Restaurant as a line cook. Using his education as a foundation, Steve made a point to learn everything he could about running a restaurant, from cutting meat to the bi-weekly food and beverage orders. His versatility, keen business sense, and ability to control costs resulted in Steve’s promotion to General Manager, as role he has held since 1995.
Thomas Jefferson was a man who believed that all American citizens need to be educated so that they may exercise their rights. He saw public education as essential to a democracy. One proposal he made for public education would guarantee that all children could attend public schools for three years. However, much like other early school reforms, this proposal received much rejection and was never brought into being. Despite this rejection, Jefferson still believed that America needed public education. Eventually, he opened the University of Virginia. Even though his bills and proposals to benefit public education never saw the light of day, he still made many contributions to public education by providing the foundation on how a democracy should handle educating its
In the study of The Way Schools Work we learned to question the ideals of meritocracy and the American dream. However, Conflict Theories challenge the system of meritocracy, in which people are sorted and selected on the basis of talent and ability. On the contrary, “Conflict Theories, on the other hand, imply a system of inheritance in which people’s life chances are largely determined by their starting point within an existing structure of inequality” (McNamee and Miller Jr. 2014, 11). According to these theorists mentioned in The Way Schools Work (Boudin 1974; Bowles and Gintis 1976; Carnoy 1972; Carnoy and Levin 1985; Persell 1977), they speak about how schools reproduce status in several ways. First, they use formal language, and hold

The article reviewed serves as a compliment to the research on school policies and its connection to the juvenile court, and how the school-to-prison pipeline has been created. The research article is “Education or Incarceration: Zero Tolerance Policies and the School to Prison Pipeline”. The theme focuses on the flourishing trend in public schools across America that criminalizes students’ minor disciplinary issues as a part of the emerging “zero tolerance” disciplinary policies and the factors that come along with it. This article separates itself from others by noting the influence of media on today’s youth and adults. In an effort to maintain peace, safety and a disciplined environment conducive to effective teaching and learning, many schools have adopted the zero tolerance policy. This philosophy was originally created in the 1990’s as an approach towards drug enforcement to address the rampant use, possession and sales of drugs in schools (Jones, 2013). Today, this policy is used to mandate the application of pre-determined consequences of violation of stated rules. These rules may pertain to a number of issues; drugs, bullying, theft, and corporal punishment.

As the book was published and the general public began to read it; different opinions on the book started to come to fruition. “ The controversy began in March 1976 when the chair of the Long Island School Board, Richard J Ahrens, … ordered 60 books to be removed form the Island Tress School District High School Library.”(Nicholas 48). This appears to have caused many individuals and groups great concern. Their concerns mostly appear to be from rights violations. In 1979 a U.S. district court judge ruled that school boards have the right to determine the “suitability” of the content of library materials. Ultimately the courts became involved due to continued disagreements between the school board and those against the banning of the book.
