In my opinion, student voice refers not only to the perspectives of the student body of HWDSB, but also to the perspectives of each individual student, and the perspectives of the various demographics of students in the board. It encompasses the concerns, questions, and opinions of each of the almost 50000 students in the board.
As a school board, HWDSB’s ultimate goal is to provide a learning environment for students which allows them to grow and flourish to their greatest potential. It is hard to do this without considering the perspective of students in matters that directly or indirectly affect them. The purpose of student voice in our school board is to ensure that trustees and all staff of the board are acting with a complete and thorough understanding of the perspective of the students that they influence.
For me, as a Student Trustee, this would mean advocating for the opinions of students no matter who they are, and hearing and responding appropriately to feedback and concerns from students regardless of personal opinion and bias. This includes advocating for students in an equitable manner. It is important to make sure students feel their concerns are being heard, and to thoroughly handle concerns and questions to a student’s

I want them to be able to share their point of view with me. To accomplish this, I want to make the positions of Student Senator and Student Trustee better known throughout the board. I have only heard about these positions in the last few months, and, after asking, it seems many people in my school and community are also unaware that they exist. It can be especially hard for students to feel like their voice is being heard when they are not even aware of the proper channels through which to express their
The role of school boards “is to establish a vision for the community's schools that reflects a consensus of the board, community and district staff.” Although this is their main purpose, they also have to balance a district budget, create a district-yearly calendar, negotiate contract, construction, and approve district curriculum. (Stover 1) Although it might seem harsh to argue with school boards even though they do a lot, it is their job. They were appointed to lead and better the community, guide our children. If they are not mentally ready to be a leader, then why run for a school board member, the focus should be on the children, how to better education for them, and how to make sure they get the most out of every day coming to school.
By having school board meetings, it helps to see what the school’s needs. This is very important for the reason that this may be the only time that a concern parent or person voice might be heard. From this meeting, it was learned that the school board members are willing to help people that have concerns. An example, of this, was when the concern Pre-K parent was worried that she heard that Pre-K has been just a daycare. However, someone from the board mentioned to her that she would personally go with the parent the next day and show her how Pre-K is running during the day. This made the parent so happy because her concerns were being met. I have learned that school board members look out for the students and that they are the number one source that community members should go to if they have a concern or a suggestion to better their children’s
I went to the school board meeting on March 21, 2016 in Kanawha. The first part of the meeting was the revision of the budget and presentation of the budget. This was given by Wayne Kronneman. He explained the budget of this year and how it compared to last years. Also he also talked about the budget for next year. After that they had a discussion with the

We partake in the operation of our school with being involved in decision-making at various levels and in many fields by attending staff meetings, organising various school events and initiatives as well as regularly engage in dialogue with our fellow students. In being School Captains, we are also part of the Student Representative Council. The SRC has enabled the students of Pal Buddhist School to have their ideas and opinions represented and to have an input into the running of the school. We amplify their ideas, attitudes and values in order to positively influence our school and public communities. We are proud to say that the SRC acts as a forum for
Student Board members’ goal is to unify both the students and the faculty. The members work to unify the entire school by playing an active role in the activities and programs. All of the clubs at Marian are moderated and approved by Student Board. The three Student Board Members from the class of 2021 are Kori Bullard, Quinn Findley, and Amelia Zimmerman. Student Board is moderated by Mrs. Steiner and Ms.
I actually have prior experience with student councils, because I was Vice President of my middle school’s student council in seventh grade. There, my role was to assist the president in leading the council meetings. The council meetings consisted of meeting with the other council members and explaining the upcoming events we plan on working on. I had to preside for the president when he was absent, wanted to debate, or made a motion. What I was most known for was my remarkable commitment to the council.
On Wednesday, March 15, 2017, I attended the monthly meeting of Community Board 1 in Staten Island, New York. I want to be a member of Student Senate because, while the school is in the right direction, improvements can still be made. As a freshman, I want to be able to represent my peers in a positive way. I recognize the importance of the Student Senate, and will put in my best efforts. Freshmen can get swept under the rug, and I believe I could give them a voice. I want to participate in the bettering of this school, and really try to make a difference. I have the desire to be involved, and make decisions that will benefit the school as a whole. I hope to give students the best high school experience possible, specifically making the freshmen’s first year enjoyable.
In reflection on my learning experience in the group class, I have gained clarity on what sorts of competencies of facilitating group therapy, as well as in what areas social workers and students tend to feel most strong in my practice. Regarding my specific gains in competencies, I feel that I learned the most and was most likely to gain specific group facilitating competencies at the weekly class. Learning in group class is taught me the tools to use to work with groups therapy, communities and also with individuals through the process of changes. In this past three months I think a lot of opportunities have been created to shadowing with (beside and behind) and being a part of group members to learn. In addition, this class has taught me about the skills and how effectively help

Writing a reflection and a summary of dozens of experiences is very challenging and demanding. I cannot count how many ups I had, yet I cannot deny the fact that I had some downs where I could transform them to ups. The year was full of challenges, excitement, fear and lessons. Each Wednesday I had mixed emotions. Every time I came to school I had the same fear and heartbreaks. In my reflection I am willing to compare between Adan at the beginning of the year and new Adan I became.
Overall my experience of being in Lingleville ISD was a great experience that allowed me to learn a lot not only about the students in the classroom, but also helped me learn a lot about myself. Going in to this classroom I expected to only learn things about classroom management and maybe a few strategies. After spending a few days in this room I learned many other things. I did learn about classroom management but I also learned about content, strategies, organization, lesson planning, and inclusion adaptations. I learned that an inclusion special education student can really thrive being in a mainstream classroom, not only academically but also socially. It was a wonderful learning opportunity to get to be a part of that. My mentor teacher
Audience Analysis: I am writing to the seven chairmen of the ___ County School Board. They are a made up of a group of five men and two women. They are most likely all parents who have a common concern on the material being taught on the issue of Sex Education in schools. Fellow parents vote on them to insure that they make the correct decisions on what their kids are learning in school. They are all from some form of the Christian religion. They are from ages 30 and older. They represent all races. They all have a college degree and the majority of them have doctorate degree in education. They are mainly from the upper economic levels in society. The chairmen are very dedicated to their jobs and take a great deal of consideration when voting on school board codes/regulations. Therefore, they are willing to hear both sides of an issue that is to be voted on due to its’ importance.
