A common theme that can be seen often in life, history, and books is the theme of struggle. Struggle is defined as an effort to get free of restraint or constrictions. Thus, struggles are everywhere because life contains a good number of ups and downs; there is usually never a day where one doesn’t have to overcome something. With this in mind, everyone has their own struggles that they have to deal with whether it be physically, mentally, or both. As a result, I, myself, am not perfect and I also have struggles in my life as well. To begin with, throughout my four years in high school, I have made some sacrifices and most of them was during my senior year. Senior year was very chaotic and crucial because it was the moment in my life where …show more content…
I will try step by step to become more independent and try to not rely on my parents for everything although there are still certain things where I have to learn from them. Just like how I rely on my parents, clients that climb Everest rely on their sherpas in the the same way. To illustrate, it has been said that “Sherpas set up ropes navigating the safest paths for clients..as well as carrying heavy loads of fuel, food, ropes, oxygen and tents for clients..”(Morrow 3). Furthermore, what drives me to move on and make decisions to better myself as a member of society is my parents. I often think about the struggles that they’ve made in order for me to even be typing this essay right now. They have done so much that I want to better myself so that I can repay them for everything. Through their hard work and sweat, I have made my decision to become a Pharmacist so that I can help them with whatever they need and to make sure they are healthy as the years go by. In additon, to ask if I’m ready to become that member of society is really hard because I am determined to become a Pharmacist; however, I don’t know if I can make it because the road to become a Pharmacist is very complex. With this being said, the path of a sherpa is also very rigid. For instance, Morrow notes, there were “deaths of 13 sherpas, with a further three missing and expected killed, in an avalanche at Mount Everest last Friday..” (1). To sum it up, no matter what path one takes, the journey is stiff and difficult to
Looming obstacles in the life of an individual serve as molds which instill perseverance, hard work in an individual's identity and bring hope for the future.
It is true that obstacles in life are uncomfortable and unsupportable experiences, but if we would learn to look at the bright sides of problems, keep seeking opportunities, manage situations and learn from failures then the difficulties that we face in our life would turn out for the better not only in the present but also in the
Did you know tobacco and alcohol use cause over 475,000 deaths in the U.S. annually? To assist young people in avoiding these harmful behaviors, the D.A.R.E. program enhances the knowledge and awareness of the hazards regarding dangerous substances throughout a ten week program. The acronym D.A.R.E. stands for drugs, abuse, resistance, and education. D.A.R.E. ensures the safety of adolescents in various situations and instills beneficial strategies, techniques, and tips to aid young people in making responsible decisions.
A major factor in the development of character through personal struggle is that it shows a person what they are willing to do to succeed. One example of this is the acclaimed author J.K. Rowling. She and her daughter suffered from poverty prior to, and during the beginning of writing the infamous Harry Potter series. She had to get undesirable jobs, and write in coffee shops without a computer or copy machine, which meant that she had to manually process each copy that she sent to publishers. Through every problem thrown at her, she persevered, and proved to herself and others that she would do anything to succeed and support her family. Everyone has limits that they can push, and lines
At the start of the semester, my oblivious state of nature associating with the Chinese culture reached an unacceptable level. Implementing a necessary change, I decided to educate myself on different cultures starting with China. I failed to ponder that such a rich, deep culture existed outside America. Encompassed by this country’s unique yet suffocating melting pot culture, my outlook believed ideas such as uniformity between American Chinese food and Authentic Chinese food. After this course, my bigot perspective widened as I witnessed diversity in the world. Before this class, when I thought of Chinese food, my connotation jumped to thoughts associated with chop suey, but as I progressed my education, my mindset gradually pondered foods like steamed buns or “New Year Cakes” with authentic Chinese food.
If everyone thinks that without struggle, it is easy to obtain their goals that is entirely false. Struggle comes from the progress of our success and achievement. It is an indication that we poured all of our time and patience into the things we pursue. Jeannette Walls, the author of The Glass Castle, explain her struggles. She survives by finding foods from the trash can and earns money by babysitting, exchanging scrap metal, finding jobs, and from her parents. As a graduating student from high school, receiving my diploma is an indication that I ...
As I thought of this article, many of the issues I have faced as a single Hmong woman in her mid-twenties came to mind. Should I discuss the functional reasons why marriage is so important in the Hmong culture, especially for women? Or do I talk about the lack of eligible, older Hmong men? Better yet, should I complain about the attempts by my relatives to find me a good husband as if it were an unfortunate circumstance that I was single instead of a conscious choice? Thinking it over, though, I decided that all those questions boiled down to one fundamental truth – the Hmong community is still trying to learn how to treat the increasing number of Hmong women who, like me, are making the choice to stay single in their mid-twenties.
A very common concern that faces many high school students today in the world is whether they go to college or not. There are many factors in whether a student is eligible to attend a college or not. They have to have enough money to cover the cost, prepare early, and choosing what they want to attend college for. These are some of the many issues that might occur when a student starts to think or plan on going to a college.
A college degree is one of the best educations that a person can get. It not only develops your mind, but it helps to develop you as a person as well. No matter what kind of degree you receive, whether it be a bachelors, associates, or masters you are more likely to get a better job than without it or with just a high school diploma. Workers with a college degree will earn much more and are much less likely to be unemployed than those with only a high school diploma. This paper will argue that with a college degree you are more likely to get a higher paying job than without a degree. I will support this argument with multiple scholarly articles and other valid sources to further convince you.
When a student gets out of college the game plan is supposed to be, get a job in the field that you went to school for and make money so you can start your life. That particular situation is rare considering not all students get a job fresh out of college. For the students that don’t, they have to go back home and settle for a regular job and start paying off their giant student loans and put their life on hold. Even with having the job they wanted the student loans come right around the corner. After college is when the student’s life is supposed to start and the part where you get a car payment, pay rent, utilities, but none of that is possible when you add the enormous amount of money that the student will be in debt by. With the amount the students have to pay fresh out of college, more students are sacrificing more time struggling to pay off the student loans then they spent in school. Student loans are set-up in a way to be flawed and not always completely necessary to the student.
Throughout the entirety of my life I always have and always will face obstacles: I am a girl, I am African-American, I have a disabled brother, I have a single parent. Though these aspects of my life have created challenges, I am proud of who I am and I love my life. These challenges have molded my character and shaped me to be the person I am today and without these obstacles, I might not have been as driven to succeed, despite what has happened in my life that may have caused me to
In conclusion, we learn in life we have to face these challenges in each accomplishment to give us a sense of unity through our family members. In life, we have to go through these challenges everyday and some days it will be easy and some days it will not but as long as we have our friends, family and friends to point us to the right direction we can achieve basically anything we want too. Life there will be things that will hurt us or we can't be able to due, but we will soon overcome all these challenges in life and it will open a new doors for us.
Struggle can be defined as a determined effort with difficulties. In our idols, we have seen people take their struggles and alter them into opportunities for success. Dr. Martin Luther King was arrested multiple times in his fight for Civil Rights; Cesar Chavez and the other migrant farm workers were sprayed with pesticides and they still succeeded in changing the working conditions. Everyone living has had some struggle. Some such as the daughter described in Sweetness or the members of the college and career panel have had the luck and skill to turn those struggles into success.
Being a new college student can be tough. Balancing new work levels, trying to manage your time & also getting enough sleep are the main difficulties for a new college student coming straight from high school in my opinion. These problems can be easily solved by going to class and using the resources that are provided to you. This may not seem difficult but in reality it 's right in front of your face.
...e struggle is the completion of our task. There are conflicts in finding our purpose, how we are to complete our purpose, and finishing before death. These conflicts are determined by irrational conflicts and unconscious motivations.
