Employee motivation is one of the keys to success in any business, especially in a retail sales environment. It is particularly important to understand how employee motivation can be impacted by the strengths and weaknesses of AT&T’s retail sales consultant position (RSC). A series of interviews and surveys were conducted over a two-week period with employees of AT&T in the RSC position as well as retail management positions to determine how the employees really feel about this position as well as internal strengths and weaknesses that contribute to employee motivation. Although there are a lot of positive factors that keep the employees motivated within AT&T, there are some weaknesses that can cause employees to become demotivated.

Both bargained employees (retail sales consultants) and non-bargained employees (management) have great benefits working for AT&T. It will also protect the employees and represent them during employee disciplines. (G. Cohen, personal communication, September 1,
Phone companies are in a constant battle about which one has the best service. What would you say is the best phone company? AT&T and Verizon have been known to be one of the best companies, which means they are constantly competing against each other for customers. The two ads I found are from each companies perspective to show how both think they are the better carrier. I argue that Verizon is the better company between the two because of background knowledge and research that has been done.
You would not buy a home, car or other large purchases without researching what product offered you the most for your money. The same is true when investing in a company. Investors do avid research on multiple companies to find what company matches the investors' criteria. In this paper Team C will research both AT&T and Verizon's financial documents. Team C will compare selected ratios, cash flow and make recommendations how both companies can manage cash flow for the future.
Imagine if nobody had a cellphone in today’s world. That’s why today everybody has some form of a cellphone contract with the four major companies (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon or T-Mobile) or a less know cellphone provider. AT&T and Verizon Wireless provide more than the other two major companies.
Have you ever wondered how your phone company started out? Or the new innovations it has brought about? And maybe even how the business is run? Well, today I’m going to talk about AT&T’s history, the products it sells, the employee jobs and U-verse.
Branding/Promotion – AT&T is leading to be the only telecommunication company their customers need by connecting people better than anyone else.
In fact, it is the culture of motivated and empowered entrepreneurial employees that makes Nordstrom’s culture unique (Spector & McCarthy, 2012). There are less rules and procedures for Nordstrom’s sales personnel than in other retail organizations. Their sales clerks also operate with a certain level of autonomy, running their departments almost as if they are private stores (Mello, 2015). This overall strategic approach to HR keeps training costs low, and consequently the cost of turnover is also minimized. This is important, as Nordstrom’s turnover, due to the level of internal competition and entrepreneurialism this type of retail strategy requires, is one of the highest in its market (Mello, 2015). The high turnover rate makes HR planning an important factor in ensuring a stable workforce that can create and maintain ongoing customer relationships (Spector & McCarthy, 2012).

Bipolar disorder is also known as manic-depression disorder, may cause unusual changes in mood and behavior such as grandiosity, decreased energy, distractibility, diminished interest, insomnia, pressured speech, suicidal thoughts, and decrease in the ability to carry out day to day tasks (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders; 5th Ed.; DSM-5; American Psychiatric Association, 2013). According to Jann (2014) the symptoms of bipolar disorders are severe alternating between normal ups and downs leading in damaged relationships, poor job and school performance, and even suicide among the most severe. There are four types of bipolar disorder which include bipolar I disorder, bipolar II disorder, bipolar disorder not otherwise specified, and cyclothymic disorder Jann (2014).
When a person pressures someone to do something, it can lead to depression because they might not enjoy what they are forced to do. This one example of how misery and stress are added to a person’s life, resulting in depression. Many people tend to confuse bipolar disorder with depression and therefore it is imperative to learn the difference between both and encourage individuals who might be experiencing a mood disorder to seek medical help as soon as possible. The main difference between bipolar disorder and depression are the mania symptoms. Bipolar disorder is a condition that involves shifts in a person's mood from severe depression to manic phases accompanied with feelings of excessive excitement or irritability, extreme elation, and delusions of
The soft factors can make or break a successful change process, since new structures and strategies are difficult to build upon inappropriate cultures and values. These problems often come up in the dissatisfying results of spectacular mega-mergers. The lack of success and synergies in such mergers is often based in a clash of completely different cultures, values, and styles, which make it difficult to establish effective common systems and structuresBased on the case study, extensive research and annual reports of AT&T the writer has mapped AT&T in the different domains. AT&T should strive to attain a perfect circle as close to the centre as possible, which indicates total synergy, order and equilibrium. Where the circle is skewed drastic change is needed as it moves closer to the outer ring of chaos:
Bipolar disorder is a lifelong condition that can affect how you feel and how you act. It is a mood disorder caused by chemical imbalances in the brain that can result in extreme mood swings, from manic highs to depressive lows. Also known as manic-depressive disorders, bipolar disorder is categorized and determined as “a psychological state in which a person experiences a mood disorder causing radical alterations in their moods”. Elevated levels of either manic or depression are very common with a person affected by a bipolar disorder.
Taking the contributing factors into place, bipolar can happen at any time in a person’s life. The first contributing factor is genetics and there is still research about this connection. Researchers see that bipolar has been running in families, so they look at specific genes with certain abnormalities (TARTAKOVSKY, 2014). If a gene can cause bipolar, then the person can be born with bipolar. This is also the same for biological. The other contributing factor is biological and it deals with the neurotransmitter in the person’s body. The neurotransmitters are not functioning properly. The main contributing factor of bipolar is the environment. Research has shown that depending on the living condition of the person, bipolar will show up in the person. The living condition has to be a traumatic or a stressful event in the person’s life (TARTAKOVSKY, 2014). The person can have a traumatic event at any point in life and that might cause their bipolar disorder. People, who get bipolar from these contributing factors, can also have other disorders as
It is hard for people with bipolar to get along with others, especially in a very social environment. Also, the divorce rate is 2 to 3 times higher if the spouse has bipolar. One of the hardest things about bipolar, is that its very hard to hold down a job, take care of children, and managing money is extremely difficult if you cant even handle your emotions. The occurrence in population is higher than you think it would be. There are about 3 million cases per year, not including the people who don’t ask for help, or keep it to themselves. 2.6% of Americans the age of 18 or older are diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I think that this mutation has a negative effect on society. It affects a person’s whole life. 15-17% of the population with bipolar take their own lives due to overwhelming negative symptoms. It also leads to a very difficult
Motivation is the force that transforms and uplifts people to be productive and perform in their jobs. Maximizing employee’s motivation is a necessary and vital to successfully accomplish the organization’s targets and objectives. However, this is a considerable challenge to any organizations managers, due to the complexity of motivation and the fact that, there is no ready made solution or an answer to what motivates people to work well (Mullins,2002).
Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, “Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it.” Studies have found that high employee motivation goes hand in hand with strong organizational performance and profits. Therefore, managers are given the responsibility of finding the right combination of motivational techniques and rewards to satisfy employees’ needs and encourage great work performance. This becomes a bit more challenging as employees’ needs change from one generation to another. Three of the biggest challenges a manager faces in motivating employees today are the economy and threats to job security, technological advances, and company cultures that primarily focus on the bottom line.
