Stop Evaluating Yourself In the Flesh
I tend to view life based on my five senses more than I should… I know you don’t do that, I’m the issue here!
For example, if I fail in a situation, I see a bill I don’t like, or I hear news that’s negative and it can start to “wear on me”. Stuff begins to bother me and I begin to see myself and my situation through the limiting lens of my five senses, evaluating things only on what I can do within myself.
So, I had to sit myself down and have a talk with myself… strange I know. I needed to be corrected and still do at times. I desperately needed to change my view by asking myself,
What is the proper viewpoint of my situation or more importantly how should I view myself?
2 Cor. 5:16
Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.”
Literally the verse reads,
“From this point forward, refuse to pay attention to or perceive with your senses ANY ONE according to outward appearances as if they were apart from God and His influence...”
In 2 Corinthians 5:16, Paul the Apostle admonishes believers to STOP evaluating other believers by what is seen on the outside. But the key point I’m making here is that we must remember that this includes ourselves!

I’m included in that ANY ONE. If you’re born-again, you have the Spirit of Christ living on the inside of you within your born-again spirit (Romans 8:9, I Cor. 6:17). You’re not just the person you see in the mirror every day, that’s just your body, or exterior. You’re not just the person that you or your spouse or coworkers see or experience every day with their five senses - but you’re more than just that. We interact with each other on the exterior. But the Bible says, you are a new creation. One version of the scripture actually translates I Cor. 5:17 as you’re a “new species of being of that has never existed before”. Something has happened on the inside of you and its supernatural. God Himself has taken up residence within you. What has happened to me? 2 Cor 5:17-18 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” What old things have passed away? Well, the Bible describes the new birth as a life changing, life transforming experience. More on that in future posts, but a very significant change happens on the inside first. 1 Cor. 6:19 “Haven’t you yet learned that your body is the home of the Holy Spirit God gave you, and that he lives within you? Your own body does not belong to you.” If you’re viewing yourself only from the outside, only from what you can perceive in the flesh, only from your five senses, then you’re going to get discouraged real quick. You look at what the Bible says about you and then you look at yourself and you think… I don’t feel like I’m more than conqueror, I don’t feel like I’m healed, I don’t feel like I’m filled with peace, I don’t feel like.... well stop trying to “feel it” and believe it! You’re a man or woman of God and you’re FILLED with God within your inner man. Moreover, if you’re simply viewing your situation from the outside you can get discouraged quick again. But thank God you’re not JUST a man! You’re not just a woman! You’re not JUST a plumber, a accountant, a factory worker but you are a child of God and He lives in you. He has wisdom for the asking and its all within you because He is within you. So, to summarize, stop looking at yourself simply based on the flesh or the outward exterior.
If you’re born-again, then they have God living on the inside of you and there is more to you than meets the eye. The Holy Spirit lives with you. Depend upon His wisdom and life to meet your needs through the day. See yourself not as others see you but see yourself as God sees you in the spirit – as an more than a conqueror, healed, etc. If you’re a child of God, you have access to resources that the rest of the world does not. You are the temple of the Holy Spirit and you have power to overcome the world and any obstacle that life may throw at you. The greater one lives in

First, we are declared righteous before God. Paul says, “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom. 8:1). We no longer are condemned by our sin; instead, we are righteous before God because we are in Christ. Second, we live in the power and strength of Jesus Christ. Paul makes this clear when he says, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13). Paul struggled with a thorn in the flesh, and he asked God to remove it, but God responded and said His grace was sufficient. His power is made perfect in our weaknesses so that the power of Christ rests in us (2 Cor.
I still, to this day, do battle with the imaginary demons that were placed in my head as a child. My feelings of being unworthy sometimes surface, but more often than not I feel confident and free following my heart. I feel that God would much rather have me happy and spreading happiness than miserable and spreading misery. Christianity to me these days is just another institution set up by those few who want to take advantage and control the weak and tired majority. I can no longer live in fear, so I must stand up and refuse to listen to anyone claiming to know what’s best for me. My heart is my only true guide.
“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” Ephesians
“I have not come to judge the world, but to teach them in humility and to save them, and to create an example for my disciples, so that they will do as I do.”
Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process. You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success in earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science. Self Assessment is the first step in my successful future.
A reflection of the self is an important tool to use to figure out whether or not your self-concept provides you with a positive self-esteem. First ask yourself, ‘who am I?’ and once you figure that out, determine if your perception of yourself is a positive one. If it’s not positive, you might want to consider making a change very quickly in order to live a fulfilling life. An even more important tool is to compare your own self-concept to the perception others have of you. I interviewed four people and asked them three questions. Those questions were as follows. “How do you perceive me physically? How do you perceive me socially? How do you perceive me psychologically?” Their overall physical perception of me is, I am beautiful,
