In this project we will be learning how to watch stocks and about the stock market. The stocks I invested in were American Eagle, Amazon, Costco, Disney, Google, Netflix, Whirlpool, McDonald's, Apple, Walmart Tesla, Delta, Twitter, and Steel Dynamics, and Microsoft's. I chose Amazon as my Golden Stock. I chose Amazon because they are the largest internet based retailer and the stock price is always increasing so I decided to invest in it. Another Company that I invested a big chunk of money in was Tesla. Tesla was just coming out with a new car so the stock price was going to go up and I would make money off of it. I also invested in Whirlpool because it is a big appliance company that is doing well. I think that for the first half my …show more content…
For example, I did some research on Steel Dynamics(STLD) and found that it was a good steel company that was doing well. So I watched the price of STLD for a few days and found out when it was at its lowest and bought it then. If I could do this project over again I would do more research on Stocks and not just buy in the big companies that everybody knew about. I would have taken more of a risk and bought in smaller companies. I would have bought more companies like Steel Dynamics. Instead of buying mainly in big companies like: Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Google. Another thing I would have done was bought more in Google on the first day. I only bought two stocks in it so commision took a bigger chunk of money than if I would have bought more stocks. I have learned a lot about the stock market by doing this project. I understand it a lot more. The stock market is a very big risk and I am glad that I got to experience the stock market through a fake stimulation before I go and invest my own money in the stock market. If I ever did invest in the real stock market I would make sure to do a lot of research on the stocks that I may invest in so I don't lose
You would not buy a home, car or other large purchases without researching what product offered you the most for your money. The same is true when investing in a company. Investors do avid research on multiple companies to find what company matches the investors' criteria. In this paper Team C will research both AT&T and Verizon's financial documents. Team C will compare selected ratios, cash flow and make recommendations how both companies can manage cash flow for the future.

My conclusion is that the protagonist should buy more stock of Costco Wholesale Corporation as she concluded the company is growing at manageable rate without relying on debt or equity. They are with high sales or profit, low labor costs, and consistent growth. Costco seems to be a low risk stock that is performing well with long term stability for more
Before we invested, we decided to pick two types of companies to invest in. We would choose companies that had expensive stock but steady increasing prices and we would choose smaller companies that had cheaper stock but whom had a chance for potential huge price increases. If the smaller companies’ stock went down the bigger companies’ steadily increasing stock would even it out, but if the smaller companies’ stock price rose greatly, like we predict, we could sell and make a good profit. We found a big name company that had reliable stock prices pretty quick, but finding a small company whose stock price could rise was hard. We
The company, General Mills, for which I was assigned, proved to be a worthwhile investment researching since it contains a large portion of the market share of its “niche,” that being breakfast cereals and the like. In conducting the research necessary to find out if a potential investor might strike interest upon General Mills, we find out a myriad of things. By drawing our attention towards the spreadsheet, which contains the bits of information we need to infer conclusions, we can see the patterns that develop over a 5 or 10 year period involving such things as: stock price, EPS, ROI, and many others. The following will give some insight into the history of General Mills among other things.
Stock investment means you are purchasing a share of the company, therefore the company’s success determines the value of your investment. Buying stocks is not a difficult process; clarification of some important terminology and differentiation helps gives you the foundation to start investing.
On July 5, 2001, Kimi Ford, a portfolio manager at NorthPoint Group, a mutual-fund management firm, pored over analysts' write-ups of Nike, Inc., the athletic-shoe manufacturer. Nike's share price had declined significantly from the beginning of the year. Ford was considering buying some shares for the fund she managed, the NorthPoint Large-Cap Fund, which invested mostly in Fortune 500 companies, with an emphasis on value investing. Its top holdings included ExxonMobil, General Motors, McDonald's, 3M, and other large-cap, generally old-economy stocks. While the stock market had declined over the last 18 months, the NorthPoint Large-Cap Fund had performed extremely well. In 2000, the fund earned a return of
I have learned many things in this class, some of them have helped me in many other aspects as well. I have learned a lot about myself and about the aging, and I am assured that after completing this course, I have improved. I have started to feel that my world and my preparation for the world have also improved ever since I have taken this class. Taking this class has taught me different techniques to consider when dealing with aging. This topic was of great interest to me. I was surprised to learn that successful aging is a combination of physical and functional health, high cognitive functioning, and active involvement with society. It was interesting to learn that these factors could lead to a lower risk of disease and disability. As
For one of my selections for buying stock, I invested into Starbucks, this company has attracted me with their wonders of different coffees, and I knew many others were interested in the very popular coffee company. Starbucks all started in 1971 in Seattle, Washington. With three men, Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegel and Gordon Bowker, each of them put in one thousand three hundred and fifty dollars along with a barrowed five thousand from the bank to start up their small coffee shop in Pick Place Market, which is located in downtown Seattle. The name for this company was inspired by the character Starbuck from Moby Dick. This character was a coffee lover.
However, EMH has been the most controversial subject of research in the field of financial economics during the last 40 years. “Behavioural finance, however, is now seriously challenging this premise by arguing that people are clearly not rational” (Ross, (2002)). Behavioral finance uses facts from psychology and other human sciences to explain human investors’ behaviors. 2. What is the difference between a MAIN BODY A generation ago, it was generally believed that security markets were efficient in adjusting information about individual stocks and the stock market as a whole (Malkiel, (2003)).
We analyzed the market for two weeks to determine when the equity market would turn from a bearish to bullish market. Without a change in the market and a declining bond price, we decided to invest in equities according to our investment strategy, which brought us into the second phase of our portfolio. Therefore, at the beginning of February we bought shares in Sirius, Microsoft, Neon, Washington Mutual, and Nike. As assumed, the equity market continued to plummet decreasing the value of all our stocks except for our Gold Corporation stock.
I became an enthusiast of finance ever since I was at high school. At the political economy class, my teacher asked us: if you have a million RMB, how would you use it? She then introduced us the concept of investment, and I was intrigued specifically by the stock. For the latter two years of my high school, I have been reading books and articles regarding the stock market in the U.S. and in China. As one of the outstanding students ranked top 1% in College Entrance Exam in Hainan Province, China, I was accepted by the City University of Hong Kong with a full scholarship. With the strong interest in finance, I chose quantitative finance and risk management as my major.
experience the volatility of a stock on the stock market, like many other forms of investment do.
... stock fluctuations. If a financial advisor cannot be afforded, it would have been in the best interest of the investor to read more on the stock market news regarding what stocks were predicted to have a profitable growth. The investor could have stayed with energy and renewables, just cold have chosen different corporations then the ones chosen.
Respect is a learned behavior. As a child, my parents taught me that order for me to get the respect I want from others, I would have to treat them the way I would like to be treated. My parents said, “If you treat others wrong, then that’s the way they 'll treat you.” No matter if it 's a friend or coworker, everyone should be treated with respect. The workplace is where most people get treated unfairly. Maybe, you were the one being treated unfairly or you treated someone unfairly. In this case, I was the one being treated unfairly. Around the time a massive flooding surrounded some areas in Baton Rouge, La. Another facility that is a part ours because of the same management company transferred to our building. They join us at our facility because they’re building was going under water. Since they have been here for a few weeks, the management team has been trying to change things and make it more like their facility. I have been treated unfairly because I left my job to attend school to complete my financial aid, I was written up and I was on the verge of quitting.
