The History of General Mills The company, General Mills, for which I was assigned, proved to be a worthwhile investment researching since it contains a large portion of the market share of its “niche,” that being breakfast cereals and the like. In conducting the research necessary to find out if a potential investor might strike interest upon General Mills, we find out a myriad of things. By drawing our attention towards the spreadsheet, which contains the bits of information we need to infer conclusions, we can see the patterns that develop over a 5 or 10 year period involving such things as: stock price, EPS, ROI, and many others. The following will give some insight into the history of General Mills among other things. Tracing its history back to 1866, General Mills is one of America’s largest food companies, employing 10,000 people worldwide and generating over $5 billion in sales annually. Responsible for some of America’s best-known foods, General Mills manufactures and distributes such staples as Betty Crocker cake mix, Gold Medal flour, Bisquick pancake mix, Yoplait yogurt, and Popsecret popcorn. The company also manufactures breakfast cereals, including Cheerios, Trix, Lucky Charms, and Cocoa Puffs. Its common stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange using the ticker symbol GIS. General Mills's original name was the Washburn Crosby Company, which created legendary Twin Cities broadcaster WCCO. The founders of the Washburn Crosby Company included Congressman Cadwallader Colden Washburn. In 1990, General Mills and Nestlé started a 50/50 joint venture called Cereal Partners Worldwide to market breakfast cereals for both the United States and Europe. CPW distributes cereals manufactured by both companies under the Nestlé brand name. Just prior to that, in 1988, General Mills sold General Mills Specialty Retail Group, which was the parent company of both Eddie Bauer and Talbots. Eddie Bauer is now defunct. The company merged with Pillsbury in 2001. While many of the Pillsbury-branded products are still manufactured by General Mills, some products had to be sold off to allow the merger since the new company would have held a very strong monopoly position.

When hearing the name Kraft, the first thing to come to most people’s mind is cheese. Kraft, however, is a massive international company that owns and operates 30 different food and beverage brands. Ten of these brands accounts for more than $50 million of the company’s $18 billion in annual sales (“Our Mission”). Kraft products can be found in 98% of households in the US and 99% of households in Canada which allows the company to enjoy a position as one of the largest consumer packaged food and beverage companies in North America (Kraft Foods Group…, 2013, p. 1).
The Hershey Food Corporation is a very successful and quality business. Many products are manufactured by this corporation. Most relating, but not limited to chocolate. The corporation plays a role in deciding where products are produced. Hershey’s has expanded to both Canada and Mexico, which calls for many corporate decisions. There are an amazing amount of products associated with Hershey. These include Jolly Ranchers, Hershey Kisses, Hershey drink mixes, the entire line of Reese’s products as well as good old fashion chocolate bars. These products serve in the candy/snack foods division of sales. Society could do without them... but why would we want to?
In school you probably remember the “odd-balls” being picked on by the “cool kids”. Maybe they were being called offensive names or were being laughed at because of something they liked, if they looked or acted a certain way. Or possibly it was because of their religion. The truth of the matter is, people will use just about any reason to bully and use different methods when bullying. Questions that rise is what kind of bullying is there? How does it affect the person being targeted? How can we take a stand to stop bullying and ultimately, how can we help those who are being bullied? This essay will consider and answer these questions.

For one of my selections for buying stock, I invested into Starbucks, this company has attracted me with their wonders of different coffees, and I knew many others were interested in the very popular coffee company. Starbucks all started 1971 in Seattle Washington. With three men which were Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegel and Gordon Bowker each of them put in one thousand three hundred and fifty dollars along with a barrowed five thousand from the bank to start up there small coffee shop in pick place market, witch is located in down town Seattle. The name for this company was inspired from the character Starbuck from Moby Dick; this character was a coffee lover. There close friend designed there well known logo. These men never thought of this small company to get large they just thought of it as a small coffee shop. Out of all three men Siegel was the only one that work at it full time. The men depened on a man named Alfred Peet for there coffee beans but soon then started there own blends of coffee beans. With in a year opening the first store they were able to open a second store. When the 1980’s rolled around, it was a thriving company, in the Seattle area. However, the co-founders began to have other interests and were involved in other careers simultaneously. Despite that, the company was about to undergo a major turning point. A man by the name of Howard Schultz started to pursue an interest in the company. He noticed that the coffee shop had a wonderful environment. He started asking a questions and becoming more and more interested by every moment. He loved how the founders had so much knowledge on the coffee and each blend. In 1982, Schultz became director of retail operation. This was just the start to a new phase with the company.
In the first act, Polonius lectures Ophelia on her relationship with Hamlet, ultimately requesting that she no longer “slander any moment leisure” (1.2.133) on him. Although he does mention that he fears her actions would “tender me a fool”, it appears as though he is looking out for Ophelia’s best interest. This interaction between Ophelia and Polonius results in Ophelia granting her father’s desires, exhibiting the enormous amount of trust she instills in her father.
Grand Metropolitan PLC is the world’s largest wine and spirits seller. It mainly operated in London, USA. In 1991, it beats market expectation with a 4.8% increase in pretax profits, and the company Chairman stated that company’s goal “to constantly improve on”. Despite the great performance in the world recession in 1991, the price of GrandMet shares was 10% below the average price/earnings ratio of the companies in the Standard & Poor’s 500 index. And more important, rumors had that GrandMet, valued at more than $14 billion in the stock market, maybe a takeover target. The management dilemma is to understand why the company’s stock is traded below of what considered being the right price and whether the company is truly being undervalued by the market or there are consistent issues with negative NPV projects and lines of businesses.

In act one, scene three, Ophelia was not able to describe her feelings about Hamlet because Polonius kept insisting that Hamlet was not an acceptable man for her. He also believes Ophelia is misguided because he thinks she is naïve about what Hamlet intentionally wants which is just a sexual relationship, or as Polonius describes Hamlet’s plan, “unholy suits” (I, iii). Never, once, did Polonius consider to understand his daughter’s emotions because
Does her religious, ethnic, and family dynamic play a role in her decision to either return to work or not to work? Studying the disposition of African American, Hispanic, and Asian women can provide another look into how working mothers depict themselves as related to mainstream media and family.
