According to Steven Grosby who is the author of Nationalism A Very Short Introduction a nation is a tendency of humanity to divide itself into distinct, and often conflicting, groups (Grosby 1). I think the point that Grosby tries to make is his most people try to place their self into separate and different groups that help fit into a human group. If you look at from a sports perspective, yesterday we saw a nation of people gathering the streets of Boston to celebrate the New England Patriots Super Bowl victory. Another example of this would be the women march that took place a few weeks ago. We saw a nation of women marching in all major cities for protesting the newly inducted President Trump and they were trying to protect human rights, women rights, and other issues that they …show more content…

When such a belief about the nation becomes predominant it can threaten individual liberty. (Grosby 5). I do agree with Grosby definition of nationalism because I think nationalism is someone who shows to be very patriotic towards their own country and that willing do anything for the own country. Chapter three of Nationalism A Very Short Introduction by Steven Grosby starts off with the line that nations are human creations. I would agree with that since if you think about everything that was created start with a group of people, which would eventually become a nation of people. The social relation part of chapter three with how to connects with nation I found to be very interesting. The reason is that it talks about how when someone is born that person must find a nation to join in their lifetime.
