In 2002 he was the first balloonist to travel around the world alone. Meanwhile, in 2005 he was also the first person to fly airplane nonstop around the world. He flew the GlobalFlyer, a specific plane that had 13 fuel tanks and a 7 foot cockpit. He took off from Salinas, Kansas on February 28 and returned at around 67 hours later on March 3. On February 8, 2006, he took off from Canaveral, Florida and took on the longest airplane flight without stopping. But there is one person who stands out among this group of people, Charles Augustus Lindbergh. Charles Lindbergh was the first person to fly solo overseas, thus winning the Orteig Prize for his accomplishment. At the age of 13 of Benjamin O Davis Jr life on the summer of 1926, Davis went for a flight with a barnstorming pilot, however if you don’t know what a barnstorming pilot was they were a group of pilots that did tricks in the USA in the 1920, that stunt pilots would execute trick with airplane for entertainment. Many people have various definitions of what a hero is, and who they can be. Many times when thinking of a hero, you may think of a fictional one, such as Superman or Spider-man. When I think of a hero, I think of someone who has made an extraordinary impact on the world, something that perfectly describes Terry Fox. Terry Fox is a heroic figure whose legacy shall never be forgotten. Terry was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma when he was only 18, and had to have his leg amputated, which caused him to decide to make a difference in the world. Terry would run almost 42 kilometers each day, in hopes of running all across Canada in a marathon he named the Marathon of Hope.
