There are many artist who are using technology to create magical pieces of art since the technology became easily accessible to the public. These artist strive to use technology to create fascinating art pieces to show off competing against each other for the spotlight. After viewing a few of the artist in class and looking at their art, Stelarc’s art caught my attention. Stelarc uses technology in ways which I would not have thought, while incorporating it to actually make it into art. Stelarc has used the technology to create art which can make some viewers queasy, but does it in a way that makes it art and not just weird self-experiments. The beauty of Stelarc’s art, is that it ventures in to the medical felid or other similar fields which could better the world. By bettering the world, it means the technology in which he is using in his art, can be used for other purposes such as aiding the disabled. The disabled can benefit from his art by using the technology similar to what he exhibits. Stelarc was able to produce a mechanical arm in which it can be controlled with other muscles in the body allowing it to function just as well as a regular arm. Stelarc had an ear surgically implanted in to his arm, what makes this even more unusual is that the ear was grown in a lab. They grew an ear and implanted it under his arm, this is good for the medical field due to results they received. They are able to see how his body accepts the new flesh and what will happen, if his body somehow did not keep it alive properly due to not being located properly they would be able to use that for future reference, lucky his body was fine with accepting the piece and is still implanted

I observed a very unique series of photographs by Vik Muniz called Seeing is Believing. Vik Muniz’s images are not simply photography but are pictures of complicated pieces of art he has produced at earlier times. Utilizing an array of unorthodox materials including granulated sugar, chocolate syrup, sewing thread, cotton, wire, and soil Muniz first creates an image, sculpturally manipulates it and then photographs it. Muniz’s pictures include portraits, landscapes, x-rays, and historical images.
Like many other Postmodern artists, Mike Parr and Stelarc create confronting, shocking, bizarre artworks that provoke a gut reaction from their audience. Their performance pieces make use of few traditional skills, but instead place emphasis on a concept, require immense feats of endurance, and utilize modern technology.
Organisms are limited by the structure of their bodies. Some creatures are capable to do great things because of the number of limbs they have, or the density of their skin. Humans in particular are extremely reliant in the capabilities that our bodies bring to us. Our bodies however, are not all dependable, as we can injure ourselves, and even lose parts of our body. To combat this loss of body, the great minds of our species have created false limbs to replace what we have lost. This great improvement to our lives is known as, the prosthetic. Examining the formal qualities of Homer Watson’s painting Horse and Rider In A Landscape was quite interesting. I chose to analyze this piece as apposed to the others because it was the piece I liked the least, therefore making me analyze it more closely and discover other aspects of the work, besides aesthetics.
Though most works of art have some underlying, deeper meaning attached to them, our first impression of their significance comes through our initial visual interpretation. When we first view a painting or a statue or other piece of art, we notice first the visual details – its size, its medium, its color, and its condition, for example – before we begin to ponder its greater significance. Indeed, these visual clues are just as important as any other interpretation or meaning of a work, for they allow us to understand just what that deeper meaning is. The expression on a statue’s face tells us the emotion and message that the artist is trying to convey. Its color, too, can provide clues: darker or lighter colors can play a role in how we judge a piece of art. The type of lines used in a piece can send different messages. A sculpture, for example, may have been carved with hard, rough lines or it may have been carved with smoother, more flowing lines that portray a kind of gentleness.
Artists also use stenciling, creating stylized motifs and quickly completed multiple images on a support. These may be the basis for further painting and used as a template to place objects in a painting.

It is well known that in the past, Renaissance artists received their training in an atmosphere of artists and mathematicians studying and learning together (Emmer 2). People also suggest that the art of the future will depend on new technologies, computer graphics in particular (Emmer 1). There are many mathematical advantages to using computer graphics. They can help to visualize phenomena and to understand how to solve new problems (Emmer 2). “The use of ‘visual computers’ gives rise to new challenges for mathematicians. At the same time, computer graphics might in the future be the unifying language between art and science” (Emmer 3).
Many great inventions have been made through research in biomedical engineering, for example, genetic engineering, cloning, and insulin. After insulin has been invented, there are still a lot of problems with the purity and the quantity of the insulin produced. Biomedical engineering devised a way to produce large quantities of insulin with a higher level of purity, which has saved a lot of human lives. Although biomedical engineering just been officially founded 200 years ago, its practice has been with us for centuries. According to The Whitaker Foundation website, 3,000-year-old mummy from Thebes, which uncovered by German archeologists, with a wooden prosthetic tied to its foot to serve as a big toe is the oldest known limb prosthesis and Egyptian listen to the internal of human anatomy using a hollow reed, which is what today’s stethoscope. No matter what the date, biomedical engineering has provided advances in medical technology to improve human health. These advances by biomedical engineering have created a significant impact to our lives. I have determined to become a biomedical engineer. Biomedical engineering will have a good prospect because it will become one of the most important careers in the future.

From Mark Twain to Vincent van Gogh, each genre of art comes with its greatest master. There are many compelling arguments to why this specific artist, musician or writer is the best in their category. In modern days, we don’t have a Mozart, or a Hemingway or even an Andy Warhol. There are many good artists of their own kind and many more are emerging thanks to new technology and new forms of media art. However, many arguments are made as to why these forms of art aren’t considered true forms of art. A few years back and even today, many argue that digital paintings aren’t real art so it is not surprising when people don’t think of a video game as an art form, but it is. The world is at constant change and so is art.
Rush, in New Media and Paul, in Digital Art, both discuss the use of advance technology in the art world, from creating works using artificial intelligence to creating a virtual reality for the audience to be immersed into. After reading about projects such as If, Then created by Kenneth Feingold in 2001 or Giver of Names by David Rokeby, 1991-today viewers are left to question what the line is between technology and art. Where does one aspect end and the other begin, or does such a line exist anymore? Some may even argue that society has reached the point where one does not exist without the other.
Technology is important in our world today. Terry Tempest William’s “The Clan of One-breasted Women” is about women having breast cancer because of bomb testing from 1952- 1961 in Utah. In this case technology has a negative effect on the human race. On the other hand, “The Technology of Medicine” by Lewis Thomas is about money and the technology of medicine. There are three different levels of technology in medicine according to Thomas and they are “nontechnology,” “halfway technology” (582), and “technology of modern medicine” (583). It is obvious that technology benefits humankind with cures for diseases and prevention of sickness. Without technology, medicine would not be as advanced and there would not be as many medical procedures as there are today. By using technology, doctors have found out how to prevent certain diseases or viruses by immunizations. In fact, the human race needs to have technology to advance the medical field, as disclosed in Richard Selzer’s “Sarcophagus” about surgery, from the doctor’s point of view, showing all of the technology he uses during procedure. All these essays have examples on how technology benefits human kind. Therefore, technology is a friend of humankind, when used with restrictions, because it has made improvements in medicine and has proved its usefulness in hospitals.
