Steel Cut Oats Recipe
Oats are a natural gluten free whole grain. Oats can help rejuvenate and calm the nervous system, regulate weight and lower the level of cholesterol in the body. Steel-cut oatmeal has become a favorite breakfast option for many people. Steel-cut oats or pinhead oats are essentially chopped up whole grain oat goats. Preparing this dish takes a little bit of effort compared to cooking rolled oats, however, it is much more chewy flavorful. The time it takes to cook this dish is between 20 to 25 minutes, although there is the overnight cook method that you can also use.

The oatmeal recipe is prepared by adding all the flavor ingredients in a bowl of oatmeal to yield a single serving.

Ingredients:
• 1 serving of steel-cut oats
• 2tbs currants
• 2 fresh or dried prune pums, chopped and pitted
• ½ tbs walnuts
• Spices; pinch of nutmeg, ¼ tsp cinnamon and ¼ ginger
• 1 tsp cinnamon and pure maple syrup to garnish

Preparation:
1. Add a splash of milk on steel-cut oats and reheat over the stovetop. Add the spices and 1 tbs of currants and stir
2. Add nuts, chopped prunes and left over currants on top.
3. Drizzle sweetener and sprinkle some cinnamon.

5. Steel-Cut Oatmeal with mixed fruits
This meal will yield 5 servings.

Ingredients:
• ¼ tsp salt to taste
• 2 cups of water
• 3 tbs, dried fruit (cranberries, apricots or raisins)
• 1 cup, steel-cut oats
• 2 cups of low-fat milk
• 1 tsp unsalted butter
• 2 tsp brown sugar, maple syrup or honey
• Fresh fruit, diced apples and pears
