I would be honored to participate in this program due to the invaluable experience I will receive from SMU in Paris. The advantages from this program can be expressed in two groups: personal and academic. From a personal standpoint, I never thought I would have the opportunity to join a program such as this due to the lack of programs from the previous institutions I attended. When I transferred to SMU exactly one year ago, I began to learn about the extensive study abroad programs and listened to countless stories told by students who had personal experiences. I believe studying in Paris will give me many advantages.

Studying abroad is more than a trip for the scenery, it’s an opportunity that someone, like myself, would never imagine being able to be a part of. As a business administration major, I plan to use my degree to further the family-owned business my parents started. Their American Dream has become my goal to accomplish, with the help of my studies in Lunenburg, Germany, I will be able to learn how business works in a different country and different culture. At TAMUK, I proud myself in being a first-generation student, although I struggle through my own daily obstacles, I find time to focus on my studies and stay active through club soccer and golf. As rewarding as it is to be able to call myself a Javelina, studying abroad will help me find
The study abroad program I have chosen is CSU IP Spain: Learn Spanish. This specific program stood out to me because it allows me to capitalize on an opportunity to learn and develop spanish, while becoming fully immersed in the culture. Some factors that led to this decision were deciding to double major in Psychology and Spanish, as well as having a personal love for culture and travel. Educationally, I am hoping that my experience abroad allows me to establish fluency in spanish and a competence of the culture and history of Spain. I am also anticipating that my experience abroad will give me new perspectives on understanding different people, which furthermore impacts my studies in psychology and my intended career choice.
