“The true method of knowledge is experiment.”- said by a famous English poet William Blake. I, Sakil Ahmed Chowdhury could not agree more with this quote. Thus my ultimate goal to become a prominent researcher in the field of “Power Systems” makes Michigan Technological University my first choice for graduate studies as it provides incredible research prospects to all the students. The presence of copious exceptional faculty members in the field of Electric Power Systems with research interests allied with my own provides an added impulse to apply at MTU. My academic career has always propelled me, in the sense that each time I accomplished an academic excellence I was induced to go for another. After finishing high schools with impressive results, I was animated to choose “Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering” as undergraduate major due to my incessant enthusiasm in mathematics and physics. Also the booming telecom industries at that time and the prospect of establishment of R&D of several world-renowned Electronics companies like- Samsung Electronics in Bangladesh influenced the decision greatly. The excellent undergraduate program at the North South University not only provided me with a strong foundation of Telecommunication Engineering, but also accustomed me to various fields of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. The decision was greatly backed by my consistent and sublime academic performance throughout the undergraduate studies. I was among the top 15 students in my department with a CGPA of 3.72/4.0. Besides academic activities, various extra-curricular affairs are also a major highlight of my undergraduate life. My involvements in “NSU Wireless Forum” not only helped me to remain updated about the ... ... middle of paper ... ...gigantic multinational company. I was also very excited by my pay-check and the great feeling of being independent. My management skills and leadership qualities flourished by excellent training programs arranged by the company. However with time, I realized the monotonous nature of the job and also the opportunities to learn something new became sparse. I always wanted to be involved in something where my skills will grow through facing innovative challenges. At that moment, I discussed my situations with Rashedul Hasan, who was the supervisor in my undergraduate thesis work. Rashedul Hasan has always been my most favorite teacher and mentor for his teaching style and in-depth content knowledge. He reinforced my ambition for higher studies not only to satisfy the thrust of learning but also to explore new dimensions of life from the experience of studying in USA.
