The importance of starting over Why is it important to start over? Well starting over helps me to make better choices and it erases all the things we do not approve. Let me just say I am writing an essay and I see that I have made a mistake or I can make things better in my essay. This is a perfect chance for me to just start over and make that a draft so I can get good ideas from it and still make an even better paper. When we start over half of it is because we come up with better choices and decide to start over and make something better than the last time we did it. For example when I said that I found a better way to make the essay better I started over and changed it. The same goes for when my team loses we can start over and have
the motivation to win the next game and do better. But we can also have no motivation and not make the right choices and also lose the next game. So it would probably be better to start over and forget all about it. The other important half of starting over is so we can erase all the things we do not approve. When the New Year begins we forget all the bad things and focus on the year coming up by going to God for help so we can make better choices and make up for the past year. Acts 3:19 says, Repent therefore, and turn again, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the lord. This means that when we get in trouble with are parents or fight we are siblings we can ask God for forgiveness so he can clear our hearts just like starting over. Starting over is really important, and without it I would not be able to fix mistakes that I don’t approve and I will never get to make things better when I want to start over. Also remember another thing you can do and is most important is to go to God for help and he will start you over away from sin.
The chapter “Revising” taken from the book, originally published in 2006, Rewriting: How to Do Things with Texts, was written by Joseph Harris, an English professor who teaches at the University of Delaware. The chapter in his book that is titled “Revising,” suggests techniques and approaches to apply when revising one’s work and tackles common misconceptions on revision. Harris defines revising as, “ rethinking, refining, and developing” a piece of work ( 441). He uses these three words to encompass the importance and complexity of one word: revision.
The first day we got there we had started off so wrong by arguing. We weren’t doing well and we argued most of the time. Us as a team, we honestly made ourselves look bad in front of the coordinators and other teams that were watching us. The coaches had given us a real big pep talking about sticking together as a team to make us better. Although we didn’t think we needed it, it actually
To continue on there are always two options, just give up or keep on pushing until the goal has been reached. The people that decide to just quit most likely have a fixed mindset, while the people that don’t give up have a growth mindset. Eduardo Briceno discusses that when obtaining a growth mindset, setbacks don’t take a toll on the person, they will continue to press on until the goal has been reached. Briceno’s point is that when you realize that anything is possible, then you bring yourself to new levels. Overall having a growth mindset allows people to complete any realistic goal that they
“If at first you don’t succeed try , try again.” At the age of six I was starting to play football. The game was a hard hitting running and commitment. I was six years old at the time now I’m fourteen a freshman in high school a lot has changed.
In the beginning of English 101 I was what you call a novice writer a person who only wrote what they felt was required. However, certain techniques that I learned in English 101 made me realize that writing was not about filling requirements; it’s about speaking out, exploring and proving a point. “Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go.” (Trimble, 17) In John Trimble’s quote he tries to point out that writing is something that you grow with and learn as you go along. I believe this growth was achieved with a technique that was introduced to me by my professor called repetitive revision. What I found out was that revision of your essays helps in recognizing your mistakes and enhances the flow of your essays. By providing me...
According to Donald M. Murray in The Makers Eye: Revising Your Own Manuscripts “A piece of writing is never finished”. Before this class, I didn’t really revise my essays
People have said that to succeed, you must first fail. I didn’t really understand this until failure became so present in my life. In the beginning, my team was losing game after game, and getting knocked out of tournament after tournament. It was hard to keep playing on a team that was struggling so much. “Hang in there guys. We’re
Although many people put a huge influence on winning, many if not more put more of an influence on losing, or trying not to. Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing –Vince Lombardi –.
...es also learn how to cope with winning and losing. A team is a group of individual players trying to be the best that they can be. “Win with class, lose with dignity.” “Don’t get too high when you win and don’t get too low when you lose.” These are some of my favorite sayings. Did you know that children who play sports can cope with frustration easier than children who don’t play sports? My volleyball coach, Ms. Brink, told the team that “Whenever you make a mistake, don’t dwell on it. Move on.”
This meant it was time to start. Our team said a prayer, and then headed for the starting line. As I approached the starting area, I saw the opposing team. They were tall, big, and muscular. I could see the seriousness on their faces. They came to run, and they came to win. My conscience suddenly started to play games with my mind, and I started asking myself questions. “What if I didn’t train hard enough? “What if I am not ready? What if we lose?”
I enjoy journaling my thoughts and also taking photographs to remember specific events and then later sitting and relaxing while savoring the past. I believe it gives me strength in the moment to push forward with increased vigor. This would be a good strategy for coaches to use with athletes. Photographs, videos, and news articles could be used from previous years to help the athlete remember the “good things” that they had accomplished and achieved. They could savor the past by comparing statistics and goal completion, for example. This could facilitate an increase in intrinsic motivation and increased vigor to have that deep satisfying feeling again in
Before we actually start the fighting out on the field. We have to go through one more tiny little task. We have to get assigned to a team first. In retrospect is a very important part of the game. Considering it decides whether you will end up winning or losing. It also determines who's going to shoot at you, and who's not. In my personal opinion I like to go on the losing team sometimes unless it’s a complete blowout. If your losing a little bit, it is more challenging of a task. Which is always a lot more exciting in the
Chances make people who they are. It is known that all people make mistakes, do things that are wrong by the outlook of society, and are left up to "second chances". This could be a blessing or a curse. Blessings for the people who use their chance for the better, and to advance from the loss, to make up for lost ground, and regain a grip on life. Some will grow mentally and go on to help others who are headed down the wrong path. It 's saving others from taking the loss, or from putting loss in others ' lives. One can never know what they have until it 's gone due to mistakes. From someone to convert one’s mind from the negative and turn it positive is a blessing and without a second chance there would never be the opportunity to shine.
Our first games of the season were all wins. The whole team and everyone in the organization was having so much fun. Our whole team had one thought on our mind when we started 6-0. That thought was to be holding the championship trophy at the end of the season. The team knew it was something they could probably achieve, and that if we did not achieve it, it would probably be a big disappointment. Our team this year was very talented. For this season, we had one guy who was as tall as a 6 foot 4 tree. He did not play much, but he provided us the size needed when he did
I learned the importance of making several drafts for one paper. Every writer can always make improvements because a paper is never perfect on the first draft. At least three drafts should be made before submitting. Secondly, it is important for ideas to be organized. One idea should smoothly transition into the next for the reader to easily understand the author’s arguments. Thirdly, it is helpful to have others give corrections on the student’s paper. Asking the professor or peers for critiques allows to see possible errors and ways to make the paper
