Neoliberalism is known as a philosophy of politics whose believers supports, free trade, open markets, deregulations, privatization and improving private sectors in todays society. Purpose of this philosophy was to hopefully avoid an economic failure like the one in the 1930s. Neoliberalism requires the state to participate positively by creating infrastructures, privatizing industries. Privatizations refer to the distribution of state-owned industries to become privately owned. Privatization can occur in many ways including buyouts, sales from stock market, or selling vouchers. In Canada some examples of privatization includes Petro Canada, Canadian National Airway, Ontario Hydro, Telus etc. Privatizing a industry would mean more job opportunities and greater revenue. Therefore, the Ontario Works Act purpose is to create a program that recognize responsibility and promote self-reliance, provide financial assistance, and serve the public. The standard employment relationship outlines the nature of the relationship between the employee and the employer, regarding the employment. One of the first points is assuming that the employment is full time, and the employee has one employer. Second, is concerning the place of work, the employee must have a physical workplace. And finally that the employment will continue for unfixed period or time or permanent, meaning an employment contract. Being involved in a Standard Employment Relationship has many advantages for the employee; they are entitled to extras such as, paid holiday, sick leave, and health benefits, as well as being protected by the labor legislation. Sex Segregation in the Work Place In the article “Sex Segregation at Work: Persistence and Change” by Anastasia Prokos explores ideas around the challenges and reasons of sex segregation in the work place. Due to various countries initiatives to shrink the wage inequality between men and women wages in the work force, the gap has narrowed, respectively, which may have helped form such opinion. However, stating that the gender pay gap does not exist in today’s society, anywhere, is completely unlikely. Seeing that the gap has loosened its grasp in the working world, in other countries, the gap between pay has widened or remained stagnant. One cannot help but wonder why the gap remains consistent, even with such substantial progress made in countries where the gap has decreased. Reasons as to why gender wage gap exist so heavily, slightly differs from country to country, but the overall effect from the wage disparity is wholly evident.
The relationship between employer and employees plays a pivotal role in the performance of the organization. Employers and employees have certain responsibilities towards each other which facilitate a fair and productive workplace. It can be concluded that women are treated in terms of stereotyped impressions of being the lowest class and greater evidence can be found that there are large disparities between the women and the men 's class. It can be seen that women are more likely to play casual roles as they are most likely to take seasonal and part time work so that they can work according to their needs. They are hampered from progressing upward into the organizations as they face problems like lack of health insurance, sexual harassments, lower wage rates, gender biases and attitudes of negative behavior. However, this wouldn’t have hampered the participation of the women in the work force and they continue to increase their efforts which is highly evident in the occupational and job ratios of females in the industry.
