Throughout history, many universal religions have spread throughout the world. From cities to cities, countries to countries and so on. Both Christianity and Buddhism originated from one person and went on to spread rapidly and become two of the most well known religions. In both religion conflicts led to the religion to spread even more. A series of events led to the early and the quick spread of Christianity and Buddhism throughout the early world. As turmoil engulfed the Jews in Judea, Christianity arose. The teaching of Christianity began with a Jew named Jesus. This was essentially due to the fact that Rome was in a time of corruption and “The Messiah”, stated that it was a good thing, because he prophesied that once the world ended suffering would be over too. Christians began to travel along Roman roads which was protected by Roman fleets. As persecution began to occur, it brought even more converts. Others began to observe Christians willingness to die for their religion and led to Christianity spreading even more. This caused a significant decrease in the spread of Buddhism. Later a new type of Buddhism arose called “Mahayana Buddhism”. It started around the 1st Century BCE and was completely different from the older version of Buddhism. It was much more successful in spread due to the “Bodhisattva”. The Bodhisattva was someone who already achieved Nirvana. Bodhisattvas were people who chose to remain in the cycle of reincarnation and help them achieve Nirvana. Now more people had hope and had someone to help them on the road to achieve Nirvana and no longer had to bear this tough task amongst themselves. Mahayana Buddhism began to spread rapidly throughout India in Afghanistan and Central Asia, and in China, Tibet, Mongolia, Vietnam, and landed in Korea and Japan.
