Humans live in a world rich of abundant elements and ideas that make each and every one of us identify ourselves part of particular groups. Our beliefs, ideas, religions, languages, as well as many other elements become the core of these groups. These groups are what we refer to as culture. Throughout history we have seen that many elements have spread throughout the world due to historic events and thus have influenced other cultures. Geographers know this as cultural diffusion. The constant mixing of global cultures through the spread of religion and language has increased more so with the advancements in communications and technologies.

It is considered to be a proselytic faith because it is determined to constantly seek and convert people. Through its active conversion of new members, the religion expands and seeks out for more people. The hearth of Christianity comes from southwestern Asia, where they are influenced by the patriarch known as Abraham. Christianity began in southwestern Asia and worked its way through the Old World. The spread of Christianity is shown in figure 7.14 page 245 of The Human Mosaic. The figure shows the origin of Christianity, which is Jerusalem, and shows the spread of the religion. Judaism is the founding religion of Christianity. They both share elements such as the Torah ( the Old Testament), prayers and components of the Bible. Christianity has become divided into many different smaller sections since its founding. The major sections from this division are Protestants, Roman Catholics, and Eastern Christians. Roman Catholics and Protestants were both discovered in Rome and the surrounding Latin-speaking areas. Christianity, in search of new members, spread itself out through western Europe and successfully converted people. The Eastern Christians influenced the Greek. The 1400s and 1500s were times of religious reformation. The Western Christianity found itself divided once again due to the beginning of Protestantism during the Reformation. Like religion, language is also brought along with cultural groups when they migrate. Language is a system of communication that is composed of symbols which are used to speak or write expressions. Language has become the key to expansion such as development and economic growth. Lingua francas are languages accepted worldwide as the preferred language of communication for commerce use. They are not necessarily the mother tongue of the specific location, the lingua francas are ones recognized by most to be the universal languages for communication and economical purposes. Arabic, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, Chinese, and Russian are considered linguas francas. Language is classified by word choice, methods of pronunciation, grammar use, and speech pace. Language families analyze and evaluate the diversity and diffusion of a certain Language. Language families are groups of languages said to be related and sharing the same ancestor. The Indo-European language family is the largest, most spread family. It is spoken in every continent and is commonly seen in Europe, North/South America, Russia, Australia, and sections of Asia and India. Subfamilies of the Indo-European family such as Romance, Iranic, and Germanic are divided once more into individual languages. English comes from the Germanic subfamily which is part of the English subgroup. Our language is then part of the American subgroup with further divides
As discussed in World Geography class, the world has become more globalized in the modern world due to the expansion of the internet and transportation for easier travel to areas of the world. Through the internet and tourism, the spread of more populous languages grows. According to the Globalization and Diversity textbook, through globalization, smaller cultures have a hard time catching up with the rest of the world; thus, these cultures must adapt to the dominate culture. The Tuvan, Aka, and Seri cultures cannot compete with English, for example, as the numbers of English speakers are significantly higher. In a world of globalization, the need for a common language, or lingua franca, is important for numerous cultures to
The spread of Christianity overtime replaced the old warrior religion changing the way of life, and at the giving it new meaning. With the coming of Christianity a hope for poets also came about. As the conversion of Ireland to Christianity took place a new era known as Ireland's Golden Age began to take over. Christian munks worked hard preserving literature of the ancient world and works of popular culture. Due to the rapid growth of Christianity the Anglo-Saxon's were given a common faith, a common system of morality and right conduct, linking England with Europe.
Christianity borrows many aspects from Judaism. The Old Testament Hebrew Scriptures were used in the early teachings, however the Christian believers interpreted the scriptures in a different manner. This interpretation leads to a fundamental shift in ideology between Jews and Christians. In addition to scripture, Christianity adopted many worship rituals practiced within the Jewish synagogue; such as prayers, baptisms, and communion. Christianity of today still practices these sacred ritu...
The first Christian Church (the Orthodox Church) came to be in the Late Roman Empire because of Jesus of Nazareth, and the first Christian Emperor Constantine. The messages Jesus wanted to reach his disciples were this: brotherhood, equality, elevation of the poor, and anti-materialism. He preached a lifestyle that changed mankind, and gave people hope. Jesus gave the people of the Late Roman Empire some hope, and guided them through times of need. On the other hand you have the Catholic Church in Medieval Europe, with a lot of power in the medieval society. The Catholic Church was the western counterpart the Eastern Orthodox Church and it slowly became a very strict religion. Their mission was simple: faith+good works=salvation. Religion over 2000 years ago was almost more important then, than it is today. It was new, and it was important, the rise of Christianity played a central role in the early historical
Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz. Did you know that bee numbers are decreasing? Bees are extremely important, but they might go extinct, so we need to save them. One reason is all the important foods that honey is in. The next reason is that lots of crops would not grow without bees.
The single most important aspect of European empires, beginning just prior to the fall of Rome, is the spread of Christianity to all areas of the continent in as little as a few hundred years. Many theologians state that Christianities spread is the indirect influence of God and the adoration of people to one true faith. Though it is true that Christianity has brought about people that even atheists could call saints, it is unquestionable that Christianity was so monumental because it united larger groups of people and its spread is contributed to adherence to local customs and its lack of new ideas in comparison to other religions of the day.
Christianity is a religion that is extremely prevalent in many people’s lives today and is extremely. It has roots that date back to around the first century CE. Christianity is based off the life and oral teachings from Jesus of Nazareth within the New Testament (Christianity Origin Online). Within this paper, I will explain to you exactly how Christianity influenced the Roman society in a great deal of ways, politically, culturally, and religiously. I will also elaborate on how the Roman culture further shaped the ideas of Christianity and continued spreading the teachings of Christianity to Western Europe. Lastly, I will explain Augustine’s views on God and how he views the Christian faith.
Anthropologists define the term culture in a variety of ways, but there are certain shared features of the definition that virtually all anthropologists agree on. Culture is a shared, socially transmitted knowledge and behavior. The key features of this definition of culture are as follows. 1) Culture is shared among the members of that particular society or group. Thus, people share a common cultural identity, meaning that they recognize themselves and their culture's traditions as distinct from other people and other traditions. 2) Culture is socially transmitted from others while growing up in a certain environment, group, or society. The transmission of cultural knowledge to the next generation by means of social learning is referred to as enculturation or socialization. 3) Culture profoundly affects the knowledge, actions, and feelings of the people in that particular society or group. This concept is often referred to as cultural knowledge that leads to behavior that is meaningful to others and adaptive to the natural and social environment of that particular culture.
Christianity has the largest population worldwide and has been able to continue to develop over the centuries. “Christianity is the name given to a religion based on the first century CE life and ministry of Jesus”. His followers claimed Jesus to be “The Jewish Messiah”, a person sent to the people of Israel to bring salvation and hope. However, during the first century, Christianity spread throughout the regions controlled by the Roman Empire and as Jesus’ followers began to separate from Judaism they established this living religion. Thus, the core foundation of Christianity is based on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, which can be found today in the Bible.

The faith of Christianity reflects the process of globalization as it trends throughout the different cultures of the world. Geographically widespread, Christianity has no continental center and is constantly being transferred between cultures. The expansion of the faith was largely because of missionaries and colonialism. As individuals traveled and colonized across the four corners of the world, they sought new members to join Christianity. Their success allowed the religion to take root in cultures across the world.
The major languages of the family include French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian, all national languages. Catalan also has taken on a political and cultural significance; among the Romance languages that now have less political or literary significance or both are the Occitan and Rhaetian dialects, Sardinian, and Dalmatian (extinct), among others” (Britannica.com). This quote from the Encyclopedia Britannica explains briefly what the pronounced Romance languages (because of their ties to the language of the Roman people) are. Those languages have also inspired their own dialects of the original Latin. Even English, a language which is mostly considered Germanic, has very similar structure and vocabulary to Latin, which did influence the creation of English.
Language is a medium of communication and a carrier of culture because all that people know about their origin is communicated to them using language. In most cases mother tongues are suitable in expressing ones way of life. The native language is the best in expressing basic societal affairs. Language is the key medium of communication and it should be used in its simplest form because the simpler the language the easier the communication (Diyanni 633-639).
The Modernization of Christianity With over two billion adherents, Christianity is by far the largest religious group on the planet, and the religion has gone truly global over the past century. Europe was the clear center of Christianity one hundred years ago, but today Christians are spread out throughout the world, everywhere from the United States to Brazil to Ethiopia to China. Many people believe that Christianity would not have thrived or even survived this long had it not been for the modernization and the transformation of the religion throughout its history. Throughout the two thousand year time span that Christianity has existed, there have been countless social changes, historical figures, and technological developments that have
