The Spratly Islands are a group of island in the South China Sea. These islands were first colonized by the French from the early 1900’s until 1939 when Japan took advantage of their preoccupation in WW2 to take the islands. However, Japan put the Islands under the administration of Taiwan. China claims that Taiwan is a territory, under the One China policy, and the whole region should be theirs. To protect their claims, China has built military bases on man-made islands. The presence of military bases has the potential to start a global war. China has a Communist government, meaning the entire country is ruled by a single political party that enforces their agenda. China is a unitary state. It is more likely that the state’s economic and military
First, if the CCP recognizes Taipei as an independent state, the CCP risks losing it bargaining power over the decisions and actions taken in regard to the island. A country’s bargaining power is the strength of a states claim over the disputed territory. A decline in this power mea...

In the article "Island Civilization: A vision for human occupancy of earth in the fourth millennium" a very good point was made about how humans are not treating the earth with respect, however our generation still has a chance to turn the earth from cancerous to healthy.
“Men in suits and bow-ties and smart hats, dark scruffy coats with hand-knitted scarves”. This is a fascinating and emotional quote told by the characters Hortense, a very strong mannered Jamaican woman who arrives in the city of London for the first time to pursue her dream as a teacher. The quote briefly covers most parts of the story in the book Small Island, because it sketches a picture of England between 1948 and de situation before the wars, when the Jamaican immigrants were arriving in England. The unexpected welcoming shows the disparity between the white and black people. This was her first impression of the English people. Moreover, with this quote she describes the differences between their living conditions and income to their own small Island Jamaica. Hortense, was also experiencing a major racial prejudice in Britain. The book gradually ends with how the war changed the British society. This is an emotional and at the same times a fun book that made me smile. Andrea Levy, makes the readers sympathize with the Jamaican characters, because these people who dream of seeing the larger world and relocate to England were counting on a better life, but unfortunately this was too good to be true. The book is quite appealing, because the characters in the book are confronted with various challenges for instance, racial issues, gender issues and colonialism. Furthermore, the book has multiple themes. It is a story about slavery, friendship, loyalty, race, love, displacement and empire. Therefore, Small Island is definitely a novel worth reading.
In the First Sino-Japanese War in 1895, China at the time confronted impending risk of being parceled and colonized by colonialist powers...
Rizzo Island is right in the Gulf of Maine, where the capital city of Megatropolis is located at 43°"N -68°”W. It is in the North-Western hemisphere, on the East side of the Atlantic Ocean. It is considered a part of North America and is South of Maine, and West of Nova Scotia. People here have no specific religion, and mostly speak French and English. The flag is rectangular with a giant lobster on it. The reason for this is because lobster is the main money source for Rizzo Island.
Oak Island is a small island located off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. This island holds a big mystery. According to expert Joe Nickell, Oak Island has been called ¨ the world's longest and most expensive treasure hunt.¨ It is also one of the world's deepest archeological digs. There are a lot of events that have happened on the island that have led up to what we know today. Six people have already died looking for the treasure, but the legend says seven must die before the treasure can be found. Since more is being found on the island than ever before, many people think the risk is worth the reward.

I came to the conclusion that Langston was writing about te struggle to freedom for blacs. Lanston Hughes wrote about racism often in his poems, and this particular poem seems to follow that pattern. Hughes gives the feeling of loneliness and dismay at the fact that he is not considered equal to white people. The poem represents the struggle for freedom and to be considered equal. The speaker conveys a feeling of sadness and loneliness in the tone of their voice, as stated in the opening sentence of the poem.
China sees Taiwan as part of its territory awaiting eventual reunification since they split at the end of the civil war in 1949 and has regularly threatened to invade if the island moves towards formal independence.

Going On a Cruise? Make it Royal Caribbean The amount of advertisements are infamous, every cruise line wants people to believe that they are the best, and they usually get them to take the bait by flashing a simple number but what happens is people forget to read the fine print. They ignore the important information at the bottom of the commercial screen, and this is why so many people end up wasting money on a vacation getaway that was sub-par and not really worth all the money and the hassle. So the key question is, which cruise line really is the best?
Given these sets of circumstances, china, Taiwan and United States have much to gain and even more to lose if an armed conflict erupts in the Taiwan Strait. All three countries have political, economic, and national security issues involved and united states and china are both in competition economic...
...of Taiwan in the event of a PRC invasion. One may argue that the People’s Republic of China is not yet ready to enter into a direct confrontation with the US. The second obstacle that precludes a PRC invasion of Taiwan is the absence of a littoral fleet capable of making a sustained assault on Taiwan. With the Taiwanese army firmly entrenched in the Pescadores and on the islands of Quemoy and Matsu, an amphibious assault on Taiwan would be akin to swallowing a “poison shrimp.” The third, and perhaps most important, obstacle that precludes a PRC invasion of Taiwan is stigma attached to the employment of nuclear weapons. It is highly unlikely that the PRC would be willing to use nuclear weapons against other Chinese.
In the review article, “Equilibrium Theory of Island Biogeography and Ecology”, Simberloff (1974) described how the equilibrium hypothesis can be used to explain island biogeography. According to the author, islands offer significant scientific, economic, evolutionary, or ecologic importances due to their unique characteristics (isolation, insular depauperization). However, detailed study on the somewhat puzzling island biogeography is limited. Therefore, Simberloff (1974) provided an in-depth research on the evolution of the island biogeography from an idiographic discipline to nomothetic science.
