The two different types of newspapers are tabloid and broadsheet. Broadsheet newspapers tend to be bigger in size and have more complex types of sentences. It has fewer pictures unlike a tabloid with the ratio of picture to text 7:10.Tabloids are the most popular type of paper; it is often smaller in size, more colourful and relies on page three girls and other such shock tactics, to attract readers. The tabloids are written in more of a less formal English way and have more opinions than facts, which tell us more about who the audience are of this particular type of newspaper. The tabloids also have more advertisements in them and are less intellectual than broadsheets. The tabloids also have pinups, which also tell us more about the audience. In my opinion, many people that read newspapers would probably find tabloids more interesting than broadsheets in my opinion. In some cases it depends on what job u have. For example, if you were a builder you would be more interested in the pinups and the sports. Or if you were a business manager you would be more interested in looking up the shares and seeing how businesses are going. The broadsheets tend also to have more facts than the tabloids.
I would expect the tabloids to cover more sport because many of the readers are into sport and the pinups and some just buy it to see the last football matches results. The tabloid covers a wider range of sports from darts to football. Some of the broadsheets readers appreciate this little bit of information given to them of sport

I also think they have only employed one or two women to write for their newspapers so people dont think that the newspapers are being sexist when i personally think they are. Sometimes women are feautered in newspapers but more in a sexist way rather than a informative way. I think they just put a picture in of a women to excite the readers which are mostly men. The broadsheet newspapers are less sexist than the tabloids but does have some form of sexism sometimes in it. The tabloids use women as sex symbols in the newspapers more than broadsheets to excite their readers. An extract from an article in a newspaper says "relax boys,the luscious Anna Kournikova is still on the prowl at wimbledon." This shows how women are used more as sex symbols in newspapers rather than sportswomen. There is also an article and a picture on a tennis player but this time a man. It is of Mark Philippoussis and says things like"Hunk Rating:1" Even though there is a man used as a sex symbol it is one of a few. It is not often men are used as sexy symobls in newspapers. Do you think media coverage of the National Football League is fair? The media has been interfering with players personal life and it is not ok. Such as the incident with Johnny Manziel, Jerry Rice, and Adrian Peterson. Johnny Manziel committed domestic violence against his girl friend, Jerry Rice punched his girlfriend, and Adrian Peterson committed child abuse. In addition to those crimes there have been many more. These issues have all dealt with law breaking, and media tells the public. This is interfering with player careers, it’s putting pressure on the NFL, and also affecting many youth football leagues. The media coverage of the NFL’s problems is not fair because the NFL has bigger problems to worry about, players are leaving teams, and parents are not letting there kids play football.
Has there ever been a sporting event without some sort of logo, sign, or advertisement? These are all forms of sports marketing and they are the publicity that many companies thrive off of. Sports marketing is a necessary and booming industry that has evolved in the past years. In the article, “Overview of Careers in Sports Marketing,” the author discusses the skills and experience needed for beginners and those looking for low-key entry level sports marketing jobs. Along with the typical list of necessary attributes, if an individual wants to hold a specific more serious position in sports marketing the author of the article “Career and Professional Development: Sports Marketing” explains some of these positions and companies. Mihai Alexandru provides information on how to actually plan and organize specific marketing elements like commercials, advertisements, etc. in his article, “The Strategic Sports Marketing Planning Process”. No matter what, if a person wants to become more in the sports marketing industry they can climb their way up to work with highly successful companies and individuals. Jordan Powell’s article, “From Team Sports to Moto: Matt Piva’s Journey Into The Industry”, introduces a kid named Matt Piva who followed his dream to become the Motocross Marketing Manager and everything he does while sports marketing for individual athletes and events. Red Bull is another company that someone can work for in order to have a job in the sports marketing industry. Media affects everyone and everything; There is no escape. Media is everywhere and surrounds everything. Henry Jenkins and Marshall McLuhan have differing points of view as to what the meaning of media is. They both, however, have their particular ponits which they describe well. Jenkin's talks about the different types of cultures that exist, focusing on popular culture, in his essay, "What Everyone Should Know About Popular Culture.
I have choosen to use th XFL as a marketing vehicle for my energy/supplement bar. The XFL has been able to position itself as a fast paced hardcore football league. The nature of the leage would compliment the nature of my product in that people will assosiate my product with the action on the field. The league is focusing on a younger active audience and that is the same target market that I am looking to reach with my product. The high awareness and anticipation for the league makes this an ideal time for my product to be introduced to the market.

Every item on a shelf has been planned” (Paco Underhill). In the articles, “The Science of Shopping” by Malcolm Gladwell and “How Target Knows What You Want Before You Do” by Charles Duhigg, these authors exemplify effective marketing strategies which were composed by Paco Underhill and Andrew Pole. Underhill is an environmental psychologist; additionally he employs the basic idea that one’s surroundings influences ones behavior and invented structuring man-made environments to make them conducive to retail purposes.
A common perception about a cheerleader is that their sole role in sports is to chant and encourage teams that are playing on the field from the sidelines or stands of a game. However, towards the end of the 20th century, cheerleaders have taken on more of an active role. Cheerleaders take part in competitions against other schools based on the skills they acquire throughout the season. States like Virginia, Michigan, and Georgia have officially recognized cheerleading as a sport and have included the activity as a part of each state’s respective league. However, there are many more states that have not yet considered cheerleading a sport. Cheerleading has two facets, competition and sideline. While competitive cheer may require more athleticism and skill than sideline cheer, one should consider cheerleading as a sport due to its need of athleticism and training, its role in stabilizing and promoting social norms, and the competitive nature between teams for the goal of winning.

Gender bias in media is a problem with multiple different aspects. Statistics show that 40% of all athletes are women, but they receive just 4% of media coverage (The Statistics). Secondly, a recent analysis found that of 6,503 sports photos taken by national newspapers, only 78 were of females (Media Coverage). What are the reasons toward such uneven coverage? Females participating in athletics get more attention to their physical appearance than their actual ability to perform the sport. Athletes that are not considered appealing or attractive are commonly disregarded and forgotten by the media. In addition, female athlete’s are often compared to male athletes in their same sport, and ignored for their real ability because not as impressive as their male counterparts (Low Female). For years, women have not only been fighting equal treatment and coverage, but also discrimination and sexism. Media’s coverage of female athlete’s is a problem that can be solved by closer to equal coverage in the press, and more attention on actual ability than physical appearance.
When it comes to women's sports and popularity in the 21 century it has been little progress made toward gender equality for woman sports, now in the 21 century more kids and adults know who some of these females athletes are but as far as media coverage goes for female athlete are in the shadows of the male athletes dominance and the tradition that males developed in sport due to what gender establish athletics first, because women sports were brought up years after men athletics had been established.

Every individual's unique and distinctive interests, goals, experiences, values, education, and skills often prove to be the driving force behind what they want to do and succeed at in life. For some people, such as famous sports figures Adam Schefter, Stephen A. Smith, Michael Wilbon, and Tony Kornheiser, these factors influence them to find watching college or professional sports, studying the lifestyle of determined athletes, conducting interviews, analyzing statistics, and playing sports themselves enjoyable, which are all aspects of the sports journalism career field. Sports journalism is an exciting and elating career field that falls under the broad umbrella of journalism careers, in which journalists collect, write, and distribute news and updates about amateur and professional sporting events.
Sports can help many at- risk youths. In order to participate in sports you need to be committed and willing to work hard. You also have to learn to respect others and accept that winning isn’t the only measure of success. Losing can build character as well. When youth participate in a sports they enjoy, they are less likely to engage in behaviors that are harmful or dangerous to themselves and others. It is for these reasons schools should strive to maintain athletic programs for their students.
An argument can be made that Journalism is one of the very few professions in the world of media that is handled with some sort of dignity and pride. After reading “The Elements of Journalism” by Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel, I realized how important journalism is to each and every one of us. Whether you’re a writer or a reader, the back and forth exchange between provider and consumer is extremely important in pushing society forward. Journalism after all is designed to challenge society, promote new ideas and spark conversation between one another. Despite the positives of journalism, there are issues that exist within the profession that cannot be excused and cannot be ignored.
Students who play sports experience many more benefits that make them a more well rounded person than students who do not. It not only provides many physical benefits, but also tons of mental benefits as well. I have been involved in baseball since the age of three and can definitely visualize these benefits compared to non-student athletes. The benefits of playing sports include valuable life lessons, social skills, and future employment.
Since the television was invented in 1924, news and current affairs programs have surly become one of our main media sources. With this in mind, reporters and stations alike are able to manipulate their audiences through a variety of techniques, to make them believe a representation of reality as opposed to the true fact. This is evident in the current affairs story “Video Game Violence” and the standard news story “Music Video Ban”. These similar stories both originated from Channel Nine and represent violence in society’s youth today, stating children are at risk if exposed to such material. Through a selection of techniques, the audience is lured into supporting the told story and agreeing with the general attitudes promoted.
