The specific career in which I am interested in going into is Sport and Fitness Administration/Management. I have a love for sports and exercise and hopes one day to achieve my dream. With a degree in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management. Within this career path, there is a wide variety of job titles to choose from. I am sure as I continue my education I will narrow it down to the one I desires the most. Because at this point in my life, I don’t know if I would like to open my own gym or managing a professional sports team. To obtain the first step in achieving an Associate Degree. In order to get into the Associate Program of Applied Science in Sport and Fitness Management. One must have studied high school coursework in biology, pre-calculus, and physics. Although, the coursework help the student manage to exercise and nutrition plans that go along with the athletes in the maintenance of physical fitness. Next step is Bachelor of Science in Fitness Management. This process goes over subjects in biology, physiology, and kinesiology. A person will also experience subjects in strength and conditioning, sports injuries and nutrition. This aspect will also cover fitness programs administration and women’s health and wellness. Next step is a Master of Science in Kinesiology. This Master program explores the application of kinesiology to motor performance, exercise physiology, and physical education programs. The coursework for this step is subject to statistics and research, kinesiology history and sports sociology. Exercise science possess many traits that attracted my attention whether it dealt with the different job opportunities or the ability to help an individual. There are two areas of exercise science that one can choose as a possible career path or as a major minoring in something else related to this type of work. One of the areas of study includes exercise physiology which can be defined by “the study of how the body’s structures and functions are changed as a result of acute and chronic bouts of exercise”. Not only does exercise physiology promote a healthy lifestyle, but it is closely connected to human performance, fitness, development/aging, and prevention/rehabilitation from disease or injury. Pursuing a degree in exercise physiology allows an individual in this profession to choose between several careers including physical education, exercise science and athletic training (Fisher, 2). Most jobs in athletic training field requires a bachelor degree from an accredited program but having a masters degree or a doctorate degree from an accredited program increases one’s chance of getting a better job or qualifying for an affluent position in one’s company. This single figurehead will often be the deciding factor as to the level of satisfaction everyone involved receives from the experience. I have also been hurt many times and I know the importance of an athletic trainer. What is Athletic training, and what could someone do with an athletic training degree? Athletic training is a unique field because it requires a strong mental and physical ability. These trainers go by many different titles such as: physician extender, wellness manager, rehab specialist, etc. Many trainers do not work under anyone, as they have their own office outside of the athletic setting. However, these trainer also work in many other places, such as: universities, hospitals and clinics, professional sports fields, military bases, etc. With a degree in this field, one might want, for example, to work in a hospital or clinic, as stated above. What would he/she be responsible for in this particular setting? A trainer working in a hospital would try to ease the pain of the injury and help move the patient through the process of the treatment.
